Ah! Makes sense about the decals! Thanks all.
@Dave: what is the US equivalent of your recommended nosewheel servo? Can't find the JR 579 on Horizon US. And it will handle the unreg 6.6v from the 123's right? What are the recommended servos to drive the up6 & up3 valve in the jr world?

Mc35 or mn48s if you want to use mini/micro servos should be fine for up3 and up6. Or any standard size servo you have laying around.

Any metal gear hi torque for steering should be fine..im taking a shot in the dark but if I recall the z590m may be somewhat close to the
Jr579 i think it's like 90-100oz metal gear analog.

I was just looking at that earlier today for my UF build and the JR ST126MG looks good, almost same size as 8411 and 142 oz. in. at 6v.

Dave,

You don't happen to still have that pattern for the frame ring, do you?

Guys

ES579 is JR's numbers at 6.0v 9.5kg metal gear non digital.
I'd use JR 362 on the UP3, UP 6 can work the midi size servos quite hard, so maybe use two 3401's (3421's) to match the install?

Sure I have the loop pattern here somewhere. pm me a fax number if you have one, third world in my office and no scanner hooked up ;-)

Thanks Dave - as always!
Ordered equiv HiTech for the valves. JR for everything else as previously stated.
How about an aluminum arm set for the primaries? Anyone have a favorite? Obviously they don't need to be very long.

Klenke - can you confirm you ordered this cockpit for yours? http://www.globaljetclub.com/index.p...roduct_id=1773

Yep, that's the one. Its actually a bit small for the CARF Hawk, but with a few mods, it seems like it will look OK. Bob Neal has his already installed, but I haven't seen it yet. Maybe we'll get a few pictures of it on Sunday...

I have installed gold (JR) V1's from Secraft very nice..
On the elevator servos I have had ali arms since I built her, drilled out and tapped to M3 then loctited in a M3 phosphor bronze screw with the correct size hole to match the clevis perfectly so no slop and hopefully little wear etc

You don't need Aluminium arms! Its just dead weight. With JR servos the Super Servo arm set is all that is required.
The GJC Cockpit will only allow a bust to or top part of pilot to be fiited, the seats are not wide enough for a 1/5th scale pilot.
Although the DerJet one is more, its way more scale.

So we've been looking at the flap horns on our Hawk, and sure enough, they don't line up with the flap servo. I thought that CARF had fixed this? Ours is a custom scheme, so we know its not an old one that has been in stock somewhere...

They do include some extra horns, so I guess we'll just install some new ones that are in line with the servo.

Bob,
Any pics of your custom scheme yet? Can't wait to see it at JOK!

Its OK in the right places...but in flying models...pointless. Minimal everything is my way. I have seen quite a few people buy models because they fly so well....then add lots of little brackets and multiple festo connections...all of which weigh "nothing" (in the mind of the people) lots of nothing is a considerable something! People put joints in tubes, so disassembly is easy. Mmm if you really must, cut the tube and then add a joint after.

CARF said they had done some 2012 Hawks...cool

"Some" dang, we were hoping to be the first! Well, in the US maybe. Ralle had the decals for it, so there must be a few 2012's out there from one manufacturer or another...

I am in the middle of my 2012 scheme. But I got the all white model so I could paint it. Now I just became depressed that I didn't get it painted by CARF. Would have been MUCH easier

I'm not aware of any being built here, so sure you can still be first. 40 hours you will be done by the weekend...;-)

MUCH easier, but also more expensive! I'd have done it myself, but I have way too many projects in the workshop queue...

40 hours - ha! We'll be lucky to get it done in 40 weeks! Well, maybe not, but it will be sometime in 2014 for sure. Louie is doing a bunch of the work too, and so school gets in the way at times.

ha! We'll be lucky to get it done in 40 weeks! Ah...my new build speed! :-) Should be enjoyed, flying is only one aspect of this hobby, many people miss out on the pleasure of workshop envy ;-)
School is way more important than toys! Its what pays for them long term!
