I haven't upgrade anything on mine!!! Only the 8T Motor and CF Blades!!!

The thing on the blades are just orange Tape the one used to patch the covering on planes!!! I wanted something to be able to see the blades spinning,,, when I had the Wooden Blade I used sharpy with collors,,, but on the Black CF Baldes that's the only thing to use you can see just make sure you use same abount on each blade to keep it balanced!!!

shumaker- Here's a little tip for you.

Remove the blades and stick your Allen wrench (hex key) in the screw that holds one of the rotor grips on and turn it as to loosen or tighten it. Watch the opposite grip and see if it wobbles. If it does you have a bent fethering shaft. I have bent mine twice and I just took it out and straighten it on a flat, hard surface with a hammer. Rolling it on a piece of glass will show where it's bent. Oh and another thing, I know from experience (5 years with nitro helis) that your fly bar and main shaft will be bent too, just take them out and straighten the same way and you will be fine. Just don't tap them to hard because the shafts are soft and it will make slight flat spots that the bearings may not slide over.

Looking at the exploded parts view in the manual, would that be the "spindle" that you are referring to?

Yes it's a spindle, I guess "fethering shaft" is Raptor jargon.

I was wondering. The carbon fiber blades can you use them with the stock motor and battery. They are not flat on the bottom right. Besides being able to fly upside down what would the advantage be to use them? Any disadvantage? My friend got a blade for Christmas too and wants to get the carbon fiber blades for his. We started to do the Radd plan but on the fourth battery we put the training gear on and started to hover. We can hover for about a min not in one spot but I Would say with in a 6 to 8 foot box. Not sure if that is good or not? We did not just stop at the Radd battery # 4 I guess we kind of just combined battery 1 and 2 into 1 battery and so on so we did all the steps just a little faster I guess. We have been flying planes for 16 years for me and Jason for about 8 years so maybe the experience with planes helped up with the heli?

Also charrua nice flying. I watched some vids on your site. You guys are about as crazy as me and my friends when it comes to flying and that is not a bad thing you guys are great.

Thanks man!!! and yea we are a little wild!!!!

About the CF Blades yes they are symmetrical and I really don't notice any difference between the wooden symmetrical blades!!!! I have done loops and rolls with both and to me they are the same!!!! but I'm not an expert and don't do any kind of 3D with the blade so I really don't know if they would do something or not!!!!

The only thing it would be that you loose more if you crash with the CF Blades!!!!

Howdy,

I'm trying to replace the main shaft and drive gear..for the first time. I've loosened the retaining coller and removed the retaining pin but the shaft will not pull through. It gets almost to the upper swashplate and stops. Do you think the very slight bend in the shaft is binding it up or is there something that I'm not doing?

Happy New year

Shu

So what is the comprehensive list of mandatory upgrades for the Blade CP and the websites to get it from. I have done all the eFlite upgrades, but am wondering about these CNC heads that I'm hearing about, and this D&D tail upgrade. What are they and where can I get them?

Thanks,
Shawn

shumaker,

It's very likely that the hole the shear pin goes through is slightly burred. You'll have to file the shaft around that spot until it slides through smoothly (you don't want to force it through; you could damage any bearing it passes through).

Cheers,
Jesse

shumaker,

I have found that often the pin that holds the shaft to the rotor head gets deformed. What I do is, after removing the rotor head, while holding the heli upside down (prevents filings from getting in bearings) use a triangular file and file out the edges of the hole until smooth- sometimes takes some work :0) Hope this helps

For all of the new Heli owners probably the best thing to do for setup and rebuilding of your Blade is to read this forum:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_31...2Crotor/tm.htm

Bdavison has done a super job and has gone into great detail about setting this Helicopter up the correct way.

woody0371:
Page 61 of this forum shows the CNC Head with discussion about it.
http://www.bladecprepair.com/man_tr_dd_conversion.html - for the DD tail and along with several conversations in this forum.
and http://www.helihobby.com/html/blade_helicopter.html for more upgrades from an internet search.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, I have ran through a couple of different forums on the Blade, but it's just like this thread, you can't just look at every one of the "65" pages.

I appreciate the info and links.

As far as the batteries go (NiMh and NiCad), I do not discharge before charging again. I don't see anything wrong with discharging after flying, down to 1.1v per cell, and in fact I have had better luck with long-term storage of Nicads when I do that. But, I am no expert!

Hey Fellas,

Sorry for the stupid question but could anyone give me a page number for a list of throtle and pitch curve settings for a computer radio in this thread? I understand a few people have posted their set-ups.

Thanks,

Sam

If you go with Li-Po batteries, as soon as you notice a loss of power or head speed shut it down and re-charge. Do not drain them. If you do they will not re-charge. Been there, Done that. used the battery only twice before it was not good and had to spend the $$$ to buy a new one within a couple of days.
