Firefox opened it, seems like you could dial down preheat some more and leave fuel ramp where it is 2. Some specs of flashy blue and yellow flame won't damage plane and is perfectly fine, especially Diesel, what we want to avoid is a lengthy orangy red flame. I think you are on the right track, congrats!

Hi Mike,

What software are you using to import your ECU data to your PC?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

First you need the adapter:
http://www.xicoy.com/catalog/product...jn76ntk6611is6

and Noooo it's not a simple servo connector to USB, it's got chips inside the black box.

Then the software is at:
http://www.espiell.com/FadV5cInst.zip

Mike

with the diesel in Mikes K80, it has a good bit of smoke trailing behind it, very noticeable in hard pulls, for those of us who aren't used to seeing smoke without a smoke system it will make you think you just flamed out (same puff of white smoke as a flame out)...........and it gives a nice little puff when the wheels touch down at landing. it also had a noticeable lag in spool, could be a setting needs adjusted???

Congrats to you too!!

Hmmmm Waivers are happening with KingTech's
I'm glad KingTech decided to produce RC turbines, if it wasn't for them I would probably be standing on the sidelines with nitro.

I LIIIIIke the smoke Just wait till I put a smoke system on it [sm=thumbup.gif]

As far as the spool up I have that time reduced greatly with a little more room to decrease if needed on the next flight.
Derrick gave it his approval after my adjustment....

What's the difference in running diesel and what mix I have been able to obtain clean JetA1 but don't know how long that arrangement will last so diesel would be more economic?

Noob here.  I am going throu the lear. sequence for the radio.

Aftef I am done I turn it al off and set trim to low, stick to low.  I get the message stick low o. the scree.  If I move trim up to idle/ 0 or move the stick up some it starts a coolong sequence.  If I move stick to full and back down it starts a cooling cycle for a second then the starter turns off andit says starting but nothing is happening.

From my understanding stick low means the trim or stick are higher than idle, whic done make sense as they are both bottomed out.

I am also getting random battery! messages.  Using a new ful charged 6.6 v life pack..

that needs to be a 3s LiFe pack (9.9v), or a 2s LiPo (7.4v)

Joey,

I think you all ready know this but just in case, Futaba throttle needs to be reversed at the Tx. Then go through the Tx calibration procedure for ECU.

Hey guys, when it said full power I was putting the trim to max too.  Realized that is wrong.

I used a 7.2 lipo now.  Here is what it does:
Put trim to nuetral, it says ready.  put stick to max and it spins up into a cooling cycle?
Go to stick low and it starts.

It goes through it stuff, but the burner tmpe is abou 14C, never gets higher.  The pump makes some odd noises, no fuel flowing.

I did a fuel pump test and it shot fuel ouit like crazy.

Tried to start 2 times both took about 2 mins then said ignition failed.

I am using a k80F.  SHouldnt the burner temp be getting up there pretty good?

Ignition is timing out because it's not seeing a rise in temp. On a new turning it sometimes takes a few failed attempts to prime the kerosene start line. You should hear the solenoid clicking during ignition attempt this is how it meters fuel flow to the turbine for ignition.

I dont have instuctions for k80f,
What do I do with the gas port?  Does a kero line go into that off the pump throu the other solenoid?

Nothing is connected to gas line, I figured it not needed.

also how do I clear fuel from engine, I want to make sure it is empty.

Yes!! the gas port is for kerosene start, it hooks to second solenoid and used during start only.

Complaints!!

The instructions for K80F do not exist, as a new user this is a major over sight.  This isnt rocket science but its not common knowledge the gas line needs to be kero.
The FOD screen requires me to cut holes in it for the tubes, which is moronic.  They should cut the holes and put bushings in there so metal is not shafing on the cheap lines they supplied.
The k80 comes with some super crappy fuel lines, lookes like aquarium line.  Does anyone know of an alternative that can be used?  Tygon wont work because of the fitting used due to the OD.
Finally, having to unplug these crappy lines from the turbine each time I want to run it is ASSININE
Also, not enough of the 4mm line came with it, I need at lease twice as much as supplied.  Then I have about 5 times too much 3mm line.
The GSU screen is worthless in the cold.  Come on its 2011, this is 1980s technology in there.  Hell I can get a program an LED screen for my arduino for a bout 10 bucks.  Somone desiging a GSU should be using a COLORED LED screen by now.    The cost would be minimal.  But they are making a killing of the GSU anyways, its about $5 worth of parts.

Ok done comlaining, now I am going to run it.  Lets see what its got.

RTFM. Screwing around with a turbine, having no experience, let alone a manual is asking for a lot more trouble than you've gotten so far. Quit while you're behind and acquire a proper manual. I just got home from helping a new jet flyer who happens to be using a K80F. There is nothing "crappy" about it. It just starts, runs, and flies. Of course HE read the manual...

everything you need to know about safely installing and running the K80F is located here in this very thread. if you don't have the time to read all of it and find it, then by all means ask before you do something you're not sure of.
