Realflight 3.5 vs. 5.5

Hi guys. Just wondering if 5.5 is that much better than the 3.5 i have already. Actually its still g3 since i cant find the upgrade anymore since i bought a new computer. Any critics? Anyone know...

RE: CG formula

Bmatthews you may be right. Its much easier to calculate using the online calculators. I just so happen to be that rare breed of guy who likes math and the like but dont want to go into all the...

CG formula

Hi guys. I looked at the sticky abvoe to try and find the proper formula for finding CG on any airplane but some of those links unfortunately do not tell a definitive formula. Can anyone give me the...

RE: am i ready?

The only way to tell if ur ready is to try some dead stick landings and some touch and go's. A true solo is the ability to handle ur plane in the most dire of circumstances. Its not how you handle...

RE: RC Car/Truck enthusiast looking to get into flying.

Yes you can fly in the winter. As a matter of fact the engine will perform better on cold days than hot days. Engines don't like humidity or heat. But give em a little cold weather, a little warm up...

RE: Shaky Hands

I don't agree about the neckstrap being dangerous. Everything is dangerous in this hobby if zero care is taken. We had an accomplished pilot this past weekend accidentally run up his electric and it...

RE: Fingers or Thumbs

Im both pinch and thumbs!! I use the pinch for the right stick and the thumbs for the rudder. If i need to fly pattern i switch to pinch on both but for warbirds i use both.

There's nothing...

RE: Will the engine mount melt?

I agree with all the guys. Just a quick question before you start mounting.............. Do you have the correct distance from the washer to the firewall? Ive never heard of perfect center.

RE: New Radio

Id stay away from the Futaba 4yf. While the price is right, the 4 channel radio is very limited. If you want to keep flying stick with futaba 6ex. I have owned a futaba 4yf a long time ago and it...

RE: transmitter range

I remember watching a baseball game where the Dodgers were playing against the Giants. About the beginning of the fourth inning some idiot flew a park flyer all around Dodger stadium. My wife...

RE: Fuel Flow Direction, A or B?

No hits because either side would work. Its a little too much to worry about. The flow from either side will be fine. These arent extremely complicated parts. We just make em that way.

RE: Top Flite P51

Weird. Sounds more like a nitro model than a Top Flight model. I think you should just sand the wing joiner a little and it should take care of your problems. Trial fit both wing halves together...

RE: First Flight Help

I agree with everyone but a lot of oil on the wing would mean its rich and your engine struggling means too lean. Its one or the other. Youre probably rich at the high end and lean at the low end or...

RE: High wind technique

Do I deny that R/C and full-scale are not different aerodynamically? No if flown in the same manner. But I have seen plenty of guys fly with a trainer that is over powered and it is nothing close to...

RE: High wind technique

HarryC and Top Gunn, Those are YOUR opinions and it sounds like you guys are quoting directly from a full-scale book on approaches and landings. Much different with R/C. Im not saying your opinions...

RE: High wind technique

Ok Top Gunn. When youre "steering" with the rudder are you changing heading? Of course you are! Slightly but you are. And read my post again I never said turn, I said change heading DURING LANDING....

RE: High wind technique

There is no other way to CORRECTLY and SAFELY land cross-wind without rudder. A good rule of thumb for landing is altitude is controlled with throttle, speed is controlled with elevator and direction...

RE: J3-60 Piper Cub 81

I second or third the different prop pitch approach before buying anything new right away. This is highly contagious in this hobby. As soon as you make a mistake one would want to buy something and...

RE: J3-60 Piper Cub 81

Yes. This is the reason you lift to 90 degrees, to check everything before flying! If you had taken it up without lifting it you more than likely would have had engine failure and almost assuredly a...

RE: J3-60 Piper Cub 81

That looks pretty good. Try screwing in the clevis for your throttle about two turns then lean it out a bit or richen. That would help with your idle. That plane, even though its tied down seems to...

RE: Finally I ordered my first 2.4 Ghz Radio/Transmitter

Two things though. Forget the receiver battery it comes with. Just discard or dont ever use. Just buy a regular lipo or NiMH battery. Second to program your different receivers just hold down link...
