king_arthur1953,
I can see how using spacers would work but since Ralph C. made my prop hub the proper length I don't have to use any spacers. My plate on the back of the engine bolts directly to the fire wall. Looks like I'm going to have to cut a section out of the plate at the bottom so it doesn't interfere with the brass tubing coming out of the tank.
Eric,
Did you get your AT-6 Texan back together and ready for Saturday?

Zippi,
i thought i read in a earlier post that he had made a new prop hub, but did not know it had been extended. try pushing the tank back a little and just run the overflow line out the bottom of the fuse on the exhaust side and you should only have to put one hole in the new backplate going to the carb.
as far as the Texan, she is ready to rock this weekend, i installed a new gas stopper in the tank and now i get a full tank of fuel........knew something was wrong when the engine died at 13 minutes. i talked to Kerry last nite and he will have the Ziroli P38 and Corsair that he built for us to fly in Team Scale there this saturday. if you have not seen them, they are sweeeeet looking and especially flying.
i spoke with Dave last nite and he told me there are a bunch of you guys heading this way. i have to head towards Louisville in a little bit to pick up the T-shirts for this event. one of our club members designed an awesome logo and few of us decided that it needed to be on a shirt........so we will have them for sale at the event.
see you this weekend and have a safe trip

the address is
SKYMAC RC
185 North Graham or 185 N. Graham one of the 2 should get you there.
Bowling Green, KY 42101
it is about 2 miles from the corvette plant and museum off of I-65.
I had to call the club treasurer to find out the correct address.
need any thing else, my cell # is posted on the event flyer under Warbird Alley in the forums section.

Eric,
Thanks for the address. I got my engine mounted and ran into another stag. The cap on the spark plug hangs down pretty low and if I try and pull it up to go through the firewall it is really distorting the braded wire. I may have to cut a hole in the bottom of the fuse and run it in that way. I hate to go through the bottom but I may have no choice.

Zippi,
where are you going to mount the ignition battery and the ignition? i made a long slot down from the fuel tank hole almost to the bottom of the firewall and coated the spark plug wire with some small wire loom and then wrapped it really good with electrical tape.
did the address work for you?
your engine install looks great. now comes the fun part......mounting the cowling. i spent about 2-3 hour mounting the one on the blue and white rascal the other day. i think i pulled the cowling on and off about 20 times making small cuts here and there until i liked the way it fit.
keep up the good work. i think they may open up the field Saturday around 4 or 5 for open flying in case you want to bring it with you???

Eric,
Yes, the address worked fine. Thanks. I was thinking about cutting a vertical slot but I can't turn the spark plug wire up to get it to go through the firewall. The cap and wire stick down way to far. Cowlings are not one of my better things to be doing on an ARF but I'll just keep cutting away as you did. Since I put my rudder servo in the rear of the fuse I guess I'll need the battery and EI under the tank. Is that where yours is? Is there room? I wont be finished in time to bring it down and I still don't have my prop bolt and washer that Ralph forgot to send me and my Graphics have not came in yet.

I know it makes more sense to have the plu wire facing back but another option is ti turn it to one side or the other then you can make the bend without such a sharp radius.

Zippi,
it has not affected any of them that i have assembled yet. it really is not that bad of a bend, i just put the ignition at the firewall and ran the 2 needed wires and the plug wire out the slot, the plug wire from the ignition went towards the rear of the plane and then looped back around the tail end of the fuel tank (at the bottom of the fuse) then through the slot cut down towards the bottom of the firewall.

Eric,
The ignition and cap are an RC Ignition brand and the cap and wire stick down further than a stock cap. I think turning it to the side and cutting the hole near the side of the fuse will work fine as Ron had suggested. As far as the ignition and battery, not much room to see whats going on under there so did you just wrap it in a lot of foam and stick it under the tank?

Zippi,
the ignition is on the exhaust side of the plane, the switch/ and ernst charge jack are on the carb side. i put thin foam on the floor, then fished the needed wires and plug wire through the firewall, put tank in and secured it, then put the ignition battery in between the ignition and the switches. after all that in one head scratchin manuever, i then packed it in foam after securing the battery to the switch harness.

i use it primarily to seal the tank, but thats a great idea for some protection against vibration. i usually try to put some thin foam in front of the tank.

Yes. I just thought the building book would say 2.5 MM at 1 inch?? Or something of the sort. I hate to take a wing into the Tractor supply or hardware to try some bolts. Thanks. Brian

Eric,
You boys put on a good Warbird meet on Saturday. All of our club members that came down had a great time and look forward to coming back. Your flying site gets a "10" in our book as one of the best flying sites around. Here is a link to the video I shot of you flying the Ziroli P-38

Now, back to working on my Rascal

Zippi,
looks great! we got to test fly 2 of the 3 Rascals that i have been working on today. both of them flew sweet. had to test fly one without the cowling.....still waiting on the Tru-Turn to get here. went to fly mine, but the left aileron servo was acting up so i guess i will change both of them. DARN HiTEC 605's.
