I know of a couple of customers who have used this engine cos I sent them the pipes for them.
Its a good engine I believe and with the Capiche pipe I dont see why it wouldnt hang easily....
We have one flying with a Magnum 61 RFS (4 str) and it manages torque rolls which takes more power than hanging, but it is slow out the top... not much to spare...
I would say 46fx with 12,25x3,75 or12x6 would be fine.
One of those flown at Sandown had an ST 50 with 11x7 on the front and it had plenty of guts... OS 46FX should be equally capable.
i think the best set up Ive seen is the YS 63 and the Saito 72.
Best 2 stroke Ive seen is probably the West 50, but as Baron says, we have one flying here with West 36 and pipe on 11x4. Its a bit heavy now after repairs (was one of the original protos) but the owner seems to get on with it just fine at around 5lbs !
Ive made a bit of a long job of answering this havent I ! sorry !

Phil I didnt say you needed full power just a little more than you were trying on that wobbly pass
To be fair it was your first go.
Try a 13x6 its good. the 12.25 x 3.75 is not a good choice for the plane on that motor to little pitch.
Plane needs very little power to fly but needs pitch to fly forward.

Baron
Actually I dont think the 12,25x3,75 is a bad prop for this motor on a two stroke 50 such as the west.
Its the fourstrokes at lower rpm that are not suiting the lower pitch props.
I do agree though that 13x6 is a good selection for a motor that will swing it... i.e. fourstroke.
I think that these 13" blades are too much ultimately on the 50 size two strokes... if not at the beginning, in time lag will ocur and perhap extra heat and then just when you are trying to get out of a low level 3D manouvre you dont have what you want when you want it

Before anyone starts saying ahh but my West 50 swings a 13x4W and a 13x6 is good and so on I dont believe that they do this without some lag... especially the 13x4W...
Theres a difference between it swings it and it works well long term.
I like the 12,25x3,75 because it has a unique blade shape, originally for free flight and it does pull better than its pitch suggests, but it must have rpm.
The Fun Fly blades now are too fat at the tips in my opinion, but that said, on the right motors with torque they do work on fun fly models but they are not being swung fast enough for good forward pull which the Capiche needs to fly its full repetoir (spelling !?)
crikey its been hot here today... 35... hardly been able to do anything ! apart from hose myself down in the garden every five mins
:stupid:

My 63 pulls 11,900 on a 13x4w the west on a throttle pipe 12,200 flat out on a test rig! Airbourne I reckon the YS has more grunt therfore more revability.
I still say the 13x6 is a better option and loads both motorslessthan the 13x4w
The 12.25x3.75 will rev better on the west50.
but still lacks forward pitch relative to rpm
In my most humblest of opinions sire

In my even more humblest opinion your grace... I agree about 13x6 being less load than the 13x4W.
12,25x3,75 still works well on a 2 str though.
For more pitch I would use the 12x6 on the 50, not the 13x6.... but perhaps the West T1 has a little more to offer to be fair...

OK agreed 12x6 better than 12.25x3.75 for 2 strokes
It will make less noise and allow the less torquey 2 strokes a faster pick up
YS still rules

now now boys
you can't say the 12" props are bad coz Archie recomeneded them LOL
so far the 13x4 ha been ine, no lag, but in the hang i need a bit more control, i have a power band right where i'm hanging and it pops in and out of it. a 13x6 would go alright i reckon, but not that higha RPM so i'd loose a bit of climb, the 12.25 should be good for a bit of 3D and hanging, the 12x6 good for pattern. but i'm happy with the 13x4 so far, will have to try the others.
i have tried a 12.25x3.75 on my Leo 37 Cougar, constant throttle in the hang it was ok, but it had no power to get out and got very hot, not enough RPM's on that pop to make it work, thats why i use a Master 11x4, they work better at 0 airspeed where as the APC likes to bite in and move.

you can add them now if you want coz you have to sand them down anyway. i made another booboo there, i used scrap balsa, then when i came to build the bell pan my balsa bits where a bit high, ummmmm DOH!
