Glad to hear you got that sorted out Ken. Gotta have a reliable radio to fly, eh? Well, I just ordered the cowl and pants as well. FS had two cowls to choose from. A short one, and a long one. I got the long one with the thinking that I can have more room to balance the plane if it should need nose weight. And if it doesn't, i can just cut the cowl down to the length I need. It was only $4 more for the deeper one. All that's left to buy now is a reciever and a couple of LIFE's. I guess I'd better get a move on it. The reason I went with the DA 50 was because this airframe is similar in size and weight to my Rearwin Speedster that flies absolutely perfectly with a 50CC up front. One thing I don't like with these vintage kits is that there's not a lot of info out there. Ol Mr. Nosen recommends a 60 size glow with a gear reduction. That gives me nothing. Lol. I did talk to a guy who flies his with a G38 but wishes he had more. So the 50 seemed like a good choice to me. Also, I have an Aeroworks Checkmate 50 CC biplane that I've been dying to fly. Plan is to break the DA in on the checkmate and get another 50 CC for it when the Mr. M is ready. I guess I better get to work on it.

not too much to report yet. Still waiting for some deliveries. But i have started mounting servos and making linkeges. The engine should be here this week. I should be able to break it in by the end of the weekend but ill wait for the cowl to mount the engine. I think im going to have to take the tail apart a bit as i messed up on the tailwheel setup. Better now than later though.

So, the hardest part , at least for me, of working two projects at once, is being able to put one down and get going again on the other one. But, I'm at that point now. The Corsair is getting closer to starting the finishing stages, and I realized that if I didn't get the Mr. M going again now, I wouldn't be flying it till next season. So, I'll post a few pics of the corsair as a couple of you showed an interest, but from here out, it's all Mr. mulligan for me. I started breaking in the DA, about 1 1/2 gallons of fuel through it. It's running great. It's been about a week and a half since I ordered the glass parts so they should be shipping some time this week. I need to check my supply of solartex and figure out if I need more or not. I seem to remember having a 10M roll, plus some on another roll, but could be wrong. The plan right now is to fix the tail wheel set up, finish up the jury struts, and by that time, hopefully the glass parts will be here so I can mount the engine. After that, other than installing the wing tube, if it ever arrives, it's on to finishing. Woo hoo! That reminds me, I need to order paint and decals. Paint will be from Nelson Hobby, and decals from Gary. That's about it for now. Time to clear off the bench and get going.

Gary is the best in the busuiness. He'll treat you right.
Make sure that you look at his prop logos, when you go to order. They are a nice added touch to any scale model.

O course. I've got nothing but good to say about Gary. Great work, great prices, great service, great reputation, shall I keep going? I used to use Callie, and never had a complaint, but since I started using Gary, I see no need to go elsewhere. The main reason I went to him was because you can get much more than decals from him. Pinking tapes, rib stitching, ............... How've ya been Tom. Long time no see.

I'm building an old Ace 4-40 kit, that will be powered by an OS .52 4 stroke. It should be finished this week.
I'm also building a BUSA Phaeton II, for a little boy who loves biplanes. The bipe is nearly ready to cover.
We're close to painting weather, here, but I probably won't get back to the Vega until these two projects are completed.

The tail repair is done. I'm much more happy with it now. I never was happy with the first attempt, but kept putting it off. I'm glad it's done now. Also got the servos mounted for the tail controls and the pull pull for the rudder setup. Working now on the 4*40 linkage for the elevators. Shouldn't be long before the finishing starts.

That's what I thought. Thanks Tom. I Want to try to get the windshield done soon. That's one of the hardest items remaining. I'm not sure if I should try to make one like I did on the Rearwin Speedster, with an aluminium frame, or maybe try to vac form one. I really want to make a vac table, as it can be used on almost all builds. I think I have all the materials to do so, with exception of the actual plastic for the window. As for the side windows, I'm also going to try something new to me. Gravity forming. ( if that's what it called). That way the windows are flush with the outside of the fuse but I won't need to go through all the extra steps of making the aluminium plates, again like I did on the speedster. I'm sure there are way better and easier ways, I just don't know them. I got the engine mounted to the firewall, but won't actually set the engine box until I have a cowl. I think I may modify the first ply former behind the firewall so I can access the tank box from behind. It will make access to the batteries and ignition much easier as they will be sitting above the tank. One plus, this will be the easiest throttle and choke servo setup I have ever done. Usually there's limited space for them, but not here. I probably have a whole square foot to play with.

An update on the Mulligan,
Surprisingly the wingtube showed up before the glass parts. All the work was already done there, so it was a snap to finish that up. The glass parts will be here by Fri. Or sat. So I can get them mounted soon. I'm currently working on the cabin top hatch. Will post pics once that's done. I'm thinking about doing some aluminum panels on the front of the fuse like the full scale.

I'll post some pics of the balance buddies after work. as for the top hatch, there's not much to show at this point. still a work in progress. I'm trying to decide if I want to hinge it at the back, or tab and notch it so that its removable.

That's what I'm thinking. screws in the front, with a tab in the back that runs the whole length of it and goes underneath the crossmember. I don't see much point in using hinges.
