Got a couple more flights this weekend and this plane flies great! I was going to tweak the landing gear just a little and it snapped right off. I was using the fixed gear for now just to see how it flew.Any body have apair of fixed gear they want to part with? I'll gladly pay for the gear and shipping. I'm in mn. Thanks Rick

Can you tell me what you all painted the Hellcat with ?

I have a Corsair of the same manufacturer. I need a good paint.

Any suggestions from you all,

thanks

Warks 62 ,Thanks for the offer but someone already stepped up and has a pair on the way. I appreciate the quick response from you and the others on this post. I used dupont paint on mine with a flattner in the clear, it cleans up real nice compared to what comes on these planes. They seem to have a little adhesion problem if you nick them. I think they use some type of lacquer. Thanks Rick

Anyone,

For those of us who don't have access to a paint shop, or spray gun... is there an off the shelf spray can product that is compatible, fuelproof (to 15% nitro) and can be used to cover this plane with a coat of flat clear.

I used Model Master Paint from cans on mine then shot it with Top Flite Luster Coat Flat Clear after. It came out nice enough and I use YS 20/20 fuel and it holds up. Pics are on Post 107 of this thread. It goes on easy with a nice smooth finish.

Thank you, Warks62. I wonder if you can use the lustrecote directly over the original finish?

Yes, though I thought the rear was fine, I did reiforce around the wing mounting bolt area with some expandable foam. It made that area nice and solid. As far as the throws, I just sold this plane to a fellow in Texas and shipped it out. The book went with it and a don't remember the throws. Next time I e-mail him, i will ask or maybe someone else still has their book. Buy the way, I want one of those P40s. How does it look?

Hi,
What a great idea, the aluminum siding! Will incorporate a wheel cover set similar into my F6. Please, if you will, where did you buy your pilot figure?
And did you mention having shipped your finished F6 to Texas? Never even flew it? I wonder if it wound up in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? (where I live)
Regards,
Jim

I get aluminum flashing. The size sheets are just right to work with and can be cut, hammered, and shaped very easily yet is the right gage to hold whatever shape you bend it into and adds no weight to your project. I was just going to send the parts that i had started but then decided to finish them for the buyer because he hadn't done anything like that. That is why the doors aren't weathered like the rest of the wing. The plane went to Midland Tx. I never got around to buying an engine for it and then decided to put the funds into other projects but thought it would be nice if someone flew it this season. He said he would send me pictures. Now, after working on the F6F, I'm in warbird mode and am exited about building the GSP 140 P51 I got in trade. I'm putting the gear in this weekend and then, back to work on more gear doors for that plane. Thanks for the compliments. I'm learning all the time.

Oh, i forgot to mention about the pilot. It is the WWII pilot that Giant Scale Planes has. Chief also sells the same one but they are out of stock right now. Just talked to them last Friday about one for my Mustang. He fit in the F6F perfectly. I tried to order one from GSP but they have this minimum order policy and it wasn't enough. Bummer.

Ram the P40 is beyond my expectations , its first class , this is from a goy (me )P40 fanatic , I have the Pica 1/6 , The Global , THe VQP40 , Built and sold the Top Flight , so I love the P40 and this is a nice one .
The tail (elevator can easily be made scale with a simple jig saw cut , virtully no other work needed in that area , rudder is scale . Could use flaps but that is it .
The paint and decal seem very top quality .
The ads do not do it justice at all , if I have not seen it first hand I probalbly would have bought the spit or the hellcat

Thnks LDM. Sounds like i gotta have one. Did they use the same rail setup in the engine compartment as the Mustang? I do prefer the firewall mounting option. I know this is the Hellcat thread so i'll stop there.

Went to the filed today for the fith flight mission with my F6 Hellcat , great flying ...!!
Althogh I think 16 X 8 ia a great combination for my SAITO 1.50 is a bit large giving very little clearance on the plane.

I would really like to go upt to 3 Blade with a 15 X 8 but cant find them and I cannot find a GRAUPNER propellers

RICHARD can you advise WEB Store that has Graupner in the US??

I am posting some pictures of today, the cool thing is that this is the only Hellcat in PANAMA at this time...

ORIGINAL: Richard L.

James, you might want to try a Graupner 15x8 3-blade.
