Showtime

O.K.
Just over 24hr's since the brown airplane truck dropped it off... my showtime is finnished!!
I had to thank my wife for letting me build it in the house. My my AC in my shop went out the other day. WAY too HOT! Now, I'm at her mercy.
All in all a good build. The only thing that I had a problem with was, no hinge slots cut in the rudder. Added some extra gule around the wing tube area, just for s**t's & giggles.
With the OS 1.08 and the rudder servo in the tail the CG came out really good... just had too mount the batt to the rear of the canopy.
Looks like the test flight will be tomorrow... Report to follow.

RCFlyguy Man that is one fast build. There is no way I could do that. Just to much intensity to sit all day and put that thing together. I spread mine over one or two weeks. But she really looks nice. Where did you put your rudder servo? What does she weigh? I look forward to your first impressions and maybe a mini review...
Thanks,
Barry

Barry,
It wasn't that bad, I had the cable TV set to the 80's Music channel and went to it! Every thing fit really well... funny thing the only servo I had trouble getting in was the JR 8611 for the rudder. (in the tail by the way) I used HS945MG's on the rest, oh and a Futaba 148 on the throttle.
All up weight is 9 1/2 lbs. The pica muffler is a tad heavy but it worked like it was made for this project.
My wife said I was in my on little world... I didn't even hear her!!
Monday is my last day off from carpal tunnel surgery. I'm trying to enjoy the last few day off... and I am!!!

Scott,
I'm just got my Showtime and plan on using an OS 1.08. Was wonder how much room was there from the rear of the engine to the firewall. I want to use the Slimline inverted pitts style muffler with this set up.
Thanks
Larry

Larry,
About 2". I had to slide the cowel forward about 1/4" and drill new mounting holes. I had to do this to make room for the pica muffler. so the stock set-up would be 1 3/4". Hope this helps.

SWEET!!!!! This plane is awsome!!!!
The 1.08 ran very well after tunning. With a 16-8 apc turning 9000rpm, hover pullouts reminded me of a 35% plane. I have a 16-4W apc on the way, it should get even better!!
I put two flights on, one without SFG's and one with. I will most likely fly it with the sfg's on.
I had some wing rock with them off, but it was rock solid with them on.
Knife edge... at low rates I didn't too notice much difference with the sfg's on/off. in a left hand knife, it needs about 2-3% of right ail & 1-2% of up ele. In a right hand knife it needs 2-3% of up, 0% roll. Sofar, this looks to be true for both set ups.
I like it alot. I'll put more flights on it this weekend.
I will try to answer any questions you guys have.
Hurry up with the video Neo!!

When I mounted my cowl this morning the engine was too far back. I thought I had it measured at 5 3/4" from the firewall to the prop hub, but it turned out to be only about 5 5/8". Anyways I had to move the engine forward about 1/4". That's a pretty close tolerance, better make sure you measure twice. I cut the cowl this morning and starting to glue the canopy. I should be able to weigh tonight and balance. Should fly Monday morning.
thanks
Barry

Hey all,
Maidened my Showtime this morning. It's got a Saito 1.00 on the nose.....and weighs in at 8 lbs 12 oz. All in all this is one great machine. The verticle is good.....and I love the way it feels in the air. Reminds me of flying bigger planes. I only got the 2 flights today....that's including the maiden.....cause when I landed....I noticed that half of a elevator wasn't working. Ended up that the screw that holds the linkage together.....it backed out a and fell out. I never felt it in the air.....didn't know it till I landed. I'm impressed with the plane, it ranks at the top of what I've ever owned.
Neo Out!!!!
Note: the linkage screws were the only one I didn't check that came preassembled from the factory.....so guys.....be sure to check them before you take it up.
