Hi
Has any one ever thought of using 3/16" aluminum tubing in-place of the stock tail boom. Well I tried it out on my blade cp and it seems to work very well. In-fact it works so well that when I got into a wreck and bent the tube all out of shape it took me all of 15 sec. to get it straitened back out and flying again. I know that you can get 3 aluminum tail-booms for $9.99 from helihobby but I found that you can get the same stuff at a hobby store for .80 each.

For kicks I rebuilt my first BCP with the aluminum frame and CNC head and twin tail motor. The whole bird sits a lot taller than stock. I have yet to attempt flying it because I still have to adjust the linkage on the head. Yes, I know, I could've bought a Trex with the money I spent but I like spending money and it was fun building. Hopefully it'll be fun to fly as well. I'm still shopping for next heli. T-rex, Eco8.... who knows.
My only gripe is despite them saying "All hardware is included" the head didn't come with any linkage. Considering there are 2 extra non-stock linkages to put on, it would've been nice if they sent them along with the head. My local hobby shop didn't have anything close so we had to bore out some pitch links and add a 1 3/4 inch thread.

* Designed to work with all stock parts
* Ships pre assembled and ready to be used
* All parts are CNC machined ( as shown in picture )
* All hardware is included
* Increase your Precision cyclic control and overall strength
* Head is in silver color with a red stop button on top
See that long linkage that connects to the swashplate and the other end of the whosafassa (just right of red knob) yeah, it didn't come with any of that. You'd think for $145.99 they'd throw them in there. Looks damn sweet though. I'll try to take some pictures tonight and post them.

Thanks, I'll take a look for it. Do you happen to have a link to where you saw that?

Is this what you were referring to?

They look like a perfect fit. I'll order a couple. Thanks again!

Definitely worth a try, I ordered 3 sets just to have them. My rigged ones do scare me a little. They seem solid but I'm still concerned they might break when the motor is at full speed. We basically had to double the size of the thread to get the rods in there so the plastic holding the threading has to be thinner and weaker.
Come to think about it, I don't think I'll try flying it until these come in. (Maybe a short hover or two while wearing goggles) I hate waiting but would hate trashing this bird due to mechanical failure.

On my third main frame broken in tail boom srikes. I've ordered Century Hummingbird V.3 parts CNE012a, CNE017a and CNE018a which constitute the tail boom supports to see if I can use them on my Blade.

imac781,
I had the same tail strike problem and somewhat reduced it by putting 2 turns of heavy duty clear plastic shipping tape (2" wide) around the boom in the blade strike zone. Reduced the damage rate anyway
Cheers

It is usually the blades striking the boom - as they stop you will notice the "fold Up" and they hit the boom. It is also possible of course for the ground to do that
I don't know your particular case - but my experience has been from the blades hitting it...Good luck

bellbill,
1350 mah is fine - depends alot on the manufacturer's weight. I flew many a pack of Thunderpower 1320's thru my Blade. A little heavy for 3D - but - maybe you are nor ready for that?
Cheers

Dual tail motor wiring didn't seem to be happy and burnt up both motors in under a minute. Went back to 1 just so I could tune it. I'm certain I soldered according to instructions. Not sure what happened.
Bird does fly though. Much smoother than stock and the controls are really sensitive.

How many battery packs did you go thru before you learned to hover?? I'm just curious. I just ran out my 8th pack a little bit ago. I only have a roughly 7ft by 7ft space to fly in the living room(no basement or garage). So far I can manage to hover 1-3 seconds before drifting off and having to set down. With tail in I can pretty much hold it in one place, just keep applying throttle till its pretty much stays in one place, then lifts off. Have not had to replace anything except the blade grips, the rotor blades are starting to show a lil wear tho. Anyway I was curious about the battery packs.

pwrofcheese,
Strange- in series normally if anything was going to burn out it would be just one of them. I haven't heard of much success with the dual motor thing anyway, I think I would leave it single motor stock myself (that's what I have anyway). I wonder- are they the same motors as stock?

I think it was about 12-14 packs before I was able to hover a full pack at a time, and I'd say that you're doing well if you're learning in such a small space and haven't broken any blades! Keep it up, you'll get a solid hover down soon.

i run an 1800 mah 3cell pack from rc-dymond. i got it for a plane, but it weight about 4 grams more than the stock blade pack. i use it all the time. not 3d but just to fly around it works great. and fly's for about 20-25 min.
