the 61 two stroke will hover and pull out if propped right. and forget the hp numbers the factory gives for engines, for 3d there meaningless. my satio 100 has half the horsepower that the 61 has but i will be at 200 foot before the 61 gets off the ground. torque numbers what matters horsepower just keeps it there.

I have a question for you UCD junkies. I absolutely LOVE this plane(hovers like its hanging from a string!), but I cant get it to elevator at all. This is the only thing that my Funtana would do better. With the UCD, when I pop it up from a vertical down line it just snaps and rolls over. if I add any power or reduce elevator throw, it just keeps flying. It does not seem to favor one side over the other so I dont think its a lateral balance issue.

The .61FX should be ok, but you will need to prop it correctly or else you will end up with UCD in kit form, think a 13x4W should be ok, the 14x4w will be to much prop for it.

Where's your CG at?
I find that spoilerons make the elevators and harriers rock stable and almost automatic.
Hmmm. are you sure? Lateral imbalance is the first that comes to mind... ?

Guys the best prop I have ever used on my Thunder Tiger 60 is an 11.5x4 that prop works great what do you think about it?
I let my brother try it on his Thunder Tiger Fun Fly Extra and it had a super good unlimited vertical. It was amaizing!

I have found that using spoilerons helps the harrier/elevator situation a little. There is still some wing rock though - enough in a harrier that I won't bring it much lower than 15 or 20 feet for fear of a wing dropping too much. I am going to try and move the CG back a little more and see what that will do for me.
Part of the problem is that the wing just doesn't want to stall fully which contributes to the wing rock problem.

Where is your CG at now? Mine's at between 5 1/2 and 5 3/4. I have practically no wing rocking with spoilerons on. I know you have yours at 40 deg. Mine are a bit less, like 30+ somewhere. Maybe there are "sweet spots" in CG and/or spoileron angles???

Im balanced Between 5.5 and 6 using the old super precise fingertip method. Maybe it does need to go back some more as it takes a tiny bit of forward stick to fly inverted. Ive tried spoilers and it didnt seem to help but i only tried them at one setting (40% of full travel)

If one drills thru a motor mount and put nuts on the bolts, the bottom of the mounts, where the bolts come out, should be filed flat...it works for me.

I've seen the UCD 3D 46 fly very well sport type flying on the 46 fx. Has a hard time doing 3D on this engine though, but if you want to do just sport stuff you'll be fine. (Also Tower has a sale on them $129 minus $10 if you spend over $100= $119!) For the plane that is.

ok guys, after reading thru eleven hundred some odd post, (took me about three days) I had to go buy a UCD 46. I have a question about a building point I'm at. I really didn't want to use the supplied CA hinges on the ailerons, and I had some dubro pinned hinges laying around. I figure I will feel a little more secure this way. My question is, should I use epoxy/thin CA when I slide them into the wood or none at all? I used a toothpick as a pin and no glue on a tester and it seemed to work pretty well. Just thought I'd get other peoples' opinion.
BTW.....I have an enya .80 lined up for it, WHAT DO YOU THINK????

I had a saito 91 in mine, had plenty of power, and was easy to balance.
Never tried a knife edge spin.
has quite a bit of coupling in KE
Decided to part my UCD out after 3 flights, check the marketplace for servos/batteries/saito 91 ETC out of it.
I like my electrics too much.

2: Yes. With a lot of elevator throw and full throttle, mine knife-edge spins so fast it's a blur.
3: Yes, a lot. Pitches to the canopy and rolls opposite rudder input. I have mixed some of it out with my radio to where it isn't too bad.

I have an OS .61FX in mine with a 13x4 APC prop and its fine, I have never flown this plane with a 4 stroke then cannot tell the difference but mine hovers slightly above half throttle. The only noticeable problem I have is the fuel dripping from the carb because of the engine mounted upside down, and the tank too high, this resulted in several dead sticks.
