J-MICHAEL,

Logo vid is impressive, me next year, not in my life time. But thanks for the encouragement.

Hey, something you may have missed about Barrick... He's the only man I know that can fly two, yes two planes at one time.
He will tow a glider up with a powered plane, release the glider with magic stuff. Then land the powered plane and then fly the glider.
How GOOD is that??? Rick, has always been one of my favorites, present company included.

You and Kelly have a great New Year,

Dave / Choppersrule

The Logo in the video is impressive...Could be you next year eh ?!

Barrick--

Thank-you for the encouraging words.... Although there are times of your silence here, I always wonder how your doing. You seem to be doing extremely well hovering that HBK2 in your video...I sure like watching them. It means more watching the vids of the heli's when you know the crew behind the scenes...! I remember when you were just skitttering the CPP around... Now it looks like you have excellent control of the heli. Your New Year should bless you with forward flight, as you're a true fighter and will find success...

To all--

Happy New Year's in advance...

Thank you SO MUCH for the complimentary report about my flying for J Michael.
To sustain your claim here is the picture of the combo that was used.
You can see the cradle and maybe the release mechanism. I did indeed fly 2 simultaneously, even many many times.
I am responding because I will now attempt to go UP ONE NOTCH, thusly :

I am waitlisted for the 1/4 scale Hangar9 PIPER CUB J3 (Plug and play) from Horizon RC. when it comes in :
I plan to enlarge the cradle by 1/3
Put a famous 3 METER GLIDER on top. this is the full scale MINIMOA, a most beautiful glider, you can look it up in (WORLD MODELS). PICTURE (SMALL) ENCLOSED FOR YOUR REFERENCE

Even though it sounds a lot like EVEL KNIEVEL stuff, flying two like this is NOT too complicated provided you remember :
1 - you must get UP to a great height
2- it's best when the wind is very light or none at all
3 - the glider will just float ( trimmed correctly ) and wait for you to come back to pilot it
4- spin the powered plane down, cut throttle and deadstick-land as fast as possible (with NO WIND you can come in from any direction)

EASY
I will take movies of this project (likely this SPRING)

RICK HAPPY NEW YEAR !

p.s. after THIS is done several times I will attempt to fly this combo AND TOWING one additional GLIDER with 100' of line.........note: For this stunt I may have to use a standby pilot J.I.C.

but i still Can't fly A HELICOPTER WORTH A DARN [sm=cry_smile.gif]

Barrick / Our bestest buddy,

I'm a senior citizen Plus too, but the old memory is still very very good. I'll never forget your ability with two planes at once.

When you get your new STUFF, let us know how it's going and take alot of pictures for us. I will check out your new incoming on the web.

Rick as always, love ya my friend, (Think I'll have to get one of those BUG THING, helis you have)

Greetings Rick! That is one crazy process! I couldn't imagine even trying to do that. Wow. I'm impressed! I'd for sure crash one of the planes (either the glider or the powered plane). I'm a rookie plank flyer, but it's been keeping me busy while I can't fly my helis.

Here is a vid of the maiden flight of that SU-27 I posted a pic of a week or so ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhKoPfHLqtA

Hey You All, Happy New Year! I couldn't sleep tonight and a snow storm was rolling in so......what better weather to go fly the Blade in right?[X(] It was blowing more than I thought but the Blade held up well and the snow softened the hits.

Here's a video to explain

Happy New Year to you Jay! I'm pretty familiar with that type of weather... that's mostly what we've been getting here, with the odd bits of freezing rain and rain mixed in! You kept er in the air pretty well though! Thanks for sharing.

LOL.....you nut!!!! Yesterday afternoon it was 40 something and no wind and it was NICE flying weather (yes, I flew a flight or two out there). But nooooooooo......you gotta wait for the 10-12mph winds and SNOW to be falling. Today....west winds 12-15mph, 20 something, I'll stay in thank you. Plow trucks are running right now and I'm on a 3rd priority county road so they must have been running all night to get here this early in the am.

That was the best...! You had that thing in great control considering the flying conditions you were up against... Excellent song selection...Evanesence is one of my favorite. But then again I love ALL music literally ! From Country to Ozzie to Bach...Lol.. Also just watched your blade video that was filmed in July in your backyard. You fly it well... No flying here today, very windy and wet. But I like the rugged weather, and being outdoors, always have. Pick me up right now and splat me on the highest mountain farthest from everything, and I could survive for whatever length of time is required...Lol.. One of the hardest choices that I still have to face in deciding on whether to move to Cali or not. Love to much the ocean, mountains, rivers, creeks, deer, salmon etc. etc.

Well thanks for sharing....It felt like I was there with the rest of us cheering ya on...!

God bless you...

Thanks Guys And yes Vic, I'm a nut. A few Budlights were involved with the making of that video[X(] I shoveled about 5 inches out of the drive last night and I fired up the snowblower this morning to remove about another 5 inches and it's still snowing.

God Bless Ya'll,

Jay,

Great video of the snow flight. As Jeff mentioned, considering the conditions and stuff, very well done. And the liquid courage(Budlight) never hurts and sometimes gives you the edge you need.[8D] It's snowing here in Indy, just like it was in your video.

Happy New years to you and the family,

God bless,

Same back at you Jimbo!!! My brushless 3D light project is complete[8D], 3100kv Brushless, 25a ESC and it wil hover on it's propeller at 40% throttle. Using the DX6 and AR6000 in it also. This is way COOL...can't wait for the test flight. Propeller is a 10-7 EP propeller. Might be a TAD over powered (LOL).

Vic, that Corsair looks great, ready for a strafing run. There's too much snow here to do any belly landings, it would just disappear The lake effect bands keep on dumping, another 3" expected tonight. I'm going to measure it and see what we have so far, I swear it got to be close to 2 feet.

God Bless!

Snow is OK...especially powder. Of course, I fly planks well enough to hold it until it quits flying 1/2" off the deck with forward speed bled right down to nothing....it just sets it's self down on the deck. I can land a .40 sized nose in and have it less than 3ft away when it stops...engine still at idle. Been doing planks for a couple years anyway (LOL). I think we got 16-18" accumulation total and it's dry snow. If the wind lets up some, maybe madien tomorrow. Wouldn't mind temps moving into the 30's for this either. Still not well enough to plow the drive yet but no one has gotten stuck yet (LOL). Been doing piro's in the basement again with the heli (I never learn).

Crashcrash,

Corsair looks awful sweet there, hanging from the prop always impressed me. With the battery, motor and prop combo you're using you should get a ton of flight time from 'er.

Jay,
When you mentioned Lake Effect, I had to google map Portage MI. Just south of Kalamazoo and about 20 miles or so east of Lake Michigan. I remember living in Gary Indiana, my dad's house was about 1/4 mile from the lake and remember getting up to 32 inches over night. Wow! Ps.. Use to go to Kalamazoo all the time in my teen years. Here in Indy we don't get that much snow, but they are predicting temperatures of around zero tonight.

Update: Well, I got my box of blades today in the mail, so that'll keep me busy for awhile, balancing all of them. Got three sets of woodies and a set of carbon fibers. And somethingelse too, I forgot what I ordered, haven't opened the box yet.

Wishing all the best to everyone in this New Year of 2008. (Man 2007 went way to fast for me)

Man....2007 went fast is right. Been a year since I broke my paw...downhill from there. The Corsair has enough at full throttle to make it look like an Estes Rocket on a vertical takeoff. I wanted power because every thing you buy as stock has minimal required to maintain flight. My AeroStar .40 nitro will not hang on the prop with an OS FP-40...never happen. I had an Electrostreak a few years ago (long before Ni-Mh or Li-Po). Had good power, but the battery to make it go (Ni-Cad) were very heavy, severely retarding performance. Looks like we're in for the big chill tonight which means NO SNOW falling.

Don't ya hate it when that happens? Did it last week too. BUT...the kid needed spare parts for the Lama v4....so I ordered my part too (saved on shipping). LOL...he's really liking that Lama v4. Heard this in the military a long time ago (politics/rank/positional authority) and it goes: "if you set a man up to fail, he will. If you help him to succeed, he will". I figured the Lama v4 would be the easiest path for succeeding...I was right.

ARROW...I'm ready to help you succeed with the HBKII buddie!

just got back from the LHS....

they had a TREX 500 in stock! Thank god, I was able to contain myself and not buy one.

Actually, the reason for my visit was to return the B400. Yep, boxed her up and returned it. For my situation it's not a good heli. I already have a DX7 and 4 TREX's. So there was no point in getting into another heli and the stock of extra parts needed to maintain it.

So, I exchanged it for a new LiPo for the 600 and 2 more LiPo's for the 450's. Now I just got to wait til this darn wind stops.

Figures, I'm off work for a couple weeks and the wind has been hitting 70 mph gusts for 2 weeks straight. And now there is 4 days of rain in the forecast....

however, after watching Jay's snow vid.... I'm almost at the point of NOT letting the weather stop my flying time. Maybe, I need a couple bud lights for "encouragement"

Kudo's to you for "control" of another heli purchase... However........Are you sure...?! A 500 would be sweeeeeet....! Lol.... Certainly thank goodness I wasn't there with you....It could've been bad....

Go out and fly it, Jer, but if you do go with the liquid encouragement keep it off the 12th story Oh wait, I take that back, those were the best heli pics I've ever seen. On second thought just make sure you bring the camera

More lake effect on the way for me. I measured the snow and it was just 12". I would have figured more for sure, of coarse I'm never a good guess with measurements, you guys wouldn't believe what I tell my wife 8" is[sm=wink_smile.gif]

Whats up everyone, I've had my CP Pro for about a year now, have lurked around here for about as long asking a couple questions here and there. Just thought I would give you a link to my latest project for my CP.
