Archie, Kane,
Perfect sense! I thought the slots locked in to summat!!
onwards we go.......
I got a bad case of cyano eye.....[:-][:-][:-][:-]
Copping out of major cowl sanding... part-exing for a Carbon one!! gives me scope for some weight for strengthening, ie double skinning inner wing bays.. though with ELE servos at rear and light cowl I could be asking for it[:@][:@]
Regards,
Steve

the slots are not for slotting but to allow wicking of CA into the body of the part.
Cowl sanding not much of an issue for me - just used a dremel along the seam then some wet and dry and a bit of T Cut - done.
Double skinning inner wing bays - didnt bother.... I just done let anyone touch the wings there and putting wings on and off is done by handling the tips.
Rear ele servos will not give you a problem... I have 2 x 9206 at the back and my battery in over the CG.
Gonna bench run my new 140 tonight I hope so its ready to try out on Monday when I come back from La France !

Cowl sanding was and issue for me- required 120,240,320,600 and 1200 grit wet and dry, then filling all the holes in the gel coat with micro balloons. took a lot of hours.
i agree about the double skinning wing bays though- just pick it up with one hand wrapped around the u/c and one around the bottom of rear fuz.

I run 16x8 or 16x10 if using 30% Nitro, I cant get on with the 17x8. the braking is amazing but the motor sweats a bit.
16x8 is my choice,, let it rip they love revs!!

16x8 is too noisy at our club [&o].
Also with that big cowl, would have thougt the 16x8 gets lost. The 17x8 is not much better [X(]. Should have gone electric, then I could have used a 22inch prop
Come on Mike, we want to see it with its clothes on [8D]

I love the 17x8 APC.............. its a pucker blade but it asks alot thats true... depends on your style of flying really and a 17 and 16x8 are VERY VERY different.
As a compromise especially for the lower powered motors I have found the 17x8N very good. Certainly with my 140 on the very old 120 moving from a 16x8 to a 17x8N improved performance and the prop actually weighs less than the 16".
In stock by the way !

Ooooohh.
reckon that might be why my vertical pullout isnt especially good in the hover (whereas brilliant in pattern stuff)-think the engine wont rev as much under the load perhaps?

Four flights with the C140 this weekend, no major problems to report (horah, I've got things sorted
). Had to stop today, ran out of fuel - I had forgotten that these big planes have a drink problem[&:].
Not really doing too much 3D yet, not used to it yet, still thinking that I am flying a big plane up there [X(]. Still it does the smooth stuff very nicely
, that will keep me going for now.
Ordered the 140 FXII, can't wait til that comes
. Once I have the extra power that gives, I'll be more tempted to do more of the 3D stuff.

Back to the build tonight after a busy Weekend!
Nice flying from Ali, though his helper could do with losing some weight

I've noticed the UC plate sandwich when fitted, sits 1/16 proud of the bottom.. Do i cut out the liteply at sides and front to allow it to fit flush???
Regards,
Steve
