Hello Mr. Kerry.
I have never seen this type if issue with the 2250 Air Start turbine version.
Upon applying air, the cockpit display's LEDs showing as follows.
Yellow: steady on
Green: Blinking (Should be steady)
Red: Blinking.
Once i stop apply the air, the red LED stop blinking and only the green blinks and yellow steady.
I could feel the fuel pump trying to prime, but it only briefly rotates then stop. After that, nothing.
I check and changed battery, and disconnect and reconnect everything, no luck. Could you please
help me understand what could be the cause for this. I hope it is not the RPM sensor. Thank you
so much Mr. Kerry.
Best regards,
Neil.

Hi Neil,
First, the Blinking Red and Green LEDs, indicate an Error in the system. It could be a faulty T/C, RPM Sensor, sticking pump or some other issue.
I will assume that you have not ignited on Propane when this problem you have identified takes place and that you have the 2002 D2 SJ ECU ?
The fuel pump should not be attempting to run until the trubine has reached the min. 100 Degr F exhuast temp. This is what is leading me to consider the T/C as it may be putting in a false "High" temp. to the ECU and causing the ECU to think it is in a "overtemp" condition while you have not even achieved ignition.
Are you using a Fuel Solenoid ? IF so, bypass it and attempt to run th engine. If all is ok, the solenoid is faulty. The solenoids are 12vdc (if you have the 2002 D2 ECU) and they can be checked for operation with good 6 vdc battery.
Unplug your pump from the ECU and using a single Flashlight battery ("D" cell 1.5vdc) run you pump with this. If it truns smoothly, this will confirm that you pump is likely ok.
Check / clean your fuel filter.
If all of these items check Ok, it is very likely the issue is a fualty T/C or RPM board. However, 99% of the time the T/C is at fault.

Hello mr. Kerry.
No sir, it never reached the propane preheat. I had tried to apply air many time
Seems that the pump trying to rotate. Sometime it stay running longer than other.
Mostly just about a second to two then it stop. I will try flushing out the pump tonight
And will try again. I thank you so much for your help chief.
Best regards,
Neil.

Hello.
I had tried to flush out the fuel pump with a AA battery, the pump runs smoothly with it. I hooked everything back up
and tried it, and it does the following.
After the turbine rotates to about 2000 RPM, i can feel the pump starting the priming process as the instructions book says. However, the pump
sometime would turn over and run for about 1 to 1.5 second. Just enough for the glow plug to switch on (verified that it switched on)
But that's where the pump would stop and the glow stop. Other times, it wouldn't even turn over, or just for half a second then stop.
I am at the lost. I think it could be the battery too, but this is the new one. I think the RPM sensor board inside the cowling is fine, since it
did pick up the RPM reading from the compressor. Please help me to diagnose it. I really hope i don't have to send it in. By the way, would
you by chance have any old ECU ( Gold Anodized) and the T/C for this 2250 engine model? If so, what would be the costs please?
Thank you so much Mr. Kerry.

Hi Neil,
How are you measuring RPM ? Do you have a data terminal or are you using a tach ? The reason I ask is if you have a data terminal, you can also read Temperatures.
The pump should NOT RUN at all until 2 things have been met. 1) you have 100 Deg. C Exhuast temp during propane preheat and 2)combined with proper RPM's, only then pump will run. So, as you can see, without the propane preheat-up, the pump should not begin to operate.
I think your T/C may be the issue here. I do not believe it to be your ECU. How about I send you a T/C and you can try it.
I may have a used 2002-D2 ECU. Will advise.
Please confirm the type of connectors on your solenoids, pump, turbine > ECU and such with a photo. Want to be sure we have compatability with the 2002-D2 ECU.
Please forward your ship to address.
Regards

Hello.
I used the hand held tachometer for gas plane to read the compressor rpm. The manual
says that upon applying compressed air and rotor reach 2000 rpm, the fuel pump will engage
to prime the system for 2 seconds. Which I confirmed that this step indeed happened. It just
seldom the pump stay on just long enough for the glow plug to switch on, then everything stops
from that point. I'm beginning to suspect sticky pump. I thank u for your offer sir. If it is not
too much trouble, would you please PM me the price of the T/C. I would like to pay for it if you
going to send it out sir. Thank you once again for all of your help. This is the reason why I have
stayed with SimJet.
Best regards
Neil.

Hello Kerry.
Thank you so much for your time assisting me in troubleshooting the problem. I will sent it in as soon as the holidays
shipping madness is over. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
