RE: 1.6 FX Engine props?

This is a long shot in terms of installation, but if you can put a Jerry Smith tuned pipe on it you'll pick up ~900 RPM on an APC 18x6W. It would take some serious modifications or an external mount,...

RE: Best Covering

Great looking bird. Does the overlap ever pull apart (with glow)? Always wanted to try this method, but thought it'd become a hassle.

RE: EF 540T questions

Ditto Razor on the motor selection. Definately use a wideblade on either. I'd not buy the CF gear for it unless it's gonna be a hangar queen, go with Tetherite instead. CF will take a couple decent...

RE: Meet Thwing!

Looks like wicker furniture to me. Can you bolt legs to the corners and remove that rudder? Now that would be cool! :D Seriously, nice job, great looking bird.

RE: own design profile

I've only scratched one 40 size profile, so take it for what it's worth: Ditto matchless on the sheeting and CF, it's gonna fold right behind the wing for sure. Might also want to put some gussetts...

RE: Bro's fav Lipo?

What about Apogee? Got a couple freebee's at Toledo, 830mAh's, and rated for 10.5C or 9A continuous. Burnt one up after pulling 13A a few dozen times, but that's to be expected. Anybod hear of...

RE: Have you all gone through this stage?

RE: Fun 51 tail modificatons?

Control Surface. If you move the CG back after you get it flying, it makes a world of difference. Had buddy with one a couple years ago and I flew it a lot, fun plane.

RE: Have you all gone through this stage?

I agree with the hovering, but DO NOT try to learn rolling harrier circles too close to the ground. All sorts of interesting stuff will break and fly off it then. ;)

RE: BEST ENGINE FOR A PROFILE

Sorry bro :D OS makes good motors. Not my first pick, but there's many who do the same as you. IMHO there isn't one perfect motor for every person / plane, especially in the 40 - 50 size airframes....

RE: BEST ENGINE FOR A PROFILE

Reliability (can be tuned easily and doesn't quit in the air), smooth transition, the least weight given CG and power requirements, torque (spool up speed & prop sizes), durability & useful lifespan,...
