Someone has probably turned the compression screw down too far at some point. The contra piston is quite a tight fit in the bore and is not actually connected to the screw, but relies on the piston...

RE: Enya 41-4CD back in production

I've always thought a company such as Enya could have done a lot better, especially at that price!!! A blank glow plug to bung up the hole for example!-why drill/tap the hole in the first place? & as...

RE: Need ML Midge Plans

Hi All,

I have been trying to get in touch, but my freeserve email address has been unreliable (now changed to my work address which I read every day).

RE: They eat Glow Plugs.......

Some times the remains of the blown plug will remain within the engine as small metal fragments, these will clobber the new plug when the engine starts, blowing that. This cycle will repeat until you...

RE: Help get Clan .24cc running right

Hi,

I have a fair bit of experience with small diesels, having designed & built a few of my own (ML Midge & Dragonfly series) & in my experience there are 2 reasons why a small diesel will...

RE: How long have you been flying diesel for?

My first diesel was a DC Sabre in 1973, since then I have used both diesel & glows in many models originally control line & free flight & later R/C models & diesels remain my 'first love'.
I have...

RE: ENYA 41 4 STRK DIESEL NOW LISTED

I tend to agree with this & the test would seem to support my earlier comments in the earlier thread regarding this engine-even the 'plug' is just to bung up the hole!
I know any unusual engine...

RE: Enua 4 strk diesel again

Laser in the UK used to do a diesel version of their .61. I remember one being flown in a vintage model at Old Warden.
If I remember correctly, there was a small cylinder with a contra piston...

RE: Machining a diesel 049 engine - first attempts

I have found you don't need to knurl the shaft, just make it a tight fit.
You are right about the shaft cutting its own female slots in the driver-I have done this when making new drivers for...

RE: Machining a diesel 049 engine - first attempts

Hi George,

Sorry to be confusing-Here's how I did it:

Make your prop diver first, drilling it part way through from the rear 5mm or therabouts to a depth of just over 6mm (1/4")

When...

RE: need diesel help fast

Hi,

Although equal parts of each do work OK, most engines are better with the following mix (& it's cheaper!)

25% Ether
25% Castor (or other oil)
50% Parrafin, Kerosene, Lamp oil or...

Hi,
Glad you all like the engine.
If I have done it correctly, there should be a picture of the twin (known as the ML Dragonfly)
There are no drawings as yet-I made it up as I went along using...
