Any release dates for any patches add-ons, new planes etc.?

Will the extra planes you will be releasing only be models from hanger9, parkzone, and other companys from horizonhobby?

Hey I have the FS One and am trying to find a P51 PTS model. I fly the P51 150 size all the time, I made a copy and made it 70% also for another plane, but I was hoping there was an accurate P51 PTS sim model or someone had made an accurate one. Is there?

Who flew the training demos for the Edge 540? I was watching it and noticed a positive snap in the middle of a rolling circle routine. Looks good. FSone rocks!

If you're referring to the airplane lessons in the sim, these are the guys:

Mike McConville

and Quique Somenzini

The demo in question is demo c Edge 540 eagle sky 1. It sure does look like Quique's style. Just wondering if I am right.

Ok, I know the flight you're talking about. It's not Quique. It's me (and a little bit of luck) trying to impersonate Quique!

I purchased FS one last week and installed it without difficulty - had to disable sound acceleration on a Realtek on board card.

However I am unable to open an inset window. Pressing the "I" key seems to have no effect.

Andrew -- When you are having problems with the 'I' key, are you flying a Pano or 3D flying site? Inset windows only work with 3D sites, since the eyepoint needs to follow the aircraft. With pano sites, the eypoint is fixed in one spot and inset windows are not possible as a result.

Hi Brian

Yeah I have been trying to open the inset window on a Pano site. Thanks for that. I see from previous users that some other people have had trouble with the Realtek on-board sound card. I have turned down the acceleration and switched off the music in FSone which otherwise is scratchy pops and intermittent.

One comment, the level of support offered via this (and other) threads has been outstanding. Anyone wondering which flight sim to buy should purchase FSOne for that reason if none of the others!

I have read there will be new aircraft coming soon but until then we have made some skins for some of the most popular existing aircraft including heli skins that can be downloaded free here:

FSOne is in need of patching asap. I wish you guys at FSOne would improve the usability of the product. Here are some of the usability issues that bug me.

* UI for changing wind direction speed is unnecessarily complicated. Why not allow this to be changed while flying and let me type in the wind speed and select the direction. As it is, you have to go through a long list of speeds coupled with wind direction. This is horrible.

* Make it easier to choose the starting position for the plane.

* Allow me to fly my plane while receiving instruction

* Allow me to select a new plane with out having to leaving the flying area and go back to the menu.

* Include a wind sock that is movable

FSOne has a lot of potential, but i needs a lot of polish. It's pretty annoying that it hasn't been patch in a long time and it still feels like beta software.

We are working on another patch -- it is underway.

Regarding changing wind: Once you have selected a wind, you can change wind direction in real-time by using the - or + keys (on the main keyboard region) and you can change wind speed by using the Home and End keys (hold them down since there is fine control of wind speed -- if you keep them held down, you'll see the wind speed change). You can also toggle on the Wind Direction Pointer by pressing the W key. This will show wind speed and direction.

You can get a real-time help overlay by pressing the / key (which is also the ? key). Repeated presses of the key will cycle through multiple help overlays. First there are descriptions of keys and functions, followed by key maps.

We'll look into your other suggestions for future patches -- these are some good ideas and we've added several of these to our ToDo list.

Thanks for your feedback.

Just bought mine this week. Installed and patched up to V1.04. Flawless install and the software works great with my JR 9303. I'm coming from G2 so this was a big step up. I used G2 just to practice stick moves and didn't feel it was very realistic. FSOne has changed my mind and now I'm thinking about buying a gaming rig with a big flat panel just so I can get the full benefit. Anyway, a couple questions for Brian. Not that I'm complaining, but why is the transmitter setup for the 9303 so much different (and easier) than other transmitters? With other transmitters, even other JR transmitters, you have to use the "XX + emu" and then execute a lot of steps to get it set up. With the 9303, you just calibrate it as if it was the TacCon box and voila, you're done for all planes. Easy! Second question: Is the 9303 transmitting when plugged into the sim or is it using the DSC function and the RF module is inactive? Last question (for now): I have an old ('98 vintage) Futaba FP-T6VA transmitter that I'd like to use. When plugged into the USB interface using the provided cable, I get nothing when looking at the interface in the MS Game Controller gadget. This is with the transmitter switched on. Is this transmitter just too old to be compatible or am I missing something? Thanks for a GREAT sim and I look forward to additional planes. I'm going to log off now and go fly the Tribute indoors. What a hoot!

As you improve and upgrade FSOne, one feature that I'd like to see is the ability to model my own flying field for flying pattern practice - or does this feature already exist?

Thanks,

Bob

Glad you like the sim.

We are definitely learning more as we get feedback regarding transmitter setups. Fortunately, the 9303 is easier than others. I'll let Michael reply regarding transmitter details...

Hmmm, 3D or Pano, I don't know. I was just curious about the capabilities. I created a 3D site in another software package. That way, when someone flew too near the tree line, they crashed - one reason for my making up that field - it was realistic for the fliers.

Will that also happen in Pano mode? I am assuming it won't since there won't be a way to define the trees and other obstacles from the rest of the backdrop.

Does this feature already exist in FSOne? I just put a new 2.13 GHz DuoCore machine on order today and was anticipating picking FSOne at the WRAM show next week. That's the reason for my unfamiliarity with the software.

Thanks for any info that you can offer.

FS One Panos can have collisions, but as you suggest, it is more difficult to define the collision impact of tress and such than a 3D site.

We haven't yet published how to create flying sites (either Pano or 3D). The question is which type is of greater interest to most users. A basic pano (without collisions) is fairly straightforward. Getting it to look professional takes good photography, of course.

If there is a lot of interest in creating custom Panos, we can move that up the priority list.

Personally, I would prefer the 3D version. I realize that it's harder to make up a field using 3D, but it's more accurate. The Pano would be more realistic, but there would not be an opportunity to learn to avoid obstacles. Just my $.02.

Thanks,

Bob

I too would prefer to create 3D sites. In fact, I have not been using FSOne because of this lack in feature/documentation.

An improvement over G3 would be the straight forward ability to introduce your own objects, using tools such as Gmax or 3ds

Hi,

I am with you 100%. The lack of definative information on FUNCTION and DESCRIPTION allowing users to move along on a sensable path of learning is nothing short of arrogence. I have been in touch with Hanger 9 and they tell me that a instruction manual is in the works. The sad thing about the present situation is that the potentially great capability of the sim can't be realize under the present managment. I have my system on a new Vista platform which works OK.

Map Gadget

The map gadget overlay is turned on w/ the 'm' key. Pressing it
repeatedly cycles through the three types of maps. In the overlay,
there are three things:

Runway (magenta)
Airplane (red)
View Vector (blue)

The first map (1st time 'm' is pressed), is the "runway-aligned" map.
In this one the runway is frozen. The airplane moves around as it
flies. The blue vector is the direction of the pilots' head when
standing on the ground.

The second map (2nd time 'm' is pressed) is the "view-aligned" map. Now
the blue vector is pointed straight ahead (frozen on the map). This is
the direction that the pilot is looking. Now the airplane and runway
move relative to the blue vector.

The third map (3rd time 'm' is pressed) is the "aircraft-centered" map.
Now the red airplane icon is pointed straight ahead (frozen on the map).
This is the orientation of the plane. Now the pilots' view and runway
move relative to the red airplane.

Pressing 'm' will then toggle off the map-cycle.

Pressing 'p' with any of these will help in figuring out (seeing what
they do) consistent with what I've described above.

For me, only the first map is useful. But that's just me. Other people
might like the other ones, especially if they fly w/ the airplane in a
3D site.

If you're flying with the airplane (moving along w/ the airplane in a 3D
site), then the "aircraft-centered" map will be useful. It will show
where the runway (magenta) is relative to the airplane. The blue vector
will still show the view direction of the pilot.

The "view-aligned" when flying w/ the airplane is more intuitive because
it will indicate the orientation of the airplane relative to the view
and also the orientation/location of the runway relative to the view.

I hope that helps.

Michael
