Hi Frank,

Thanks and happy holidays to. Yes the servos are turned. It was the only way to
avoid pushrod contact. Works fine that way.

Great looking Eagle Serge.
I turned the servos on mine too, and it looks almost identical to your setup. Worked great that way.
Smoke installed ? What is the final weight ?
Let us know about the maiden flight.

Have a happy holiday everybody !

Is anybody mounting the ignition on the side of the firewall box ?
How is everybody's balanced (where did you had to place batteries for ignition and radio equipment) and what are your CG settings ? Just wanted to get a feeling on where to start.
Ahhh....... almost finished.
Thanks

Can anyone suggest a 25-30% pilot bust for my Eagle. I prefer pre painted. Which one is on the box cover?
Thanks,

Here's the video as promised: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/GP_C...1402505/tm.htm

My ignition is at the front bottom of the firewall (side muffler so plenty of room behind engine.)

My CG is right on the mark. Batts mounted in rear. Ignition batt in upper fuel tank area. Engine is Poulan Pro with C&H ignition.

Weight is about 16 lbs.

Yes, THIS PLANE SCREAMS FOR A SMOKE SYSTEM!

I test flew mine last week. It was wonderful! I'm running a G62 so its a bit heavier, but the eagle didn't even seem to notice. Its so smooth and predictable. Point rolls were too easy, with hardly any coupling. The vertical is insane! Its very easy to land, too, just don't get off the throttle too soon. Mine balances right at the farthest forward recommended point. i think I'll move the battery back, but it flies great the way it is.
I mostly fly 3D ships, but there's something special about this one. I think its gonna see a lot of air time.

Scott, great video! Thanks for posting it. Cheesy tune, though. Would've preferred to hear the music the Poulan makes.

BTW, I may have asked this already, but what is the all up weight of your Poulan 50? I'm trying to compare to my Poulan 46cc, which weighs almost exactly 4 lbs RTF with BCM Pitts muffler and CH SynchroSpark.

Yes, I would prefer to hear what was going on and the comments from the crowd.

I bought a Poulan 46 from lawnstation. It was a piece of junk. Air filter was completely plugged, 1/8" of carbon on the piston. Cyl was corroded. This is Remanufactured? Had very low compression.

Well, decided to use it anyway. Gave it to abuddy of mine to mill the flywheel. He did that and milled the head fins. But then he mounted the whole engine in his lathe and turned the flywheel to get it "perfect". Did not oil engine or cover ports, so cyl was trashed. You could spin the prop with your finger and there was no compression.

A buddy of mine got me a 50cc chrome piston/cyl. But it was a newer with a different bearing size (46 has 2 variations.) Ordered seals and cut the seals off old bearing. Then still would not run, swapped coil from another and it popped but ran bad. Swapped to a Q-52 carb and it ran. Hard to start so added C&H ignition.

So, only thing I used from the lawnstation chain saw was the crankshaft. Everything else was bad.

Short answer: The 50cc is identical outside to the 46, so weight would be the same; just a different piston/bore.

Mine is about 4.5 lbs with muffler and mount. I never machined the fins off of the cyl to save weight. May do so rather than adding tail weight.

Scott, thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear it turned out good for you in the end. I figured ordering refurbished engines from Lawnstation was a crapshoot. I'd ordered a couple of Poulan 46cc from them and they both were in good shape and had good compression - nowhere near what you described. But I ended up selling them both and bought brand new Pro295 saws from Lowes instead.

Sounds like mine will weight roughly the same as yours with motor mount added. Should work as well as your Eagle. Can't wait to work on mine. However, I've got 2~3 ARFs to put together before the CE. []

Not sure which one is the Pilot on the cover but I used a female pilot from www.litepilots.com Awesome Pilot but pricey. Will post pictures soon.
Well, my Eagle is ready to be maidened. Have not weighed it yet, but balanced fine with the DA 50 on the nose, ignition mounted on the box, ignition battery (JR Nicad 4.8V 1100 mah) behind tank and radio battery (6V 2700 mah NIMH from radical rc) under canopy together with rx and throttle and choke servo. Used a tru turn ultimate spinner and Biela 22x10 prop. The supplied spinner does not fit the wider props like Biela or Menz.
Had the same problem like everybody else with the cabane hole allignement, but it wasn't to bad. Everything alligned well.
Incidence was right on too. 0 at the lower wing and -0.5 on top.
I did set my throws as per manual. Has anybody tried to go higher on high rates ? How does it behave ?
Pictures and maiden report to follow as soon as the weather is game and the winds get below 20mph.

I have the same pilot from them but mine doesn't fit. Did you trim the bust to make her fit?

yep, I cut mine down with a dremel and then glued her on with RTV silicon. Cutting is no problem and works very easy. Just make sure you are cutting straight.

There's got to be others out there using the Fuji 50 engine -- chime it with particulars.

I have a Fuji 50 with spring starter waiting for an airplane. Is this the plane?
