Yeah, I don't run them above 9500. Still have high bearing failures with stock bearings in old resurrected motors. Boca mid grade (stainless balls and race) solves that nicely.Have yet to have to reopen a motor to replace Boca's.
Never contributed before but enjoy the friendlier badger and great thoughts on "all things Saito"

Welcome to Saito Club, I have great service from the Hard Chrome standard Boca bearings, it's a shame they call them "Econo" because they are definitely not El Cheapo, they seem to last forever. They seem to resist rust although I use Corrosion X as an ARO.

Yep. Good product fair priced with a very helpful tech named Mahai. And they answer the phone believe it or not!
Comes pretty fast in the mail too.
i am with you Hobbsy. Can't go wrong with the hard chrome for the price. Just prefer stainless steel, I don't fog toys during down time. Lazy flight maintanence

I think mike is going to have the last laugh here,it's me suffering a touch of alz this time see pic. What was your job occupation mirion?

I was a mechanical engineer in the automotive machine tool business so I have seen a few rolling element bearings. I knew what you probably meant but thought I better check seeing as the participants in this forum are multi-disciplined and from all over the world. I see in your picture that you also use FAG bearings, we used those as well and they are also top shelf. Let me assure you, there name is a coincidence, I still have several 1980's FAG calendars and they are definitely of a hetro nature.

On a different Saito subject, as I rejuvenate my 25 year old Saitos I am not certain about removing the spray bar from the carb. I remove the nut from the spray bar and it doesn't come out easily and I hesitate to push too hard. Is there a press fit and is it unadvisable to remove it or is mine just glued in from the residue. There seems to be a flange on it inside the carb that only allows it to go out the end opposite the nut. ( I tried to post a picture of the spray bar but I don't have the necessary 10 posts yet. Maybe when I get my 10 posts I will put up a picture of the FAG calendar.)

Sorta related.
is anyone using a rust inhibitor as an additive in methonal?
Just curious if it may prevent the inevitable internal rusting of stock hard chrome bearing races and balls.
i use it in my gas mixes within fuel conditioners, small quantities of it don't seem to ding the octane.
wondering about the less volitile methanol?

The FAG bearings are right at the top of my list when buying bearings for my better engines.
When I was employed at machine repair it didn't take long at all to realize the benefit of name brand, suitably graded bearings . New Departure bearings, often still available are another favorite in my shop

Dave, here in my link is OS's jest on how to use the manufacturers stated Torque and RPM output numbers to prop your engine, in short OS suggests for the average pilot to use more torque than just peak RPM, understandable

https://www.osengines.com/faq/faq-q686.html

I've been saying that for years, that paper hp doesn't mean much, flying power does.

Dave, inundated with harley trikes to paint lately...see how you can be made to suffer for your art?

Mike i look forward to the fag calendar. Can't remember what,if anything,is stamped on the standard saito bearings but i still have the originals in my saito fa182 flat twin, they are tight as.Can't help with the spray bar as i've never removed one though i've had a close look at them.Dave or gary should be able to help you.

They are difficult to push out, they require firm pressure, make sure that the cats eye is facing up toward the intake pipe when installing the new one.

20x8.Will likely use a mas classic 20x8 for the test flight, they can stand a fair pounding if it noses over during the take off run so at least you can fly it (in a slightly shorter form) instead of coasting to a stop in the shrubbery. After a few touch and goes will fit an apc 18x10/12 and see how they go at low rpm cruising. If i'm happy with that i'll paint the prop in a woodgrain finish with riveted copper leading edge like the pic.I did half a grey plastic mas 14x6 q tip in a timber finish a few years ago and flew it on the red and white deccy with the fa82 fitted.People used to look at the prop in the pits after you taxi back but i don't remember anyone remarking on it,they must have had their own hushed conversations elsewhere if i can find a pic of the prop will post it.

I have a lot of wood props but none as beautiful as that one, one has Hercules stamped on the hub if I still have it. What kind of guitar is in the case, Thanks Beautiful tank.

Correction, one says EWH Hustler and the other says Airflow, both are 18x6's
