In the last couple of weeks I've been flying my UCD with the 110. Man I love this plane. It is the most fun. It is way overpowered. It will snap out of a hover and climb stright up forever. It has made the plane better in every area. It's just fun to fly. I can whip a waterfall like there's no tomorrow and I can even get the infamous rising flat spin out of this baby. I really watch the downlines and make certain I don't overspeed but this thing is fun to fly. It's what I've been flying mostly recently. Thanks

Barry, do you have any pictures of your plane with the YS 110 in it? I've got a NIB 91AC that I've been thinking of installing in my ucd, did you have to do any mods to the plane to get the 110 to fit?

No I don't have any pictures but I had a Saito 100 in it and the 110 dropped right in. Same bolts. I added one more washer of RH thrust and away I went. I think I had to drill a different hole for the neddle valve but my cowl is in such bad shape it didn't really matter. Easy switch. Thanks

Thanks Barry
The inverted flat spin landing is the only manuver i know. Unfortunately! What prop are you using on the 110? What prop would you recommend for a Saito 80, and will it have enough power?

Spud. Hi back at ya. It's good to be back but I'm just laying low. Not going to cause any stress.Dougwill...I use a 16x6 prob on the 110. I perfer the Saito 82 on the 46 not the 80. Well, Saito 100 is even better, but just barely.
thanks

Hey guys. I see Barry's back. Man!! That made my day....

Looks like a lot has been happening. I've been missing out.
I took my UCD and Twist out the other day and started out with the Twist. Good thing I guess because I lost control and dumped the Twist in to the ground. [X(] It was pretty much toast. [&o] That was my second Twist so I don't know if I want to get another one. I'm open to suggestions for something to put my Saito 72 into. [8D]
Good to see you back Barry.

CeeGee...Thanks, it's good to be back. It's been a long enough time that the "flaming/PM" posts have moved back a page or two. So I'm just hanging out trying not to offend anyone. To replace your Twist...how about one of the new Mayhem 40. I'm told they'll be available in mid September, I think I'm gonna try one. Also, that Harrier46 is tempting. I enjoyed my Twist but I didn't like it as much as the UCD so I sold it. I haven't longed to have another although I thought it was a neat plane and find no fault in it. I just didn't have a burning desire to keep it. Another fun plane would be the Ultra Stick 46...or do you already have one of those? They fly like a trainer and I fly them early in the year (after winter layoff) and whenever I haven't flown in a while. They are super fun, but different than the UCD.Thanks

Barry, You're a good man. I always respect your input.
The Mayhem 40 is one of the first that came to mind. It's a little more spendy than I would like but maybe I could order it while Tower has the $25.00 off thing going on. [X(] I like the Harrier 46 also I'm just not sure if I could see the transparent color as well. I do have a U. stick but I'm kind of bored with it. The nice thing about the Twist is it's only $99 bucks but I don't think I'll get another one. Time to move on. [8D]

CeeGee...I just purchased a Twist for a raffle at our club. When I paid shipping etc. it came to $ 117. The Mayhem from Tower is 170 mius 25 = $145. If you are a member of Tower's super saver club (like I am) you don't pay any freight. $28 difference. Really not too much difference. I will bet you this will fly better than the Twist, more like ... ah ah ah... a UCD!!!!! If it's like the big one it will flat spin like no other. That's what I'm looking for.Thanks.

Sewing props has become a hobby of mine. It saves money and is a joy to do. In the first picture you see how I've carefully glued the parts together (it helps if the parts are all from the same prop but not entirely necessary) Then I drill a number of holes and use a durable wire to secure. Often the prop lengths have changed but that doesn't matter. In the above example the left side is shorter than the right. I'm using this one on my UCD and I simply reduced the degree of RH thrust I had on my motor. Works great. The second picuture depicts the underside of the prop. As you can see this is the less cosmectic side of the repair. Here is where the wires are tightened and where I do the all important balance. I use stick on weights but a word of caution. Once you get the weights in the right spot be sure and glue with 30 minute epoxy. They will not stay on with just the sticky tape if you exceed 10000 RPM. Another benefit of this proceedure is unique. You can mix prop to get your own special pitch and diameter. I've actually made some successful hybreds. I start with a 16" 6 pitch and break them in half and sew a 14" 4W pitch on the end. Works great. Ends up something like a 14.5" and 5.25M pitch. You can't buy anything like that. It doesn't work for every application or airplane. But on certain ones, it's great.
Surprisingly this isn't all that difficult of a proceedure. (not brain surgery). With just a few hours of training you could be doing this yourself.
Thanks
Barry

That is truely amazing Barry! [X(] And to think that I have been wasting so much money on buying new ones. [>:] Plus waiting for all the ones that I planted in the flying field to grow into new props again.
It's been a poor crop this year for props. [&o]
