t,
Did you strike the blades on amything and damage them a little? If so, you may need to re-balance and re-trim. New blades will need balancing and trimming also before use. See www.bladecprepair.com for good advice.

1lo64,
I used 2 on each blade installed between o-rings and stepped washer. Eventually had to add 2 more after spindle stretched and o-rings wore down :0)
Cheers

Im fairly new in helicopters and I bough a Blade a while back. Ive had plenty of succesful flights in my garage running the battery all the way down. I just noticed that when flying my Blade the led turned from green to red inflight. I landed the helicopter and when I looked the led was back to green. I not sure how or why this happened there is nothing in the instructions that say about the led turning red. Ive held my helicopter down and at about 80% of power the led turns red
Can someone try running thier helicopter with low battery and see what happens to the led

I'd like to use my Futaba 9ZAP instead of the stock transmitter. Can anyone point me to a setup thread for this?

T-defense---Your main shaft or spindle may still be bent. Without the head they will balance themselves out and you won't see the bend. First thing I would check is the blade balance, even brand new blades have to be balanced and tracked. As noted earlier, goto bladecprepair.com and make a cheapie balancer like his. If you click on my picture folder you can see mine. It's possible the blades are just out of track, too, if you haven't allready checked that. Balance, then tracking properly are the two most critical set-ups. Clamp yor bird to a table with a board across the landing gear and you can safely spin it up to check tracking. You need about 3/4 throttle to set it right. A little trick I used is to put two thin stripes on one blade and a single thicker stripe on the other. When it spins up it's very easy to see which blade is high. I think I have a pic of that, too. I'm color blind so the red-black thing didn't work for me.

Head Dampening Kit:
I was just at the LHS and noticed a head dampening kit for the BCP from E-Flite. It seemed to be 8 thin washers in a bag. Anyone ever use this? Does it actually do anything? And how and where is it installed?
Curious minds want to know.....

Recently purchased a Blade CP and love it. I have suddenly noticed however GREAT vibration whenever I run it up to about 50%. I put new blades on to no avail. I took off the blades and ran it up to full throttle to see if the main shaft was wobbling but it wasn’t. It seems to only happen when the blades are in place. There is no play in the head unit. Any suggestions??? Am I forgetting something? It’s so bad I can't even get it off the ground. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

2. Check to see if the spindle is bent.
3. If the main rotor shaft doesn't seem bent as you state, look at the heli from the side and watch the main drive gear that is attached to the shaft. If it wobbles up and down as it rotates, the shaft is bent on the bottom side of the heli. I had this happen once and it took a while to find it.
Once all those check out and you replace what is messed up, it should be smooth as silk.

ILO64 and Doug,
I installed them when the head got loose - I think the o-rings compress and other parts stretch out from all of the pressure of flying (and crashing, and crashing)! I inserted them directly up against the O-rings in pairs of 2 to start with, then ended up with 3 or 4 (can't remember -they've been holding the shape for a while now). Just do not put them on the stepped side of the existing washer- that is reserved to ride directly on the face of the bearing.
Cheers

It looks like neither of these links brings us to the right page. The first brings us to a site, but not the page. The 2nd doesn't work at all. Any other links for this?

zooland1,
All the things that you described in your post appear to be normal. I say that since I have the same things happen with my Blade. It has been that way since I purchased it 5 or 6 months ago. Dont worry about it, everything should be fine. As for the red light on the 4-in-1, i have not heard anything more than the red light comes on when the motor is at full throttle. So I am assuming that the remaining 25% of throttle stick movement is only responsible for the final pitch change throw via the servos.... I could be wrong but that is what I think is going on...

At one time, I was browsing through some online catalogs and found a horizontal and vertical tail fin combo for micro helis like the BCP, in yellow. They looked like a miniature version of the T-rex fins. I should have ordered them right away as they were cheap enough, but I didn't. Has anybody here seen these and if so, could you point me to them? Thanks.

For those of you using the wooden blades.... I read somewhere about brushing 30 min epoxy onto the main blades, then sanding smooth to increase the durability. Of course remove the white plastic covering first. I tried this and it works great. I was replacing the blades after every little rotor strike. I just hit a heavy metal garbage can with mine at nearly full head speed[:@], and there is no damage at all!!! Plus, they look cool. [8D]

Does anybody know where I can get one of those red buttons like the one on my Real Flight G3 controller, for my E-Flite transmitter? It sure would be nice to push the button after a crash and have my Blade sitting there idling and ready to go.
