Barry, I have a gas start K80E. If I have to use diesel can I do so with a 2S lipo? Since ignition is provided by the gas the 2S only needs to pump the fuel in and power up the ECU.
Can the K80E ECU take 3S LiPo ?

Sandy, ECU can not take 3S LiPo, nor would the starter motor, do not use 3S LiPo. Please follow my instructions as previously mentioned, don't use 2S LiPo for Diesel, you will wet start, go with 3S LiFe or 7C NiMh, thanks.

Dr. Honda, also as mentioned, Diesel provide more thrust (3 to5%), better fuel efficiency and less oil also 3 to 5%.

Regards,
Barry

Hello, I am going to purchase kingtech K80.  Please advise if this is a good idea and I will get good support, and the company will still be around for awhile.  PM me if you desire.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info... but doesn't it make the engine run hotter too? I guess it's still in acceptable limits. (Sorry for the dumb questions)

Hi Tony, no worries, no it won't run hotter, same EGT or minutely lower if anything, say 1% on my last testing, more on the subject, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10..._6/key_/tm.htm ref. post #130

seams with more fuel efficiency, and more thrust produced it would be a noticeable bit cooler EGT.

Yes Sir, lower pump load as well, all in all, Diesel is a great fuel for KingTech.

Barry
I think you have misunderstood Sandys question. Shouldn't a gas start K-80 be fine with the 2s lipo? Only the kero start version would need the extra battery voltage.

You are right Mark, thanks, sorry about the confusion Sandy, you are fine running your propane start K-80E with Diesel the way it is with 2S LiPo, but never 3S LiPo.

Hearing protection, co2 fire extinguisher, turbine oil, fuel can and a pump, fuel tank with gas compatible stopper is a good start. Fuel is easy the Kingtech's run great on pump diesel the oil can be had at almost any airport.

No problem Barry, If a I'm not allowed to post in this forum it's OK.
If I can't post a potho of MY TURBINE it's OK.
If Kinktech doesn't want to sell turbines to mee it's OK TOO!

I'm starting to buy from JETCAT. And I really don't unsdertant your last e-mail.... you copied "CC" a dealer from Breazil?
Are you sure about that???
I boutht that turbine (last one) direct from the the factory.
If you like I can make your e-mail public, because I don't like threating people.
I'm sorry but you really sucks...
Please don't send anny e-mails or I will post then HERE.
I'm not afraid of you, If I want to buy a turbine from Kingtech I really don't need a dealer, you can buy direct from the factory.
But thats OK.

Regardsssssssss

Hello Megafly, I am sorry about the cosmetic issue on the front cover. We admit isn't our regular line of production and somehow slip thrugh and we are happy to send you another front cover, and for that, Barry will be in touch with you.

What Barry sent you was also cc to us at the factory and we stand behind this position that if you have a problem or question concerning our product, please contact your dealer or KingTech USA Int'l for them to have an opportunity to serve you first rather than going public and if we still failed you, than we would understand you share your experience with the everyone. But if you must continue to do things your way and make us helpless of the situation, than what Barry mentioned was no choice but to reserve the right to terminate relations.

Meanwhile, we are in the process of working out details of designating KingTech Int'l to serve KingTech customers world wide, because the factory will only concentrate on R&D and production and will no longer conduct sales and possibly services directly to the customer.

It was not my intention to say something bad about Kingtech, you can see I like the turbine that's why I have three of them
I always tell to my friends buy the k80 for their jets, my old k80 has 12 hours of flight and I never experienced a flameout.
I've posted a pic to show the front cover I was concerned abou that but after this answer "megafly

the front cover is a no stress item, i wouldn't sweat it at all."
I'm good to go.
I just don't liked or understood the way that Barry talked to me.
But let's put that behind and move on
I'm sorry if I caused anny kind of stress here, it was not my intention at all.

Best regards.

Anyway Megafly, I'm sorry you took my last email wrong, nonetheless, please feel free to email me your address and I'd be happy to send you a pristine front cover or you are welcome to run it the way it is as KC suggested, and we'll replace it on its next service. Meanwhile, fly hard!

Cheers,
Barry

I flew my K80F for the first time yesterday. Airframe is a ShokJet weighting in around 18 lbs wet. The K80 was flawless, it started every time and ran perfectly. Here is a link to the video of the second flight if anyone is interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3wt4SWv51E . The only question I have about the engine is the strange sounds it makes during start up (my friends Jet Central Rabbit does not make these noises, but his is not kero start so that could be the difference). Also, the very first time I started this turbine I did not get flames coming out the tail like you see in the video. I'm thinking that a little fuel is dripping into the turbine after shutdown? I do have a festo fuel cutoff switch between the pump and the fuel lines into the turbine, which I am very conscience about turning off as soon as it shuts down. Other than that the engine runs great and makes good thrust. I wish the acceleration was a little better, I'm going to try turning the Acceleration Delay down to 3 (it's currently at 7) and see how she does. I don't think the acceleration is abnormally slow given the comments from the other turbine guys that were present, but I did read somewhere on this forum that for mild temperatures I should be able to reduce the accel delay down to 3 with no problems, we'll see.

Regards,

Tom

tip22v
You can reduce your fuel ramp and that will reduce or eliminate the flame on start up. Also are you using a 9.9 volt ecu battery? The noise is pretty much typical of a kero start K-80.

Tip

Nice flight and the jet looks good. You will have a blast with the KingTech K-80.

The sound you are talking about, Is it that buzzing like sound on the? If so, It could be the sprag clutch on the starter motor hanging up on the compressor nut. I have witnessed this on engines other than Kingtech and a simple solution is to put a drop or two of 3-n-1 oil on the part of the clutch that rotates. You will have to remove the starter motor from its housing to do so. If you get any oil on the O-ring be sure to clean it off.

And reducing the fuel ramp will help with the flames.

I'm using a 2 cell lipo, but I have a 3 cell LiFe. Should I use the 3 cell?

If I remove the starter motor to oil the sprag clutch do I void the warranty?

How much should I reduce the fuel ramp?

Thanks for the help.
