Be good if he does, it is amazing, but I would not be surprised to see him still flying his C140

Luke your right i couldnt!! but Ali nagged me to death at the nats so i am going to have a go

i have 1 problem though, The electric 140 is not set up for the sched. (verticle uplines with snaps etc eat power big time) and i only got it back from the Baron on tuesday so i have had no time to play with props and change cells etc.

Ali is going to start building me an Adrenalin in the morning, i am going to pick up what he has done in the afternoon then try to finish it!! oh i forgot, me and Ali are indoor flying Friday till 11 at night.

that leaves just Saturday to finish it, go and pick up my caravan, load everything, drive to site and set the caravan, awning etc. and hopfully have a fly of the plane to sort it out.

Kane you must be the Bollocks of a pilot cos that sched aint easy

good luck

Yeah i agree, reckon a C140 with a YS 160 or 140DZ would be able to do the vertical upline snap quite easy, but not the 140L

i was doing the 45 upline snap and vertical with mine today,it did it ok but you have to do it with not a great deal off elevator movement or it struggles a bit, that knifeedge 45 turn round is interesting

Mike how does the kit compare to the prototype?

If the 140 is going to struggle with the schedule all planes will [X(]

you really must balance the control inputs with power.. everything acts like a brak eon the 140 if you put in too much.. it can be spritely if you have the right cg and - as the top f3a guys do, blip the power with you high throw manouvres..

you cant make an omelette as they say !

I also think that more pitch will be required on the prop for the schedule..... switch back to a lower pitch for the freestyle...

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.... no one answered the Q what would Ali be flying !?!?

blip the power!!!

full throttle upwards with a 1/4 roll then a snap roll ( i said snap roll not spirall roll) then carry on up to a stall turn!! where does this "extra blip" come from, nitrus oxide?

Archie. I get the impression the schedule is going to be hard on the power front [][] If a sub 10 lb model with a YS 140 is iffy well!!!

Hey Dave, I ran up that little V8 tonight![8D]I videod it but have now gotta work out how to transfer onto here.I will keep you posted.Just to fill you others in, a mate of mine bought this 1/12 scale Cirrus V8 four stroke 4cc (yes thats 4cc!) glow engine up at the nats and it was being passed about at the bar in the evening!Amazing that I didn't drop it really coz I was quite pissedIts a really amazing bit of work with all exposed rockers & four needle assemblies.Only about 3 inches long an all.It was a sod to get going at first( just working out how to do 8 feeds to miniature glowplugs took a bit of effort)but now its dialled in it starts easily. Its really quiet and so smooth but probably hasn't got the power of a typical 15 motor, but hey, its got class![sm=thumbup.gif]

Jim, not sure if that is really a suitable power plant for the C140

See you all on Sunday, but I wont be there til later, not too keen on watching everyone do the same schedule [:'(]

I didnt necessarily mean a blip on those lines.... although the right set up should not have full throttle on the up lines - always some in reserve...

anyway - Im off this pm to go and have a practice with the 140 myself hopefully.... been none of that possible so far..

Answer = when the boring pattern round's finished.

Back on topic though,

I dont know how other 140L users are getting on, but i dont think the model with this engine really has great vertical with YS20/20 and the 17x8.

Its fine for pattern, but it wont climb out of the hover agressively. Had another model that did the same thing, and found out that the prop was too big, preventing the engine from accelerating to full power under load in the hover. Maybe its the case here? But think will stick with the 17x8 for the rcme comp and then try the 17x8N afterward.

oh, also i now have some much better foam wheels which actually arent made of rock like the stock ones., so they should do a better job of absorbing the initial shock, and make harrier landings possible without me having to worry about it breaking again

Also considering sandwiching a rubber or foam spacer betteen the u/c and fuz to absorb the stress a bit .

Luke

What sorta revs you pulling with your 140L 17x8 combo?

My 110 is pulling a 14x10 and 15x8 like it's on steriods.

Do you poss need a bigger finer pitch prop for hovering?

Good luck everyone who is going to the freestyle event. I'm unable to go but will be there next year definately with my leccy powered capiche (if flightpower sort out my batteries) otherwise I'll be there with glow power.

Dave how come your C140 needs to be set up for the schedule (whats this mean?)

Good luck everyone for the competition......

I'm going to try and get the Fus sheeted this weekend, to seal it off and stop me putting even more Triangle section Everywhere!!

The Undercarriage plate and Firebox is going Nowhere! minimum weight gain too! will double sheet the 2 underside wing bays and then that will be all the strengthening i'll do....

Regards,

Steve

Three nice flights today . Starting to get confidence that the engine wont quit on me, so starting to play a bit more. I'm learning to fly it slower, it does not need speed, but as I am used to smaller planes, I tend to fly it fast.

Really enjoying how smoothly it does the smooth stuff, managed to do a rolling circle KE to KE, bang on and all the way round. Fantastic.

Elevators are completely locked in, just full elevator and it just settles in. Harriers have a bit of wing rock, but not too much, but can be a bit nasty in the transition from elevator to harrier. Also has a tendancy to steer to the right (may be a bit too much side thrust? dont think so though).

Tried a couple of torque rolls, but a bit nerve racking as it will only just pull out with the 120[:'(]. Certainly not enough power to get out of trouble[X(].

Tried a tumble and that went surprisingly well, though did twist through 90 degrees at first [&:]. Otherwise stayed locked in and wings level.

Yep, starting to get used to it. Cant wait for the 140, it needs that extra power.
