Yeah, I do that to. If it rains hard enough it will even clean the slim off your airplane. I use a garbage sack to keep dry and have the radio inside with me to protect it. The only real problem is it's hard to see out with a garbage bag over your head. Thanks,
Barry

What's really cool is to put your plane in a white garbage and fly it around. It tends to look like a ghost....... Great for halloween.

UCD boo hoo idea... Come to think of it, It can be used on a halloween..
say fun fly and the bag could be also filled with candy for a candy drop..
Barry, I thought I had a great idea on eliminating the fuel slime off of the
plane... I just did not fuel her up... But a problem came up on my engine
as it did not start??????????????

Hey guys SPUD here, Flite 3,4,&5-just keep learning new things with this bird. Two great landings, a 10 sec. hover today. On flite 5 I was trying to get the coupling worked out, got little inverted tangle with the air kind of thing going on, then the ground was getting a little close, snapped the stick around hard when I heard a pop. Chopped pwr to idle nose dwn was 10' up flaired and I was down. On inspection found I had stripped a ail. servo. The emergency landing tore some of my wingtip covering easy repair..........Oh well have to try again another day.
Hey guys with the FUTABA 9C what % did you end up with on your ail & ele to get rid of your coupling?
I tried some turtle wax spray carnuba on the plane- cranked it up, spayed it on like CeeGee said, & woah not only the plane but also the truck mywifes car & all over the garage..........good stuff.

Spud, What servo did you strip? Probably because you were maxed out on your throws. You should always leave a tiny bit left for safety sakes. The UCD does some of the best knife edge couplings you can imagine. Why would you want to change it? But if you must, I use about 5% up elevator and 5% left aileron. This is a good starting point. I can't get it completely out. And many times I just fly it and use my skills to adjust. Normally about the time the plane is so far away I can't see it is when I gather it back in and get control of it.
I'll have to try the wax job. Sounds like a time saver. This is such a great thread. So many tips.
Oh, I was flying during my lunch hour today. My rudder came off. It was kind of an annoyance. Oh well, I'll pull out some glue tonight and make it better. But tommorrow I'll fly something else till my knees quit shaking.
Thanks,
Barry

Hey Spud. I just noticed, if you put the letter c between the last two letters of your name, the last 3 letters would spell UCD. Coencidence? I think not. Thanks,
Barry

Hey Barry, I'm using S3004's. I have the travel set at 120%. I just want to reduce the roll and pitch coupling to a point where I can manage it. Thanks for the %'s I'll try them the next time I'm out.

Spud, In my opionon the 3004 is not enough servo for the UCD. The manual recommends a minimum of 50oz torque. This servo doesn't do it at 4.8v and 6v it barely does. It's also a nylon gear servo. That is probably why you had an incident with the aileron servo. I actually blew two out before I upgraded. You can probably do it for a while but sooner or later I think you'll want to upgrade your servos or repair your plane. I use the HiTech servos, they aren't too expensive and the ones I use have metal gears. That solved the servo problems but not the crashing problems I seem to have. Although I must admit, I'm doing better this year. I've only flat spin landed one plane and I'm at about 60 flights. Thanks,
Barry

Thanks Barry, Yeah that was my thinking when it happened. Its going to have to wait tho 'cause Iblew the bank for now. Just have to tone down the maneuvers for a while till I can get some more OT or win the lotto.
Thanks, Shawn

Well, I think I might get to fly the UCD tonight, weather permitting...... I've been so busy buying and selling a home that I haven't been able to get away. If I don't get some flying in soon I'll be in a trash bag for sure.......[&o]

no Ron, i wasnt over DC, because if it would have been me they would have shot my butt down and you could have really used one of those trashbags, haw haw!!![X(]
and it was a blast CeeGee, first time in a small plane and it was the best, you get the real feel for flying, it has a trimwheel in the clckpit and you just roll it to trim for different speeds so you dont have to work so hard on the sticks(once you get up you can pretty much use it to keep altitude and relax), i got to do some s turns and alt gains and drops by myself and learned alot. im a junkie now and might have to hang around airports selling trashbags!!!!!!
going to fly the ucd now, good weather!!
and ill send you some good weather to Ron, here it comes
those wierd looking black lines are the prop (wierd stuff)[sm=confused.gif]

Hey Gary... Thanks, I used up the good weather this AM.... Great Day!!
My mind timer is still playing tricks on me..... 4 out of fuel dead sticks:-(
All made it back to the field and greased the landings... This plane floats
so good..... Held a half a foot hover for a bit... Started to go for it and
touch the tail but the YS started loading up, So up up and away she went
at the top went into a F.S., about a quarter way down I tried to climb back
up, It did not climb up but made the tightest flat spin and it seemed to just
hang in the same spot forever:-)......

Don't really know which forum to post this in, but I feel at home here, so here goes. Stupid, STUPID!!!!! How do you spell STUPID? Went flying today, raining like crazy, took my Mayhem because the rudder fell off the UCD last night. I'm flying, got the plastic garbage bag over my head, it's hard to see, the 110 sounds a little funny so I think I better bring it in and check it out. After I land I stand stradle my airplane with the elevators against my calves and I'm revving it up to make engine adjustments. Well I hear this stupid beeping. It's my timer. Now you must realize this time cost me my 3rd UCD 40 because I was trying shut it off in a flat spin. Well, this time I'm in the pits, right. Well I shut the throttle off and step off the plane and reach over my radio to shut off the timer. Well, the bag over my head is distorting my vision and I reach a couple of times but can't find the timer. My baggey coat I wearing (cold) snags the throttle. The plane goes ripping accross the pits and slams into a railroad tie on the border. The plane stops but the engine doesn't. The firewall, wheels, tailwheel and I don't even yet know what else just keeps on going. Stupid. Do YOU know how to spell STUPID.I'll think I'm gonna quit this hobby.
Thanks,
Barry
