rc_for_me,
Here is my setup that is on this thread. Check out post

It has a Mark II Quick field charger and a micro panel to run fuel and backup glow igniter. Also to run my Dynatron at 12 volts. But when I need to start my gasser I plug the starter into the 24v outlet and flip the toggle switch and voila, 24volts!

Well Billy, did you have any idea what you started when you first created the "Field Box From Hell"? Now I see you have also created the "Ultimate Field Charge Box from Hell"
Well, thanks to your inspiration, I have combined the two into my own creation. I'm not sure what to call it, but it is like the "Ultimate Field/Charge Box from Heaven"!
I'd sure like you to take a look at it and let me know what you think. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share them.
Below are some thumbnail pictures and you can find all the details on my website by Clicking Here

That is a good looking box. What is the wooden box with the fan on it? A charger? A charge box? What is the white panel in the fuel section of the box?

The wooden panel in the top box serves two purposes.

It is the master power panel with switches, charging posts, auto-style (cigarette) port for my power inverter, voltmeter, and wiring harness.
It also contains a switched fan to cool my eFlight and other battery backs that slide underneath
The following picture lays out details and can be clicked on for a larger view...

The white box in the lower bin contains the charging station for the field box battery cell. The charging station contains special circuitry that will peak and monitor the battery condition to keep it fully charged without over charging it. I can charge the field box battery both from a 110v AC source as well as a 12v DC source while traveling.
The following picture shows whats inside the white box.

If you get a chance, check out the web-pages I have created that detail the construction of my field box. You can find them by CLICKING HERE
Thanks for looking and I appreciate the input.

After reading all 336 threads on the ultimate field box, and after a long search for a B&D tool box I'm ready to start my box design.
I need to be able to carry two different types of fuels. I've read that some people are using plastic tupperware type jugs to carry their fuels, and are still able to fit them in the lower compartment with out cutting up the tray above.
Can someone give an update on how those jugs are holding up?
Are most people who use two containers, switching fuel pick up lines from the pump back and forth between containers or are you using some kind of valve to switch between containers?
How are you hooking up your vent lines, and capping them after fueling?
I'm trying to set up a system that will allow me to fuel my ducted jet or prop plane w/o having to open the bottom compartment to switch or cap off fuel lines.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks,
Steven

I saw an interesting thing in a magazine. They were using a battery from a rechargeable drill to run their starter. You could put another jug in the bottom. I may try to get it going this weekend for the Pro Bro funfly.

I have been using two Rubbermaid jugs for a while now and have had no problems with it so far. Check out the Rubbermaid jug that I am using on this thread

Thanks DrDeath and Billy Hell for your info.
I think I'll check out those rubbermaid jugs.
As far as my plumbing, I 'm going to install a tee between the vent lines from each jug and exit the one line out of the field box to a fueling dot. Then install 2 more fueling dots, one for the ducted fan fuel and the other for the prop plane fuel. For a total of three fueling dots mounted and labeled on the field box. When I want to refuel I'll uncap the vent and one of the the fueling dot then plug in the pump line from the pump mounted on the out of the box. When I bring both planes to the field, this will keep me from having to go into the field box and switch lines between the jugs and the pump every time I switch planes.

Hey I got an idea about the dual fuel tank system for people who have two tanks of glow fuel and want to pump it out of their boxes. Use an Excel Fueler from Slimline. Put two of those on the outside of your box and just switch the pump from one to the other, plug in, plug out!! I think that would be a little easier than the fuel dot system, however inexpensive it was.

I've been followign this thread for a while now, and all looks great. There is only one thing missing....
Has anyone figured out how to mount, let's say, a Moki 2.10 and an 80" wing to this thing yet. Because if we did, then we wouldn't even need to open the box. Just drag it out to the flightline, and fly. lol
Keep the ideas coming.

Fly the field box? Not a terrible idea, but I am going to need at least a DA 200. My 1.8 would never move it. Somehow, this thing has grown into a monster. My digital scal reads to 40lbs. This thing is off the charts.

If you want to go to the other extreme, check out the new all ABS Plastic Flightbox
called the "Blackbox", at www.usamicroinc.com.

So how have peoples plastic rubbermaid fuel bottles held up over time?
I have just purchased a tool box and would like to mount 2 containers in the bottom of it.

I use the tall round one gallon ones with the big lids. Absolutely no complaints here. Someone did have a prob with his fuel clouding up and smelling bad, but I suspect that was caused by the RTV he use to seal the spigot hole. I RTV'd the lid on mine, but the fuel never touches it. That's just a guess though so treat it as such. Oh yeah, I've been using the Rubbermaid for about 6 months and it has always had glow fuel in it.

Something different....each field box has power panel, 1gl fuel, radio compartment, tool drawers, starter storage etc.

Hey guys I have a question about this thing, if you buy the metal fuel boxes, can't you just cut a rectangular hole in the middle, just big enough for it, and belt the top down? that way you use the fuel box's handle, if it will hold... I haven't tried it, just wondering...
