RE: Back in the Game, glue question

you will find nearly as many "answers" as there are builders... Very much a personal preference issue. I use Elmers Carpenters glue (very much like Titebond, aliphatic resin glue), maybe a bit...

RE: Phaeton 90 Build Thread

I have always had GREAT response from BUSA thru the years... They have always been VERY willing to replace any defective or wrong-size parts (and there have been very few). I can't imagine they...

RE: NEW RADIAL BI ROTARY ENGINE

looks like a much more mechanically complicated effort at the theory of the Erickson MCC Full Expansion engine design... That's a LOT of machining, moving parts, and rotating mass...

RE: looking for a new plane for my Q-35

pretty much any of the Balsa USA 1/4 scale kits would work for that engine. It is a bit bulkier that the newer purpose-built engines, but the Q's do run good. Most of the WWI scale planes need the...

RE: Build table

Homasote is the BEST thing to use (IMHO). Placing it on top of a scrap door (hollowcore maybe best b/c it is light, easy to handle) makes for a VERY flat surface. Shim it to level on top of your...

RE: BUD NOSEN 1/4 scale CITABRIA BUILD COMPLETION

try a "weedie" conversion (Ryobi or Homelite is CHEAP and they run good)... If you are not inclined to do that, but want a "ready-built" solution, maybe a Quadra (Q32 or Q35) or maybe a Zenoah G-38...

RE: Bud Nosen Giant Scale Aeronca Build

magnets can be a good solution. If done inside the cowl they don't show. Easy enough to pop the cowl off if needed. Use neodynium magents (STRONG rare eath mags). Cheap on eBay. Get ones...

RE: Balsa USA Enforcers built as electric

I have a couple of these kits... I have toyed with the idea of bashing them into an electric ducted fan version (probably twin fans). Has anybody here done that? Care to share any "secrets"...

RE: nosen aeronca champ question

the JURY struts are not a "must" (provided that the main struts are adequately strong), however that do a lot of scale detail AND provide a LOT of additional strength for the main struts. I would...

Reasons -

Cleaner (little or no fuel "goo" when using gasoline)
Easier to see (eyes getting old)
More realistic flight characteristics (slower, thumbs getting old too)
Engines less...
