Had to get back to business with the Hyper 8.5 after trying and not liking the RC8! It's a much better car in my opinion and far more durable than the RC8.

I don't think so but you can get carbon fiber disc for it now , try the up grade page at A main hobbies here http://www.amainhobbies.com/index.php And does anybody have problems with the 8.5 front end pushing in the corners?? And have they tried any of the other sway bars?? I was told go down to the lowest one in the front and that should take car of it. Has any body tried the diffrent sway bars at all and what was the out come?????? Thanks Eric

Yes Kyosho disc will work and I run the Racer’s edge and like them a lot. I now have well over 9 gallons on them and still working great.

I've just got my hands on a Hyper 8 Pro. I was wondering if it's worth trying a 12T clutch if the track is really tight (for better acceleration)? Or am I likely to just get way too much wheel-spin with the OS .21VZB V-spec that's in it?

I guess a lot has to do with the surface compound. I run some very tight technical tracks and on those tracks I would not run anything smaller then a 13th. This is one of those things I guess the only good answer is try it and see.

With that motor you should have plenty of bottom so stick with a 13T. If you do go to a 12T you should be okay because that motor has allot of top end.

Both times I've run this car, it's spat the front clutch bell bearing. Second time it actually disintegrated the bearing, which then ejected a bunch of shield bits etc all over the place. So, the local bearing shop is getting me in some hybrid ceramic bearings as replacements. Are these likely to last a bit longer than the standard steel items?

I have over 9 gallons on my Hyper 8 (8.5 is not quite ready) and I never had a problem with the clutch bearings. I change them every gallons or so just to be on the safe side. Do you have the CB shimmed properly, is your gear mesh correct and are you sure the clutch is not slipping? What clutch shoes are you running?

It's a second hand car, but I assume it was as per the manual when I got it. I've mentioned in another thread that I *do* have some concerns about the guy's building ability though, so I'm taking this chance to strip the entire thing down and rebuild it from scratch, just to be sure. So, I'll be making sure it's correctly shimmed etc when I reassemble it this week.
I have no reason to suspect that the clutch shoes are non-standard items either. The gear mesh was good (I checked *that* at least before I drove it) too, although I noticed there was a 'tight spot' at one point during the rotation. I used the tight spot to set the mesh when I replaced the bearing the first time.

I believe the spektrum version of the 590 servo use nylon gears so I would not trust it for the throttle and break, if a gear breaks, the buggy could run away.
I like the Futaba S9450 servo. 110oz of torque at .10 secs, that's what I use and it's super fast and its enough torque IMO.

I have a hitec 5625MG, power of 131oz but only .14 sec speed, on MP777 and is enough, of course next time i'll find one with more speed. About my Hyper 8, i have the stock ones on and i'm very happy about the steering. I don't know the specs of the servos of course, but they must be around .12-.15 sec i think, as for torque, enough good

If all you are going to do is bash just about anything will work but if you are going to race I would recommend at least 170oz of torque and a speed of .15 or faster for steering. How much are you willing to spend for a servo? If you ever run good servos you will never go back to the cheap ones.

its just going to be bashing for now racing after I find out when im going to live for a while. I would spend up to 80 per servo but that would be 1 at a time on a bit of a budget right now.

Hitec HS-985MG coreless. Around 170oz torque with a speed of .13 been running one in my Hyper 8 pro for over a year and have well over 9 gallons on it. You can pick them up for around $70.
On my Hyper 8.5 I am running the Associated digital made by ACE. Which you can pick up on ebay.

As far as I know they only carry 2. I think I paid $75 for my DS1313 and about $85 1015.

They are the same thing as ACE even the numbers are the same.
