You must have an angel riding in your cockpit like i do. My UCD was stuck in a tree for 4 days and when i finally got it down it had only minor damage. Man it feels great to see it in one peace. Especially after the initial "Time for a new plane" reaction.
Love the floats raideron, getting me motivated to put them on mine. I have a selection of lakes to try it on closer to my house than my field. May be a good winter project. What type of floats are those?

Hey sctcrash... I think they are home made... It's fiberglass floats about
35"... I put a post on the pay it forward thread here on RCU.. after a month
or so someone PM'ed me and offered them to me for shipping.. $10.00 :-)
Barry... Broom... What Broom!.... It's a prop cleaning tool... Ssshh this is a
sercret... if all my planes are down... Hey I still get to fly
Gary.... Sometimes I need more of a work out... So I do run to touch the
tail.. But now that my sec Broom is out.. I cheat and use it, But only for WOT
passes... I do come in low.. so as to sweep the runway to get more of a
work out....

GARY SS - I have an OS 91 in mine too, along with a 15X4W APC. I love it !!! It has to be about the best combo available.
One of my buddies has a UCD 46 too, and a Saito 92 (I think).
We have flown each others and feel that the peformane is about the same.

Hey all... Seen the thread on the 2nd page so just thought I'd bump it
up
.... And give a quick update....
No... The UCD is still looking at me with them funny eyes:-(... But I am
now more motivated for the fix:-)))... I think it'll help[X(]
Well, As soon as the Mag 91 gets back from the shop.. It's going back
in the 4*60.... I have since changed my thoughts on the engine to use
on the UCD, and with the generous help of a Good Great person... I am
now going with the "gjeffers" theory of engines:-).... Yep.. If I ever get
it fixed.... I now have a Saito 100... Less weight... more power for the
UCD's use.... Man... I'd better make sure I make a good fix of the Frt.
end:-))... Be Good People.......

Thanks

I think they should start races, instead of dogs chasing the rabit you can have RC Pilots chasing a plane. First one to touch the tail wins the plane.

How's everybody out there doing?
I got my Katana profile put together as a backup fun plane to fly with the UCD but I can't seem to keep the engine running. It's an OS AX 46 and it wants to shut off in flight. [&o] On the plus side of that I just get the UCD up and flying and have a blast with it. Yesterday I tried some new manuvers with it and oh man, what a kick.............[X(] All I need now is a 100 in it......[8D]
Hey, the machinists that I work with here at Boeing are now on strike so I should get lots of flyin in...... I'm sure glad I stocked up on fuel recently............
Now if I can just make enough to eat...........[

CeeGee...I had one of those OS engines. I think they are pretty good. I did find that they can get scared. Doing 3D makes them nervous. The only thing I could do to get them to outgrow it is to richen them up a bit. This is especially true if it's a fairly new engine. Just open it a click or two. Keep doing that until it stops quitting (???) After it breaks in it will be able to be leaned down. Thanks

Thanks Barry. I have noticed that while revving it up on the table that the fuel seems to foam in the tank quite a bit. The tank is zip tied directly to the side of the fuse so I'm wondering if I should take it off and put a chunk of foam rubber under it. [:-]
How's that Showtime Barry? That looks like a super fun plane. [8D]

The foam is a good idea. Anything you can do to help vibration. Showtime is good, but for the flying I do I always take a "Do" with me. It always flys and I also fly one of my other planes. But none are more fun than the UCD. The Showtime is pretty cool though. I fly it and the Yak about the same. Thanks

I am trying to build this u-can-do very light. I am looking for some links for carbonfiber gear and Bolt-On Axle Shafts that are aluminum. If you have any other ways to lighten up this plane please advise.

Britton, You could use a smaller servo for the throttle. I have one that is about 1/2 the weight. You could probably find a lighter RX battery that is NiMh. Also there is some triangle stock next to the firewall that you can screw the cowl screws into and leave off those 4 small blocks of work that are normally glued to the firewall. Also you can drill some holes in the landing gear legs to remove a little bit of aluminum. I did that to mine and haven't had them bend at all. I would like to get some aluminum LG bolts so if you get a line on them please let us know......[8D]

Whew! Just finished going thru 128 pages of this thread. You guys are unbelievable. over 2 years of post and you are still there. Appreciate all the advice and ideas, jokes from all. Thanks to some of the people that just won't go away. raideron, sctcrash, ceegee, gjeffers, perkinsm, , barry cazier , and others. I have been flying a GP Slow Poke the past month or two, while i put ucd 46 together. Been fortunate to fly with perkinsm and some others that convinced me to get ucd. Keep up the post. Should have mine ready to fly this week.
Saito 80 (what i had)

dougwill...Welcome aboard. Hope your stay is a long and productive one. You'll love the UCDs. They are great fun. Maybe there are better plane, more aerobatic planes, faster planes, better pattern planes, but none that are as fun or as easy to fly. Love my "Dos". They are great planes. And I've done more flat spin landings with these than any other plane. Thanks

that sun is heading your way Sergio, its heading south from california now
soon you will have those jackets in the closet, looks as though yor having fun with everyone too, thats all that counts, me and my two sons just got back from flying and had a good time(just my oldest son lost the wing off his h9 arrow and it went straight in
, but the wing fell 2-300 ft and came out with just a poke through the covering[:@] nice pics
CEEGEE, i need to put some landing gear on the top(or was that the bottom) oh well it dont matter it flies the same either way
Doug, your gonna have a blast like Barry said there are better planes but none are as much fun[8D]
and Barry is the king af all types of landings, on purpose, and no purpose
he is the man
will post pics of the crash later[8D]

Welcome dougwill.. For sure the UCD is a FUN plane.. a real floater and so
easy to fly and land!! As with all models, they have habits good and bad,
But going through this great "All you ever wanted to know and some"
thread, you can't go wrong:-).... Try to hold off on the flat spin landing for
a while... Or you'll need to learn prop repair... But... Hey!!! as luck would
have it.. Your in the right place also!!! We have the all time best in that
also!!!..... You can learn Soooooo much here... I'm just now following the
"engine expert" advise and caution.. and if I ever get started again on
repairs... of mine... I'll be able to fly at 1/4 throttle or less... Or full throttle
to test my flying wires on the tail.... Hey... All you ever want to know...
And just maybe some you didn't
