So did it end up helping at all? That looked like a nicer built in version of what I was thinking of trying.
EDIT: Nevermind. Guess that's where the vids came in. Scratch that question!
Looks like it made a HUGE difference! Nice!

I would like to build some out of aluminum or something that were somehow mounted right to the edges of the rear hull. Then make them adjustable with a little screw or something. Not sure how that will work. Somehow it has to look decent too and not like some hack glued some things on the side of the hull. I really like you mold in job. Pretty sweet!
So what CG do you guys run? I've heard around 36% for these boats? I don't have my cat set up quit that far.....I want to say it's more like a 30%.....but it's been sitting a while without work. I'll have to look again.

looks sweet man. look out on 14.8 no one has tested that amount of rpm the worst thing that could happen is the impeller could explode . and keep an eye on the temps on all the electronics incoulding the batt

bad news, my car(real) blew a piston and caught on fire this morning...........long story short I'll probably need money, might have to sell everything.........everything. So keep an eye on OFE's swap shop forum, if you want the jet villain or the fast surface drive villain or my nitro vee, or my rustler or my stock of IB3600's and three chargers and three radios. I'm sure saying this in the thread may somehow break the rules, but in my current state I could care less.

Quicksilver,
Nice, pics help alot actually. And dang it you had one of my ideas in those pics. When I was making upgrades to my waverunner, one of the best upgrades was an extended plate that ran about 8" past the back of the hull. I want to say it was even with the end of the jet nozzle. What it did was help the hull from bouncing around when you were at speed. Also helped it get up on plane that much quicker but that doesn't seem to be a factor here.
The other thing I was going to steal from the ski's was some side fins. On each side of the rear of the hull there were these little plates....about 1 1/2' long that were adjustable. When you adjusted these things down and took a corner with the throttle nailed the G's would rip you off the ski if you weren't careful. Sort of like a skag I guess but being on the side of the hull really seemed to make a pretty big difference. Not sure if it will work for these boats. I ordered some trim tabs also just to play with but we'll see. That's half the fun is tinkering like you said.

but it also could have been what your saying b/c to me it looked like you where slower then my 2580 kv on 11.1 .
oh ya what kinda run time are you getting

Just a quick question to all the people who have spray painted their RC boats:
I want to spray my NQD Jet boat jet black. Can I spray the boat with just a normal spray can you buy from a hardware store? As it is a plastic hull is there a specific paint required so the hull doesn't crack from the paint or make the hull weak etc. Should I use the same paint I use for spraying rc car bodies such as the tamiya spray can paint? I just want to buy a cheap $5 can from a hardware store and spray it black but I am not sure if it is going to stick to the plastic hull good, or if the water might effect it, even if the paint will deform, crack or weaken the plastic etc. Cut a long story short, can I use an ordinary spray can? lol
Thankyou very much

Hi Paul,
It depends on the plastic and what type of paint you use. You will want to test the paint on the hull first. Nothing is going to stick if you rub against some rocks or anything sharp. I would definitely test a small piece of the plastic with the paint first. Maybe an inside piece that won't be seen or is unimportant.
You are definitely going to want to scuff up the hull first so the paint sticks better. Hit it with some very fine sand paper so it has no gloss left on it. Maybe with some wet sand paper or something. That will help the paint stick 500%.
Hope that helps.

yes make sure you scuff it up . i use a white scuff pad does great and dont leave scratch marks . and i also use just standered paint but you could use the paint made for plastic that you can also get from a hardware store just cant remember the name of it its a comine spray can paint
oh yeah and a nothering about the scuff pads you can remove the old decals with them and not hurt the plastic

Paul,
Got to thinking about it also. After you scuff up the hull make sure you wash it off really good to get all the dust and crap off it. I usually hit mine with the compressor. Depending on what you use to scuff it also it probably wouldn't hurt to blast it with some motor spray or at least rub it down with some rubbing alcohol. That will take of any oils or funky stuff that would cause the paint not to stick.

to be on the fast side use only rubbing alcohol or denatured alcohol . what im getting at is any kinda solvint will eat at the plastic . i first tryed brake clean on the decals and even though they came of easyly it also meltd a then layer of the plastic that i had to then sand down smooth before i painted
