I have had good luck cutting little fuel tubing "washers" and placing them after the main washer. I've never lost a screw this way.

not sure the all up...I don't have a good scale[:@]
but I normally run a 15 x 6 with my 1.00

tried the 16 x 4w but it just doesn't seem to spin up quite right

auw = all up weight... total weight, ready to fly, but with no fuel

What is everyone using for a CG? Is the book a good setting to start at?

:)My CG is 7 3/8" just a bit in front of suggested 7 7/16" I like it there. Still easy to land. I may go back to suggested next time I fly this plane. It's not bad on the CG that's suggested.

Hi,

Showtime users' manual states:

"On the top of the wing tips,measure back 7 7 /16 "from the leading edge against the fuselage and mark both places
with a felt-tipped pen.This is the recommended center of gravity (CG)range."

Well there's no illustration so it is not very clear to me how you obtain the range. OK we start from the wing tips we measure 7 7/16'' parallel to the cord line from the leading edge and then project that point to the wing root? Am I wrong here? Well this is not a range but a point how to do you obtain the range, can someone explain please?

Just measure it along the root, then extend it out 90 degrees so you can put your finger to balance it there.

Hey Barry,

Do you mind sharing your Control surface settings on High and Low rates (in Degrees or Inches)?

Maybe if you feel real generous you can also share your mixes...:D

I have watched your video a bunch now and just cannot get over the skill you have to fly the Showtime....the inverted parachute is killer!!

Also that is is a darn nice grass field (even at sunset) that you fly from....I am way jealous[8D]

I really like it at the recommended 7 7/16". I had it a little forward of that when I had a prop hub on instead of spinner & it didn't seem to lock in to harriers as well, parachute/elevator as well, or flatspin as well. I may even go back a little more to see what its like.

Hello friend, I builded mine with an OS 1.08 and it fited perfectly sideways with the pitts muffler, the problem with this engine is not that it fits or not, the problem is that the OS 1.08 doesnt have the power neded to 3D this plane it all. I flew mine with a brend new OS 1.08 and 15 % nitro coolpower fuel and different props, I used an APC 17x6, 16x4 and 16x8 and it didnt hold on a hover not even over have power and the pull out was really poor. I wouldnt waste time and fuel with these engine and the showtime,
I would go direct for a YS 1.10 or even better a ys 1.40. I was really thinking that the OS 1.08 was going to do well on the showtime but I was really desapointed on the performance to the point that I am not fliyng the plane againg until I put a new engine in it.

back to those silly hatch screws....

someone told me that one thing that can be done is to put locktite on the screw and do not insert it.... allow the locktite to dry on the screw and then once dry, screw it in.....
says it creates just enough resistance to stop them from backing out....

any thoughts?

The idea in it self is good, but loctite is anaerob-hardening which mean it won't harden as long as it is in open air (on the thread).

I have had no problems backing out using the hard rubber grommets that come with the PSP cowl binders,I've also used old servo grommets,just cut them in half(round ones) and place a washer that is at least equal in size to the grommet,they dont squish out as much.Fuel tubing is better than nothing but its too soft,cant tighten as much.I finally had a full day flying the Showtime without dead sticking.Got a few steps of the trim procedure in,the added right thrust seems about right now.No other trim needed, it tracks straight in KE, still could go further aft on CG but will fly it more this way.Does slow HA KE quite well(no SFG),harriers are soooo easy. If using spoilerons, no ail. is needed at all,even does 'em w/o spoilerons but needed a lot of right ail. at times it was maxed to the corner. Seems to hover well, but I dont have the best prop on for that,loads down the eng. too much. I have trouble doing waterfalls, that rolling to right thing when a lot of elev. is pulled. Does same trying square loops,rolls right. I know I'll have to check elev. halves for uniform throw, after that-what??

Hmm...balance seems good, lateral balance seems good... but doing some trim flights, it feels like it could use some right thrust.... anyone find this (and if I missed the posts, I'm sorry!)

Finally got my Saito back from Horizon and flew today... MAN I MISS IT! It just feels so natural. Did some pretty cool harriers also low and slow. I kinda scared a fellow club member with my KE stunts since I was going 3/4 throttle KE figure 8 15 feet away from me.

mine didnt need any right thrust but I have been on this thread since day 1 and I recall at least 2 people saying they had to add some,I think Barry was one of them

Yeah, I think you're right Drum. I believe it was Barry C. that mentioned it so I added one washer's worth before I maidened. Flies perfectly straight uplines, so you may want to try it.
