The pilot is just sitting there right now, I'll post pics this weekend of the layout.
The canopy tint is 8 parts clear 1 part black base and one part gold candy. Just your basic base coat - clear coat. Sprayed on the inside after a good scuff with a scotch-bright pad.

Hey Guys,
Maiden flight went well today. Very nice flying aircraft and a joy to land.
My plane with a full UAT is 26lbs and I was very careful to not add any unnecessary weight.
The P-80se has good power but is a bit quiet. (a jet should roar) But very stingy on fuel. Could easily get 9 min. flights.

Guys,
All of my control throws are as per plans (high rate) exept the rudder needed a bit more.
Have any of you noticed how squirrely the ground handeling is on take off roll?

James - I'm flying the Viper 2M with a P70, which has slightly less thrust (17.3) than the old P80. It flies fine, and I can fly around quite nicely and scale like at half throttle.
However, my takeoff roll is no doubt a little longer, and I do not have tremendous vertical performance. If you are OK with that, the standard P80 will work just fine.

Ali I know you had a P80SE in yours and you have stated the lighter the better. So I ordered and recieved the painted in the mold version and will try to keep it as light as possible. If you were to build one today what turbine would you install? I am debating between the Merlin 90, Rabbit, Cheetah or the P80SE and would like your input.
Also do you still have any stickers in stock?

Ihave A wren 120 in mine... solves all problems... great takeoff from grassand verticals are GOOD!!!
it is not a heavy turbine and balance was achieved without adding any lead in the front!

I love the P-80 set up. its so reliable and so quiet and so fuel efficient. That being said I am just about to take a VJ2m home tonight and start building it for a Merlin 90. I am really tempted to go for a super light weight set up on this one and see how/ if it changes the way this jet flies ( I am thinking no gear doors, no cockpits, new GBRJET tailpipe) but then again I love the ket as it is so might just try it with the Merlin, or even the Kingtech. Decisions, decisions.
2m Sticker sets sold out just before the holidays. I will email my sticker man to see if I can get some more made up for next week.
Regards Al

Thanks for the reply. If I am not mistaken the Merlin 90 should be 1 pound lighter than the P80se or the Kingtech. The price of the Kingtech is tempting but the weight is my number one concern. Does anyone else have any thoughts on the turbine selection?

My viper is going to be here next week
. Now a big question on the turbine. I am going with jet central because support is here in Mexico but still dont know if going with the rabbit or the cheetah. People here in Mexico have flown it with the Cheetah but most of them fly @8000ASL and i fly @ sea level but in grass. Is it better keep it light? or is it better more power? Suggestions will be welcome.
Thanks a lot,
Vic

hello fury
i am in the ordering process and i have access to both rabbit and cheetah
i have had pleasure of seeing it fly on both engines
remember cheetah is just a small amount lighter and way more powerful
if it is all asphalt and light keep it light rabbit is perfect good vertical
if you know you will be traveling and not knowing other conditions go with cheetah
i thnk that is my plan
i have two rabbits and one cheetah
i might order another cheetah it is also a perfect size motor for other projects in my mind
thanks g
