while we're still on the subject... Luke did a lovely snaproll the other day.. it was like a moderate speed level snap but as soon as it finished he pulled a wall... with plenty of confidence it would look lovely on the deck!

Sounds to me like Nath was stress testing it.... !!! Take it easy Luke now... ..
Kits to America.... the exchange rate I think has banged that on the head and available time and resource to put into oseas production... its on the back burner for now.
Nath.... the C50 is a real surprise aint it ! Just imagine how much please you would get out of the 140 !

If Welsh likes it, I'll def go for it, but no flying for a damned month! No wait 2 months, 'cause Sandown, then a month to cake up the C50...
Also, on the subject of 15% fuels, I was thinking of using that Weston heli fuel for my Irvine .53, but Irvine say that you should only use synthetic oils of you have 2% castor as well. So, I guess I should stick with Model Technics contest 10%....

Archie, sticker sets....
i'm after some small white IH logos that'll fit on the elevator counter balances, i end up with half a heli or something daft here
a small black one on the rudder about 2" would be nice but there no way i can vynil cut that.are stickers in those sizes and are they avaible seperatly?

Oh yes, that funny snap roll thing welsh was talking about is absolutely awesome when you fluke and get it right- just bury the sticks into the corners and it goes into a really deep snap roll and then come off the rudder and ailerons and power at just the right time and it kicks the tail down right into a wall.
agree it would be a good freestyle manuver on the deck. time to get practising me thinks.....

Flying scotsman...............
Plug OS no 6
Fuel - Irvine contest 10 if you are on a budget, or 15% coolpower Heli if you want to really make that engine purr. Might be worth using the cheaper fuel for running in, and coolpower for when it is on song after youve put around 1 gallon of irvine through it. The engine needs very little agjustment when switched bettween these two fuels(lean the high speed needle out a touch when converting to coolpower)
Prop- APC 13x6 or the 14X5N. I personally found the more expensive 14X5N to have a slight edge. Because it turns at lower revs ( 6,800rpm when compared to the 10,000rpm of the 13x6) the engine gives out a nice low throaty roar, and very good in flight thottle response. downline breaking is about the same, but it gives out less thrust at less than half throttle, giving you a bit more of a linear thrust curve. Bolly 13.5x6 is also a good one i hear, but in my experience its easier to get hold of the 14x5N, just order it with your capiche from Island hobbies.
I hesitate to add that you have to really use the throttle to see the difference the two props. Im not suggesting anything, but if youre one of those that flies at one thottle setting for almost the entire flight you can save money by getting the 13x6!

You sure about that 6.8K on the 14 x 5N Luke? [X(] Sounds way too low to me compared to the 13 x 6 rpm.I am getting one when IH get them in along with a couple more 3010 servos for me ailerons. It's a bit embarrasing at the field when I first turn the receiver on and the right aileron(Hitec cheapo servo) jitters around at idle & has sluggish response for the first few minutes! The YS has about a gallon (US) through it now and is awesome, 11600 on the 13 x 6 and utter reliability.
I am gonna change my elevator & rudder horns for a bit more movement and maybe play with the c of g slightly but thats it. Oh by the way, the spats are still fine, haven't even rotated or anything despite flying out a sheep field.
Jim

Flying Scotsman 7: Weston UK is where you can get coolpower from, order online or wait till Sandown and get it there.
I didn't know you could get it without VAT like that! But I think they will charge you import tax or something like that anyway, so I'll just wait till Sandown then and get it.
See you all at Sandown, if you see me or not...

Hi Guys,
Well I maiden`d my capiche this weekend! What a plane!
I did my first ever elevator landing on my second flight! Just felt so confident when it was in the elevator, so let it come all the way down! Cant believe no-one was there to see it!
A quick question to you lot though.
The plane doesnt seem to want to harrier, As i said before the elevator is nice and smooth, no wing rock and very stable. As soon as i start to add power the wing starts to rock, and eventually will fall away to one side.
Now dont get me wrong I am by no means an expert at this 3d stuff so it may be my flying. So i was wondering if you guys had any tips? I have a good 50 degrees on the elevator, and the CG is at about 130
I have seen the "Harrier around me" video on flycapiche.co.uk so know its possible! and damn they make it look easy! so its either me or the plane.
On a side note, It was quite windy, Could the strong wind have been un-stalling the wing, causing the rock?
Thanks in advance.
And thanks for a great aeroplane, My first kit - and something i am very proud off.

chickens, old school wusses,
ever heard of a high performance motorbike running on castor?
Philly sorry to tell you but your a little wrong, the majority of the highly stressed Engines that run on methanol use castor based oil. Call it Castrol M ,Castrol R30,Castrol R40, Shell M. Call them motor cross,Scamblers, Racing bikes, 100cc karts, 250 cc karts, they still use castor based oil as these engines all run to very tight tolerances and don,t use rich mixtures.
and no I don't use Castor in my engines As I try not to run them lean to gain every bit of last power out of the engines. But if i did then I probaly would.

I under stand that Camels are not an accepted form of Payment over here. However I believe that pounds are still accepted at the present time untill such time as Mr blair decides other wise.
Do you not find that balsa Cement dries quickly in the heat over there. Some times if you sand Balsa do you not find the dust iritating.I find the whole furoire of balsa dust quite annoying and am working on ways to remove it. You could try Flour glue works well as does
wallpaper adhesive for sking cloth to the wings

harriers.
i have only recently being doing these, but they seem easy with the capiche, i have about 60 degrees of elevator and a c/g at 145 mm.
i bring it in slow and pop up with a bit of power and elevator till its pointing up around 70 degrees.
then its a case of keeping it pointing up straight with the rudder , the wings level with the ailerons, and a bit of both to make it walk around, i found i held in most of the up elevator whilst in the harrier, about 45 degrees
