Sure thing. I'm guessing a good auto parts store will have it. However I work at a community college and just thought about asking the guys in the Auto Body shop here where I should look for some.
I'll let you know what I come up with.

He used 3/4 oz in his example back on pg 29. I used 1/2 oz cloth cause I have a bunch of it on hand. The wings don't need all that extra strength as they are built up strong. I found that the 1/2 oz was plenty for me. However if you have to buy it I might go with the 3/4 oz on a bird this size.

I'm bashing a CMP 140 size P-51 and have been watching the work you guys have done with this plane with great interest. I've held off on glassing the wing and had been leaning toward using water based poly to do the wing. I've used the thinned Zpoxy method before on smaller parts, but not a whole wing. My question is, do you have to pretreat the wing with anything before you use the thinned Zpoxy method? The reason I ask is I am very afraid of warping the wing. I've put both thinned Zpoxy and water based poly on test balsa and both methods have caused the balsa to curl up a little. When usng the poly method you definately need to seal the wing first with a few coats of sanding sealer.

Hey you learn something everyday. I looked all over for tips on using Zpoxy but I didn't look hard enough and it was in this very thread. I'll be looking for some bondo putty this afternoon once I get off work.

You should never add a second coat of resin if you want to build a light plane, it's completely unnecessary and a lot of extra work.
See page 29 post #711 for the lightest and easiest epoxy resin system I know of: [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2530290/mpage_29/key_/tm.htm]Click Here for the lightest finishing system![/link]

Here are the pics of my wing glassing in progress. It's a bit cold in my shop and I think I need to thin out the Zpoxy on the second coats so it smooths out more.

To everyone who has been following this thread and wanted parts, I have new parts. Sorry about my absence, but you know how life goes don't you? I've been doing other things, no modeling at all, but now I'm back and I've even been getting a lot of flying in the last few weeks, so I feel pretty good!
I wanted to get the Hellcat parts up on the web site a week ago, but I've been busy with my own projects, so it's not all bad! I have about 20 of everything, cockpits, drop tanks, wheel covers so when they are gone I can't guarantee when I'll ever make more if I do. I have other project I want to move on to.
I have really enjoyed seeing the pictures here and there of some of these Hellcat projects, this thing has been so much fun, even though I didn't finish mine! I plan on being at the field this weekend, so maybe I'll update my site on Monday to give people a chance, I have no idea how much will sell, I'd like to clear my shelves to make room for other things though!
Happy flying or building depending on where you are this weekend!
Luke

Hi there,
Well I took your advice and picked up Saito 125 4 stroke. It’s 10oz lighter then the 120 so that’s a plus.
I’ve been reading all the posts about glassing the wings etc. So what happens if I just assemble the plane as is? The only rework I see is for the Century landing gear.
I’ve seen some of the CMP planes at the field and the covering chips or cracks. Would it be advisable to spray the whole thing with something to protect the paint? And what would I use?
Thanks,
Shubova

If you lay a piece of balsa on the table without a supporting structure then it will curl, that is not a realistic test. You do not have to do anything to the wood before you apply the thinned epoxy.

Can you provide some info on prices? I'd be interested in some parts too.

Does anyone have any answers to the questions I posted?...
I’ve been reading all the posts about glassing the wings etc.
So what happens if I just assemble the plane as is?
I’ve seen some of the CMP planes at the field and the covering chips or cracks.
Would it be advisable to spray the whole thing with something to protect the paint? And what would I use?
Thanks,
Shubova

Hi all, thanks for the PM’s and your interest in my Hellcat parts. Prices will be on my site, it will all be the same, no changes.
Shubova, I think the stock finish on this thing sucks, there is no way I would leave it as is. The main problem with the wing was that it was not scuffed up at the factory before painting. Clear coating it will just add weight and I don’t think it would help that much. I can’t really help you with the stock plane, sorry.
My Hellcat needs to have the colors sprayed on the wings and a clear coat, I’ll have it ready for the spring for sure.
Doesn’t seem to be as much interest in the parts this last round, so I anticipate that everyone that wants something will get it no problem. Here are some pictures of what I have to offer:
# 1, 2, Cockpit, templates included for installation
#3 is the finished cockpit
#4 Drop Tank, Gear Doors and Dummy Radial
#5, 6 Is how my plane looks
#7 Canopy
I would like to see more pictures of other peoples projects, or even video if you have it posted on YouTube, please let us know!
Thanks,
Luke

Ok Luke will be putting in my order Monday or when you post it ready. I will be posting some new pics of another one that I am building for a friend. He had already purchased all of your parts and had them ready for me. I am doing all of your mods (well almost all) plus a couple more that I have learned from a Brian Taylor Hellcat that I saw. You mentioned that you are going to be doing some other projects can you let us know what they might be? If your making parts for them then it might be another one for me too.

Hi Cliff, you can go to my site now, I updated the products page. You are correct, www.zollnermodels.com Thank you for the compliments, I’m glad my ideas for this bird were of some assistance!
Randy, thank for those pictures, sure looks great! Doing another Hellcat for a friend? He is sure to have a great looking plane, keep us posted on what you are doing with it, I’d like to see more! I’m not going to say what I’m doing now, but it’s not going to be a project for everyone, if I do start something that may interest more people I’ll post it on here for sure.
Got ya covered Fred, check my site for updates and get what you need.
I want to add also, forgot to mention on my site that I only ship to the lower 48, I will not accept foreign orders at this time. My shopping cart system is not set up to handle overseas shipments, they would have to be figured on a case by case basis and I don’t want to bother right now, sorry.

Thanks Luke. I just ordered one of everything... I hope anyway. Got the canopy, cokpit and package of radial, gear doors and drop tank.
Can't wait to get this thing moving again. I need to finish glassing the wings and tails so it's ready for freash paint.
