U/C plate now fits flush with bottom of Fuselage.... made some triangular liteply formers and fitted twixt plate and F1, and added some triangle stock for good measure!!
Gonna fuelproof the firebox before fitting it, but not bother with tank bay and hope for the best!!
Looks like clearcoat and 'profilm over the holes' on the outside of F1 and firebox will stop fuel ingress....
Regards,
Steve

Berk. Yep seen the error
Mine has Lite ply U\C plates and they are 3mm laminate. The kit has been changed and has Marine ply plates and thats 3.2mm. Forgot to alter cnc parts to match change of material so slot is .4mm to shallow [X(] oopps. I have altered cnc to be correct for next batch
Luke I use a 17 x8 apc and I love it. But then I cant fly like the boy
I get approx 9,100rpm on the 17 x 8 with the 140L on 20\20 my 140 fz the original version was down about 400 rpm on the L
I used to get 8,300 on the 120 fz from the original first prototype with the same prop. I am now on 30% nitro so maybe we can tacho it at the freestyle this weekend.
Luke have you let Billy Bunter have a go with your 140 yet?

Yeha i did he seemed to like it.
9,100 with the 140L is loads more than what i'm getting!!!!
My 140L with YS 20/20 is turning about 8600-8800
seems great power for unlimited pattern but not so good for pulling out of the hover[:@] it does do it, just not that quick.

Welcome back Baron ! Nice Hols ?
Flew my 140 with new 140FZII in y'day........ MUCH better so far as I could tell - blowing about a force 4-5.
Landing was funny, I repositioned up the runway 3 times to do a parachute landing... it kept going backwards past the start of the strip !
In the end it came down moving backwards until the last ten feet when it held station and with the last blip of power rolled forward about 12 inches ! Who needs a helicopter or a fun fly to do spot landing comps !? Just spot land a C140 !
Friggin Hattori Scale manifold is doing me head in though - waiting on a Weston proflex header to try...... gotta stop things snapping... if they are any good we'll stock em !
Will report back...
OH, PS - flew it on 17x8N for now til it runs in... Good results. Wants more pitch I think for F3a type work but good for 3D/Artistic. Will move on to standard 17x8 blade after a gallon or so of fuel. Also a new batch of props turned upthis week so Im gonna try the 18x6W blade on it in due course - will let you know... probably turn it into a helicopter juding by the size of the blade !!!

Well managed to get a couple of flights in today, but cracked much of the wood around the u/c during a harrier landing[:@]
Now this wasnt an absolutely perfect one, but was pretty good nicely settled onto the wheels and CRACK! now ive got a nice dent in my hatori pipe too boot[:@]
It survived 3 other harrier landings before this one but i am now of the opinion that it needs beefing up
I think the very stiff carbon undercarriage(which would absorb more bounce if it was lighter and flexed a bit) and rock hard wheels greatly increase the chances of this happenning.

YS are pretty much the same give or take 500rpm.
Luke did you apply a little power just before the touch to suspend the model on your harrier landing or let it drop all the way as the model is at its most beefy at this point ?
Sprink are you and Luke coming to the Freestyle comp this weekend and have you entered?
Not heard from Mike W for ages I assume he is coming. It will be good to meet up yet again. Lets hope we see a few more new faces also [8D]

Luke
All I can say is you are either performing the landing wrong or attempting it in conditions that are too light winds... which means the same thing - not doing it right...
Dont mean to criticize but these are the facts - I am certain the UC and mount is strong enough but one must account for conditions ie grass / runway surface / wind etc.
The most damage I have done to mine in these landings is when doing it in too little wind and I have sanded down the lower corner of the trailing edge of the rudder on the runway..... in the last 10-15 feet in lighter winds it wil soon drop out the sky - you must convert from parachute to harrier landing to normal landing and keep the power on as required.....
sorry if I am telling you something you already know...
Be nice to your 140 !

. Only really had my wildstyle since I bust my C50 in april to fly with, and while it is lots of fun, and is accurate given its size and fun fly wing, it cant do the schedule so that it looks like the schedule. My GP cap is not much better, too much coupling on knife edge.
Things should improve now that I have the C140, my 3DDancer is coming along nicely, hopefully a C90, and maybe one or two other planes between now and next summer should mean I have plenty of good planes to fly and practise with.
