I prefer gas as well, but all my FS glow engines have been super dependable. I like stopping off for gas for my car and my planes fuel at the same time. Might be different if I had a 24/7 hobby shop located along the drive to my field AND if the glow fuel cost under $4 per gallon AND the plane did not get covered with oil after a few flights...oh well...
Good luck with the G26 install.

They roll very nice and don't have any wobble in them.

Hi Guys,
I just recieved my F6F and question what retracts to use. I do have a set of Robart rotating 90 Deg. gear on hand...but I've read that this gear is not the best choice. I have contacted C.J. and they have gear made spacific to this model. I do have a set of C.J. retracts for my TF P-51, and love the gear. What to do...?
I need some good info here.
Second question; Is there a light weight, good gas engine that will fit into this model ? Not a G-23/26, but another make ? Gas is $2.85 a gallon, glow is near $30.00. I would love to use a gasser here, but the G-26 seems to be a bit to heavy for the model.
I bought the Robart Tail Wheel retract unit, and it's going in. I saw the picture of what one modeler did, and decided to do the same.
What size main wheel is scale for this bird ? Folks seem to be using everything from 3" to 4".
Soft landings always,
Bobby of Maui

I Just ordered my CMP Hellcat and P-40 (1.40) from AK- Models.
I am using CJ Retracts in my H-9 Corsair and KMP P-38 (on order) and like them.
I see many of you are using Sierra Retracts. I have been all over the website and don't see any listing for Hellcat, Corsair or P-40 retracts. Anyone have a link?
Thanks,
Dom

Hey guys,
I ran into a problem this weekend while trying to mount my OS 120(pre-surpass, non pumped) 4 stroke inverted. While the engine fits where its supposed to inside the cowl, I now have the problem of the carb is a whole lot lower than it needs to be-its within an inch from being level with the botton of the fuel tank- NOT GOOD!!
Anyone run into this with their engine setup and what can I do to keep the engine that I have and make everything work? I really want to use this 4 stroke!!
Thanks in advance!!! John

Anyone in southern CA. looking for a great Christmas gift (probably for themself!!) ?
Here is the deal,
I love the way my CMP hellcat is looking and flying, But I fly where there is mostly electrics and am getting sick of the people living adjacent to the field always coming over and asking me to land. Personally I don't think it is too loud. We fly near a municipal airpirt, and the landing path for the full size planes is about 1000 feet above our field - and I can hear the big engines over my hellcat.....well crap.
If it sells, I will just buy more electrics - if not, I will keep flying her.
CMPRO 70 inch Hellcat
O.S. BX-1 1.08 2 stroke with muffler adapter and slimline muffler
3 futaba standard servo's 2 airtronics bb servos, one micro servo for throttle, arrow shaft pushrods.
6v 2000 mah reciever pack , dubro on/off switch holder, and charge jack
14X7 Master Airscrew 3 blade prop, Zinger 16X6-10 prop (Zinger was easier to tune engine and ran quieter at a lower RPM but still delivered, I was able to do non-stop loops from verticle with it.)
scale painted pilot figure
sorry - no retracts
all you need is your reciever.
I have about 745.00 invested, and will let her go, ready to fly -minus reciever- for 600 even.

Hey John. I had the same problem with my OS-91 four stroke on my H9 P-51. The fuel would just run like crazy into the carb. I put a Cline regulator on mine and it took care of it. Check out http://www.billsroom.com/pcfs/ for the info.

anyone got any ideas about the OS 120 problem? (see previous post by me/) thanks!!

Hi Konatiki,
Do you recall what the price was for the Cline? I've been considering one for my CMP Zero I'm assembling. It has a similar problem with the tank being about an inch higher than my inverted Saito 150 carb. I was looking at getting one from Ironbaymodels, but they want like $45 for it. Seems a bit on the steep side.
Thanks.
BTW the Hellcats look sweet.

I did pay $50.00 for it but man it works great. I have heard that a fourmost oneway valve might work. It take a bit of presure to let air or fuel thru it. I have not tried it thought.

Man, that sucks. My club's flying site has been way out in the country on a farm for 14 years. Two years ago, the farmer next door sold out and now there are houses - huge, expensive houses - about 500 yards from the south end of our runway. The sherrif has been out several times because these new "neighbors" are complaining about the noise. It's just a matter of time before we're kicked off of the farm.
The F6F is a nice plane. Best of luck selling it.

Try $60.00 plus shipping ...OUCH- CHA-CHING!!! I just went to the link that Konatiki provided and thats what they are wanting for a regulator. Thanks Konatiki for the link!!!
(and my wife thinks this hobby is expensive
!! LOL
There's gotta be someway out there less expensive to fix this.

You could remount of engine upright. That would be the cheepest. I went thru the same thing. I should have got a four stroke with a pump. I hear the Y.S. engines have pump/regulators already on them. Good luck buddy and don't give up. Throw money at it and it will take care of the problem, as with most things but remember you only go around once and if you love to fly then do it.

I love this thread.
PS my ASP 1.20 is mounted inverted and fuel tank in stock position with no serious ill effects. I'm sure if I left it fully fueled in the hanger it would siphon until empty, but I don't do that.

Ok Guys...I need some feed-back...
I've been in a quandry on what engine to use. I would like to go gas powered, and considering a ZDZ 140. I've read that the engine will weigh in at 2.8 lbs. ready to fly...is this to much engine/weight for this model. This is the lightest gas motor I've found so far. Any idea's or comments ?

Hey Bob,
There was a discussion about this one page back. gehr2box had some wise things to say. No one, it seems, has experience bolting a gas engine to a plane this size though.

Hi John,
I think I'm going to have to spring for the fuel regulator at Ironbay Models for my install in the Zero. They show it for $43.95 on their site. You can see it [link=http://www.ironbaymodelcompany.com/Webpages/Accessories/Fuel%20Regulator.html]HERE[/link]
If anyone has any other alternatives to the problems associated with a high mounted tank on a inverted install I'd be happy to hear them.
Thanks,

Anybody? I've tried GSP, Raidentech and AKModels with no luck. Kits are plentiful, but good luck trying to get parts.

Does anybody have an extra "Lucky" decal, that they can sell to me? This is the Royal Flush hand Decal that is on the cowl. The kit comes with two, but I only need one.
Thank you,
Oriole
