I'd go with the Euro look and stay with yellow, for the visibility... Black would look the best in my mind though.

Hey PwrOfCheese, how's that CNC frame working out? I've got one sitting here on my desk and I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and build it up or not.. Had any hard landings with it yet? I'm wondering how the skid struts are gonna hold up...

[sm=thumbup.gif]Hey guys, here's a pic of my Blade with the heavy duty landing gear. It takes hard landings a lot better. And it looks cool too with the horizontal fin.
Hey, I got white on mine, just happen to have black skids. If you're gonna do a mod, make it noticable. I didn't put the tail braces on. I have enough trouble getting forward CG as it is.

I don't want slow and docile. Guess I'll stick with the flat woodies. I think Heli Direct has em for $8.50 (flat woodies). Pretty good deal, or if I get an enhancment kit, I get a spare motor, 2 more heak sinks, and symetrical wood blades. Maybe thats the way I should go. I gotta make my mind up.
Try the $20 helidirect carbon blades. Cracked the leading edge of one Sunday with a blade strike on asphalt. Switched to wooden syms while ca repair to leading edge healed. Repaired carbon still flew better than wooden syms.

So far I'm quite pleased with it. I do most of my flying over grass but a couple days ago I was out front of my house flying over asphault. I wouldn't call it a hard landing but I know I've broken a strut in the plastic gear with similar landings. It feels and sounds really solid when you land on something hard and I personally like the extra bit of confidence not feeling like I'm flying around a piece of my grandmother's china.

I don't have a scale but it's a little heavier and for me, I think that's a good thing. I have a broken servo on my other stock BCP but I'm looking forward to doing a comparison by flying them one after another. I'll post my opinions once i'm done. I'm in PA and flights have been grounded since the weekend due to weather (rain and wind). Killin me.

I do recommend the frame mainly because it sits higher so rotor ground strikes are rare. Btw, plenty of force was needed to put the landing gear part of the frame together. Those little 90 degree ends will go in the struts, they just need a little oomph. You may already know this but make sure you keep the antenna away from anything metal or it'll be "glitchy". Also, the canopy had to be rigged somewhat to fit but I'm really happy with the changes.

Can't wait to fly again.

I may just get a backup set of stock woodies. I don't plan on any inverted stuff for a long time. I really enjoy not crashing anymore, and blades last a long time this way... LOL

Yeah, those legs were a b**ch to get in when I test fit 'em. Got 'em so loose now I'm gonna have to CA 'em in place once I'm done.. Gonna hit all the aluminum with my buffer and get 'em super shiny then either clear coat 'em or try some of that DupliColor Metalcast paint to make 'em look anodized.. Waiting on my new BL motor/ESC before I dive in.. Figure I might as well do all the surgery at once.

Did you shorten the tail boom at all when you did the buildup? That thing is WAAAAY longer than the stock tailboom. It's hard enough getting the CG forward as it is...

Sucks about the Wx. I bailed outta work early so I could get some stick time in with my Blade and my 540 foamy (Not sure which one I can hover better! LOL) and wouldn't you know it, the wind and rain started up not 2 mins after the charger started beeping to tell me the LiPos were charged up. And they say it never rains in California...

Wow !!! I had my antenna in a tube and the excess wrapped around the oitside spiriling back toward the other end, and I was having some glitching and dancing. I removed the excess coils, and ran the wire straight back and forth down the outside of the tube and taped it in place, and all my dancing and glitching went away. I guess ya dont want to put the wire in tight coils... Here's how it used to be...

You make a good point, there is "looks cool" and there is "Hey, I can see it!!". Sometimes the two don't go hand-in-hand.

I had an easier time seeing what my BCP was doing when I had the training gear on it. The flourescent ping-pong balls really stood out.

Thats why I painted my frame flourescent yellow. Damn thing gets small fast and flying at dusk is an accident waiting to happen.

I left the tail boom alone. It was tough to balance with the second tail motor on there but that didn't last long seeing how I burned them both up in under a minute. Now I have 1 tail motor and the battery very forward. CG is now dead level. I didn't like how it flew when it was a little nose heavy.

Q: Are you using a LiPo or stock battery?

Okay, I got to ask, What is that thing in the background of your blade pic? It looks like a manikin of a dude wearing a dress.

Dennis, VW trike! I love it!
More on polittically incorrect stuff. My fiance is handicapped (shattered leg, full knee replacement, and enough titanium rods to rebuild a stealth bomber). She just found a T-shirt that says " Stupidity is not a handicap, park somewhere else"

By the way, why do they sterilize the needle for a lethal injection?.........

Quick Blade story. I am a newbie heli guy, had my blade about a month and as some of you know from my previous posts, I fly Thurs nites at my LHS with about 30 other guys. Well by this week I am felling pretty good, doing chest high hovers for a couple of minutes at a time. As I was doing this another guy (just learning also) was trying to hover a foot or so hi and slid directly underneath me. As you can well imagine this did not help the lift of my Blade! As my copter descended toward his I thought 'Well this ain't gonna be pretty!". I tried to get away from him , only to have his rotor wash send me tumbling. I won't bore you with the details of damage, but suffice it to say that $20 in parts and ten minutes repair had me back in the air.

The next day I had to go set up for a job (I own a DJ/ Karaoke biz) and the place I was playing was a club divided into two rooms. the main bar, and a large room for bands etc.. As I was going to play in the main room, and the band room was empty....

after I set up, I got two great flites , hovering over the dance floor and stage. Take your practice where you can get it!!

Phil

Hey guy's.
I just bought a Honey Bee CP and the main motor turns the wrong way (counter clockwise). I was told some of you guy's may be able to help me out with this.

I wonder how it'll be with the GWS DD tailrotor conversion. I'm thinking the longer arm might make for a potentially sluggish tail due to inertia.. Either that or the TR won't need to work so hard...

I'm flying the "aerobatic enhanced" version with a 3 cell LiPo (1320 MAh) I turned the stock NiMh battery into a flight pack for the trainer I'm building for my son..

Nice! My wife is on a mission to replace the furniture in the living room. I told her before she buys new stuff, she's got to get rid of all the old stuff. Got home the other night and the living room was empty. We've got 20+ foot cathedral ceilings in there so I busted out the heli and cruised around the living room.. Tried to land at the top of the stairs on the landing but lost it and it dove to the ground. Thankfully it got caught up in the curtains on the way down. No damage to the curtains or the heli.

I've now been banned from flying in the house.

I had not thought about it till you mentioned it, but the NiMh pack could be used to power the transmitter for the BCP.

The picture is actually taken in the house where I work. I have been working in this house now for almost ten years. My shop is actually in "his" garage. Anyway, the very handsome young man in the background is a marionette made by his brother in the Czech Republic. He only made about twenty of them and they are now collectors items over there and quite expensive.

Here's a picture of mine with SuperSkids Limited Edition. It's the old LE version, though. There's a newer one out now.
