Wahoo, i finally joined the club lol. Just buried my CP in the dirt.... 3rd flight of FF and she kinda got a little ahead of me. Dropped from about 20' and snapped a blade in half! Also bent a flybar, mainshaft, and shear pin. Bent all the bits back to shape and rebalanced everything, need to get some new blades when i get to the store this weekend. This stuff is disgustingly addictive

My instructor won't let me do FF until I master all position hovering. Oh well... I won't defie her cause every time I do, I crash. I have learned my lesson more than once. By the book now. LOL

Here's my crummy first attempt at recording myself. It was hard to hit the button on the camera and take off quickly. I only had 20 seconds. It made me a little unstable at first, and the servo's on this BCP are sloppy 1/16" up/dn freeplay. Bad lighting too... LOL

I'm working on a G2 version. Hoping to get some help from the guy who wrote the one for G3 since Doug obviously doesn't know what I'm asking for (tongue sticking out).

I too have joined the asylum of Blade addicts. I am up to about page 26 so far, I will catch up soon. We have a group of guys flying them on thurs nites in the large back room of my LHS. lokking forward to the expert help.
Also I just scored on E-Bay. Bought 3 stock packs and a stock Charger for $32. not too bad. they will do until I upgrade to lipo's.
Got my Blade on Sun, can't wait to really fly it!

If you havn't flown a heli yet, get some help so you don't wad it up. Trust me, I spent alot of money on parts till I found me an instructor to yell at me. I hardly ever crash now. LOL

I was able to open the plane profile in notepad, so I have the settings now. G2 and G3 profile differently so I just have to figure out where everything goes. So you're forgiven. You're not grounded anymore. Go fly.

Thanks for the input Dennis. I know the value of an instructor. I am a fixed wing pilot and instructor in my local R/C club and have been building since I was about 8 yrs old. didn't mention that earlier, sorry. But I also know Heli's are a whole differ. thing. the Thurs night group has some VERY experienced Heli fliers who are taking the time to help get everyone going and set up. wish everyone could have that. Probably save a lot on parts....

Come on all you guys out there who watch the thread, but don't say much anymore. Futura, whiteknuckle, bdavison, I know you're there. I need to know if you guys who went separates utilized the stock receiver with different esc's? It's a decent receiver and seems such a waste not to be able to use it. Besides, two esc's are cheaper than a new 4-in-1.

I make the bodies in my spare time. There's still lot of room for the battery under the receiver for a 3 cell Lipo.

Ok, is there any way to replace the main shaft without taking everything apart? I figure there's not, but maybe someone has a faster way?

Also, I have those plasti-blades and they work great, but im not sure now if i'd rather replace blades or main shafts....

I hit my plastic garbage can and the blades didnt even scuff but my main shaft is bent....

So I may just stick with the cheap $8.00 heli-direct blades and tape the ends...

The only other alternative is the Century main gear from heli-world. They have two styles. One with the auto-rotation gear and one without. The gear removes with a shear pin from the bottom and the shaft is much stronger. The only problem I ran into was you also have to get longer servo links, which I didn't know until I installed it. The shaft is about 3/8" longer than the stock blade shaft. But I absolutely love the auto-rotation gear.

Gage- you can fly (or at least attempt to fly at first) inverted with the sym or cf blades. But like jeffdom says, with cf blades, watch the shaft.

Hi

The main shaft and drive gear for the Honey Bee CP2 will work on the Blade CP. Or you could do what I do and that is restraiten the main shaft.

This is what your looking for.

I thought the Blade CP has a different main shaft. It is attached to the main gear. The CP2 has the two separate peices for the main shaft like you posted...

maybe they both would work, just doesnt seem like it

Hi

The HB CP2 and the Blade CP are about 85 to 90% identical to each other.

Well guys, went to Heli nite at LHS tonite and flew my Blade. I loved it. got three flights in and by the third I was doing some short, hovers, drifting a bit, but in control. Local heli Pro said I was doing great, and I feel I will do ok with this. the only misshap I had was when I was scooting around on the floor on my 1st try I managed to clip a table leg and dinged the ends of my blades slightly, but not too bad. still flyable.
Think I like this!!!

If you put the super landing gear kit on, all you have to do to replace the main shaft/gear is remove the head, loosen the collar screw, and slide the whole shaft out.... of course some filing is usually necessary on the shear pin hole to get it to slide through the bearing. I can replace the shaft in less than 5 minutes.

They are a little different, but like I mentioned before the CP2 shaft is a 3/8" longer so you need to replace the links with longer ones.

sfinckster- don't you still have to remove the battery tray, too? I'm using the stock tray with the LG, so maybe mine's different. I could replace it if need be by sliding the tray forward, but the CP2 gear is even simpler. Although I haven't bent the shaft since I changed. Wish somebody would come up with a stronger spindle, I keep bending that. And that's a royal pain to pull and straighten.

Yeah actually you have to slide a couple CF rods out, I forgot about that. I actually don't use a lot of the parts for the battry tray. I just shove my battery up in the nose and have a rubber band to keep it from falling out. Since I went to the DD tail, I had to move the battery all the way forward for balance. I have been thinking of just removing the CF rods for good.

I got the new Esky bell hiller head pieces for my BCP. If I have time today and can figure out how to put it all together, I'll give it a try.

Actually I have a switch on the battery so I only had it on for a second. Check out my pic folder. I'm pretty proud of it, and now extremely glad I put it on.

I think the switch better be able to handle a 15 to 20 amp draw.
