i am thinking to try this model electric....weight should be under 9 pounds....Can you tell me the RPM on the 13X10 prop?? I can swing anything from 14X10 up to 22X12, but prefer to stay approx the same size as the fuel motors do so that flying characteristics remain approx the same.
I just need to figure out the required pitch speed, and then i'm off..........
I don't need " unlimited" vertical as I will be flying sportsman or maybe at best intermediate, so I don't necessarily need a fire breathing dragon, just about the same as a .91??? or is a 91 more than required for this type of flying??...I had a Venus that was powered by much less than everyone said the computer programs predicted was needed, and it had much more than adequate power. ( according to some more experienced fliers that flew it )

I'd love to help on that one, but I paid someone to build mine and I have no idea where those pieces went.

I ran an OS 120 w/pump, swinging an APC 14X10 at approx. 9300 to 9700 RPM depending on the day.

It all depends on how much overlap you want on your cowl to fuse.

I would put a lighter engine farther out on the rails than a heavy one, it makes it easier to balance.

What type batteries and weight are you running?

I used the stock mount. Mount everything as far forward as you can. I mounted the throt. servo on the bottom of the fuel box, right behing the fire wall. I also am running a 5 cell 2500 mah pack that is mounted in the fuel tank area. It weighs around 6.5 oz. You will prolly need any where from 3-6 oz of lead in the nose. However, if you can keep the elevator servo out of the tail, and move it up front, this should bal. out perfect.

With my motor setup I used a 2700 NiMH pack placed just behind the wing saddle for balance.
Remember, I was running a 120 FS, quite a bit heavier than your motor.

Ken....Thanks for that information.....I can turn a prop that size at approx 9400 RPM max, but will go up in dia and down in pitch, till the pitch speed is about 2 1/2 time the models stall speed,
this will give me a fair amount more thrust than the model weighs. Has anyone done one of these electric?...

ok I got brave, I removed the bottom sheeting on the fuse ran 2 guides for a 2 servo elevator hook up, and carbon fiber push rods works great, now all I have to do is resheet the bottom and recover

How did you guys mount a 91 2C with stock muffler? Rotate so the muffler is lined up with the bottom of the fuse? Would have to cut the cowl for engine head then. Anyone have a pic of say an OS91 FX with stock muffler mounted? Thanks.

I just order a Quest last night. I have been out of RC for about 12 years and a lot of things have changed. WOW have they. I bought a stick over thanksgiving and what little skills I had seen to be returning. I figured that the Quest would be the next step, I don't know whether I want to go back into pattern or just fly big planes. so the Quest looks like the best of all worlds for now.
I don't want to over power it, so I think I will go with a ST.90. I may not use a pipe, just have a Macs muffler run down the center of the bottom. In the past I have had very good luck with set up and have not had to use pumps, so I might try it again. I guess that I may have some minor GC issue. I will most likely put the elevator and rudder servos as far up front as I can get them.
I was just sitting here and trying to figure out what type of servos to get. Any suggestion on a modest selection. and will just one work for the elevator? MLC, what prop did you end up using?

One servo will work for the elevator. I have the older Quest sold by Creek Hobbies. I have Futaba S9202 servos on all but the rudder. There I have a 9151 digital. That made a big difference in the rudder control. I have seen the new Quest flown with the ST90. It did well, but I don't know what prop he had.

I buy servos. I have not gotten a engine yet eigther. I wanted to keep the cost down. If i go back to pattern type planes then I would like to have Otop or the Ice berg?? Heck, I don't know what I want to do, but the quest just look like a nice plane. and seem to be the obvious next for me.. Terry

Just got home from work, and the Quest was here. It looks good. My last Pattern plane was an Aurora, I think it cost about $200 for the kit and took me about four months of steady work to finish it. I will keep you"ll posted on finished product.. thanks again for the help..tg
