It's the "Tim Allen" syndrome, you get more power wether you need it or not. LOL

They do. I use common 3s lipo's in my tx's that require 8 AA's. I bought a bunch of them off a guy online that was getting rid of his inventory cheap. Think I paid about 6-7 bucks a piece for these. The other ones are 1100's and last hours and they were 9 bucks a piece. You can get the old lipo technology cheap as dirt now. You don;t need a 20C battery to power a tx. A 8c will work fine and last for a long time. Nicest thing is near zero voltage drop for longer than you can stand to drive.

One of the pics shows that I opened the cases and soldered the wires direct to the board. The other I made a harnes for in case I sell it.

Okay wow....road test with the Spektrum radio complete! Im still in shock as to how far this radio can go and how awsome this radio is! Theres so many features that you can change and / or customize to your liking. Seems like a flawless radio system for me. So flawless, that i want to get the 2nd 18R the same system and so flawless that i was able to really see what the lipo'd 18R is all about as well as just freakin ridiculusly fast it is. Nearly to fast to control at w00t

yup yup! DX2! It would obviously be far cheaper to buy just another RX, but like you said i said (lol) i do like to be able to let others (mainly my cousin) drive the none lipo'd car.

What size pinion should I use with a mamba 4200kv motor? I have to order some pinions and people say you can gear the 4200 pretty high, they will be in both my mini t and my 18t so anyone with both could you give me some advice.

i think 16 in both but also get 18 with the 4200 you'll have the torque to get it going with the high gears. But as always watch the temperatures. i run my MT with 16/60 and have no problems so u should be good

Keep in mind that all that gearing does generally is control how quick off the line the car is (using a smaller pinion) while allowing it longer to get up to top speed (using a larger one), but that gearing should always be chosen relative to the area or track you're running so as to basically be able to reach top speed somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of the way down your straightaway of choice. For racing, using that motor, I generally use 13/60 in my Mini-T and 11 or 12/60 in my 18T on 1/18th-sized tracks. Going to a larer pinion only makes the trucks pigs off the starting line.

Did I hear somebody say they used lemmon pledge to clean their cars? I am searching, but can't find it. Was that my imagination? I am interested to hear how people clean their stuff up and avoid as much dirt getting into everything in the first place.

Pledge is great for cleaning the body, making it shine, but it's not good at keeping dirt out of stuff. The best thing you can do is to keep your truck dry and not let dirt accumulate.
An oldschool trick you can try is putting a buggy body under your truck body, attaching to the sides of the chassis using velcro. The buggy body fits tighter and is more form fitting, and will keep more of the dirt that likes to fly in and around a truck body from getting inside the chassis.

I asked the same question awhile ago and for the most part I got Denatured alchohol, simple green diluted with water or a mixture of all three. Take electric parts off and spray and blow off with compressed air. I also read on rc411.com that if you use wd-40 on your plastic parts and wheels the dirt falls right off.

The WD-40 trick while an option for running a really muddy track, isn't really good for ordinary running. WD-40 contains oil, oil attracts dirt. Seems to be more counterproductive than helpful.

Well, I guess there is no secret dirt repelling pledge coating As luck would have it, I am running 18B's and not truck bodies. I have not as of yet gone for the velcro but it probably is a good idea.

I keep getting some dirt in the diff cases. I am a little unhappy about that and wouldn't mind cutting that down significantly. Any thoughts?

take an old tire foam cut into squares to go around bearings on drive shaft and bearings on diffs. put holes in middle of square, slide foam over bearings and thats it

i use denatured alcohol mostly, it cuts the grime.... the shocks are NOTORIOUS for leaking so around there use an old toothbrush and then some denatured alcohol (NOT RUBBING IT HAS WATER IN IT), i know at the 2008 "buggy worlds" it was raining and one of the racers said he sprayed everything down with pledge (because it formed the waxy coating.....) to prevent mud buildup. IMO its worth a shot, if it helps repel stuff, i remember i sprayed my truggy down with some WD-40 after a rain run, and amazingly NOTHING stuck to where i had done the shooting down, i was amazed

Do you mean the "diff cases" or the pinion/spur gears? (most people complain about the open gears)
You can custom cut some foam o-rings to slip over the outdrives that will keep some of the dirt/dust out, but these little cars require regular maintenance to survive the outdoor world. Also I've used some little homemade dirt deflectors, cut out of lexan, that I attached to the rear A-arms to cut down the amount of stuff that gets thrown back there by the front wheels.

Yeah, dirt in the diff cases. I tear down the cars and keep them up to snuff, but the dirt in the diff gears just seems like a bad deal for wear and tear on the parts. I will try the foam trick. Thanks much!

i didnt even consider cutting a hole out of the foam and placing the bearing inside it. i just cut pieces and placed them on top of the bearing where it seemed to get in.
