I had the opportunity to fly someone elses Showtime this weekend,its been almost a year since I lost mine. He was having trouble rolling out on tight loops and abrupt up-lines,after fixing elevator travel differential he took it up and was happy with it. He then called out to me to give it a try,so I did. I did some point rolls,rolling circles,snaps and it even harriered better than mine did(although I'm better at it now)but when it fell out of the harrier and I pulled up it did the same thing mine used to do,I added a little throttle when I needed up and it rolled to the right, almost getting out of control because of how sudden an unexpected it is, I got it back and handed the transmitter back to him,its more a pattern plane,not enough a 3-D'er IMO.

Ok guys, I need some advice. I have recenlty read most of the showtime and the 100x postings and find both interesting. I have been out of the sport for awhile and have a Satio 100 and 150 needing a home. All this 3D flying has me excited to try and I was looking at getting both a UCANDO 60 and the Funtana 100X. Am I on the right track and if not what would be your recommendation? Also I have heard of a few putting the Satio 100 in the UCANDO 46, now should I be looking at it instead of the 60? If you do have any other recommendations also for a good beginner 3D plane I would appreciate. One last thing, I am flying with older Futaba radios and am looking to step up to the 21 century and try a computer radio, any suggestion in the cheaper range. I was under the impression that the Futaba 9CAP or the Multiplex Royal EVO 9 are good but man there is so much to choose from.

Thanks in advance, oh by the way, I have been out of flying for awhile but I am using the sim to knock off the rust and even though 3D wasnt about when I used to fly I always did love to fly close, slow and low so I really feel this type of flying is right up my alley.

I have had that problem with my Showtime. I have laterally balanced it. I have adjusted the elevators so they are equal throughout their range of motion. Before I did this, they were not equal at all, and I thought I had found the source of the problem. Still, however, when using normal high rates or when trying to harrier, it has a tendency to roll to the right. It only does this when I put in a significant amount of elevator, so I don't want to mix in a permanent amount of rudder or aileron to offset it. Normal flying around is unaffected. I tried using small left rudder inputs to counter-act this tendency and found that it would start to snap to the left when I did that.

Now, if I come in low and pull full up on 3D rates and stand it on its tail, it does not roll at all.

Any advice anyone?

How do you guys using the YS 110 found the best rudder system: pull-pull or servo on tail?

Welcome back to the hobby. I think you're on the right track with the UCD 60. I think your Saito will have plenty of power for pulling out of a hover. And, I think that would be a perfect beginning 3D plane. They're actually pretty stable and can slow way down. I have not flown one myself, but several guys have them where I fly.

I have not used any of the Evo radios, but I own a Futaba 9CAP Super and I am very happy with it. Also, it's in PCM, which is a big plus. I think the Royal Evo is FM only, isn't it? I may be wrong on that...

djkzk, I have a DO 46 with a 100 in it. I think that this is a great combo. You might be wanting more power with the 60 DO. Extra power is good when learnig 3d, helps you get out of trouble. I also have a Futaba 9C super PCM, great radio.

reimorei... I'm using the 110/stock muff... and have the tail servo setup.. Balanced well..

I third/fourth etc. on atleast a S-125/YS110 in the 60 "Do"... I hear it makes her a great
flyer.....

reimorei, I have the rudder in the tail and balance using Lipo with the battery under the tank. I perfer to balance my planes neutral which is no imput needed when inverted or upright.


djkzk, My Showtime has been a great plane to learn 3D on. I'm using a YS 110 and IMHO is the best 4 stroke on the market.

after reading this entire thred i went out and bought the st flew it for the first time this weekend and i have to say i was not dissapointed . i was able to do any manuver that i know how with a saito 100 with no lack of power and no snap problems that some have reported mine wheighs 8 1/2 lb i did have to un twist 1 elv. but that was all i am an old time pattern flyer and was impresed with the preshion that the plane flew yet was fully 3D when you wanted it to be i even think i envented a few new manuvers like a knife edge wall hi alfa manuvers are better with the sfg on but over all i like the apperance of the plane wothout them i use flaperons duringsome manuvers like water falls and they are really tite i have had other 3D planes and i thinh the ST is the best one in this class need a little more pullout from a hover but not bad may buy a 125 latter but for now the 100 will do

None the less, glad you had fun with your Showtime. I can tell you that the 125 is spot on for power. Its not ballistic but, it moves the plane along VERY well. I cant hover worth the life of me so don't expect a pull out response. However, the showtime is just awesome for someone looking for some real precision flying. It tracks very beautifully.

Ok thanks for the advice. I´m also gonna use my JR 6102 6ch radio for now and was wondering how to set the elevator dual servos once my radio have no mix for 2 elev servos. Should a matchbox do ok? Also what an ideal throttle servo (light and fast)? I´m already using Hitec 5625 for aileron and elevator and 5645 for rudder.

you could use a servo reversing Y harness HIP makes one so does electrodynamiks they are cheaper than the match box

The 6102 does have inclusive trim for dual elevator servos. Mix your elevator to the Aux 1 channel I believe in the 4th mix. Dont use the 1st and 2nd mixes as it won't work. Not sure about the 3rd mix though.

You don't have to be old to appreciate good grammar and syntax. You DO need to be somewhat educated.

Judging from the number of comments like yours whenever this subject comes up, the majority of forum users are either (1) not concerned with poor English usage, or (2) resigned to its inevitability in the age of rejection of responsibility.

While I understand that not everybody is a Rhodes scholar, some punctuation and capitalization isn't a lot to ask for. I do, however, find it amusing that some of our non-US correspondents, for whom English is not their native tongue, write English and convey their thoughts MUCH better than some home-grown Americans.

Amen... I totally agree with you. When I was stationed in Korea you will work and train with Katusa's (Korean Augmentation to United States Army), where these soldiers must know a certain level of English. You can even notice the use of proper English with them. Ive come to a conclusion its just us lazy Americans's. The people of this generation are just brought up and are accustomed to the slang of today. Its just a very good example of what us Americans are like. Although I'm not an English scholar however, I do at least try to speak and or write with some level of sophistication.
