The model is looking good! I have just ordered one for my MW44 will be trying to keep it light! Have you thought about tanks yet?

Do you think it would be possible to trim some of the ducting away to fit a larger tank? You probably don't need the area of inlet for a turbine that you do for a DF.

By the way I figured out all the woodwork for the Jetco it's almost ready for paint.

Your Jetco looks great John!
You will be very plesad with the way it flies.
Im exited to hear how it performs with the 44.

I have bought 2 750ml Dubro tanks, that Ill hook up in series. They are directly on CG. I will cut a bit of the duct away, so they will go about an inch further forward than on the pic.

I have also glued the elevator stabs onto the pivot tube.

Looking at some other threads it looks like the hawk imported by Kondor Model Products is made by ESM co. in China. It is not the AMD/ Jet Hanger version. The ESM operation looks impressive on the KMP site with CAD-CAM design and CNC laser cutting. Is this the spinoff company that left AMD? Can I purchase this aircraft from Kondor Model Products with any confidence? I await tour answers. Doug

Hi Paul

My jet was KMP, it come with landing gear , when i buy the jet i look in the box and some writing
was block by a pen marker, when i open the box i see that someone open one of the bag to cut
the decals, i find out after that they cut the name of JHH, i think this jet is the same i did see few in China and from the outside look the same jet to me, but make sure you order the third version
from KMP or others i think you will be very happy.

cheers

They could have done the wheel wells different.......its a tight fit with the eurokit legs.

it would look the same if you had used the supplied wire strut.....

What a great thread, great photos, spot on SJN keep them coming. A few posts have asked about the JJ1400 and wanted an unbiased view. I also got my JJ1400 from Andy the UK rep, this after a long call talking about turbines, homebuilts and what mods he made and warranty he gave etc, etc. The replies were right, giving me confidence and technically was what I expected.
I ordered the basic JJ1400 and then hooked up my espiel FADEC with a Behotec pump (both items well proven) My JJ1400 runs great, no problems at all in any way, though I do want to change and tweak the FADEC settings. I will post a video very soon and have promised to upload any other videos (just a little prompt to Sonnich) as I don't have bandwidth problems.

Yesterday I ordered and paid for my second Jetjoe JJ turbine from Andy and today I ordered the Hawk from Colchester Models UK for it to go into!! ENUF said I think.

My own site is RCplansguide.com (just to show I am impartial) but I think you'll appreciate I am partial to these UK modded JJ1400 turbines.

Ive been fiddling with the nose wheel retract....not finished and opertionel yet.... But I hope it will work out ok.

I have also bought some heavy duty control horns for the rudder and ailerons. I think the stock ones just wont cut it..........and the guys that have to check, and say ok for the plane would never let it get in the air with them

The nosegear install looks neat. How are you going to run your control wires? Pics and description please when done?

Please let us know how it flys with the extra weight of the 12 lb engine and fuel. I for one want to get one if it is a keeper. Thanks Russ

Of course, I will document everything [8D]

It looks like you glue a wooden dowl in the nose, and double back the steering cables. I have not done this before this way, but it looks simple enough

Russ, Im in no doubt that it will fly great, as I have seen it in action live with a wren supersport .

See the little vid that was taken of it : http://bornholm.adsl.dk/modelfly/fil...rup%20Hawk.wmv

It works really good, and is fairly simple to set up. I think you'll like it.

From the brief vid the landing speed of the Hawk didn't look to be too fast with the 12lb turbine. Should be even better with the 44.

Looks like Andy isn't the UK agent for JJ anymore[&o]

I emailed him to enquire about buying a JJ1400 and he told me as of today (march 29th) he wont be the UK agent!!

Waiting for a reply as to if he knows who will be the new UK agent, if they will go through the same procedures as he did, i.e NDT testing
of the turbine wheels, modifications and balancing etc?
