Well, if you look, everything is in this thread somewhere. But it's so deep it can be hard to find. Pete C sent me one that was condensed, but it needs to be gone through and updated. Every time I add something though, the pics go out of whack. When I can get it updated and sectioned off, it will be on the web site. I've only been trying to get that done since January.......LOL

Here's a few pics of the OS tank set up. It's mounted on rails with rubber bands (or whatever), then one line from the vent goes directly out the bottom. The main pick up line gets a T fitting, and one line off the T goes into the side of the plane to a fuel dot for fueling. The other line off the T goes through a filter and directly to the engine.

The YS is a little different.

Wheels, I use Dubro treaded lite flite 2 1/2". Bolly f3A small pants, CH long aluminum fixed gear axles.

There's a carbon fiber shortage worldwide, so wing tubes are going to be an issue. They'll be here though. However, let me stress that if you decide to use an aluminum tube, use a 1"x30". It's much more heavy, but the 7/8" aluminum tube is more likely to bend under the Gs this thing creates in a snap. Just FYI....

And Wendell, sorry it took so long, but the elevator linkage runs almost exactly along that fuse center line (the one marked when you first make the sides). Fr the exit points, have a good look at the plans and lay down a straight edge so that with a control horn sticking up 1" from the bottom surface of the elevator, the rod follows straight to the top of the servo. the entrance point is right on F9.

Here are a couple of links for the kind of building table (torsion box) that Rick built.

DIY did at least one show on this. This link has a materials list and building instructions.

Come on Mike, you know better then to use rubber bands on the feul tank, LOL. Sorry, just remember that sound it made during the super sonic snap in GA.

If I have time I'm going to redo my tank mount today. It's worked forever, but this plane just throws too many Gs. Now that I'm carrying a 20 oz fuel tank, it's an issue.

Broke that too. So now I'm thinking heavy duty velcro buckle straps with a tray.

You broke zip ties? Must have been cheap ties. I've been using Thomas Betts black zip ties with the metal tab for all kinds of things and have yet to see one fail even at work. You can get them at Home Depot or I can send you a hand full.....we buy them in bulk so I have some spares.

Hey Guys,

Just got back from a trip to see the Black Magic up close.. I went to excellent flying site that Mike invited me to for a afternoon of Q/A about the plane and watch it fly, we had a T-storm come in and cut the session short before I got my hands on the sticks. While watching it go thru the new Masters pattern the snaps where clean and a good break. Speed was good, Mike is still learning the left stick with the YS 160 in it and never gets above half throttle.. This plane has alot of power and at 9#15oz it tracks well in the wind. Emory has the E- version and it is 10#15 but Emory tricked his out also..(ALSO- these weights are with a glassed and painted fuss) Down lines where clean no pull either direction.. For those who are building them you won't be disappointed !!!! and those on the fence, fall off and get one !!!!!

Mike, good luck this weekend in Nashville..

Team 3d

I have heard how the E version does with the 5330/fai and has more than enough power.. The 5330/18 should do fine with the past planes I have had doing testing at 12 pounds and had more than enough power.. Emory has the only e-version right now that I know off.. But I spent the day with Mike yesterday and it looks like (2) will be being built for me as e-versions one with a 18 and one with the FAI motor.. I think Mike said something like slave labor on my part coming down and helping him for 3 days on mine
Maybe I can talk Mike into another flying session and shoot some video now I know where his secret site is and it's in my GPS.

Got video here:

http://64.207.169.247/eBlackMagic.mov - Emory doing the masters pattern, on a great day at America's #1 flying site.... GA Jets....

it's 20 mb and I'll keep it up until my web hosting company starts complaining about bandwidth limits - it's quicktime, works great on a mac, should work fine on a pc with quicktime installed.

enjoy,

Dean

sorry guys, sometimes I hate putting stuff up like this because of problems like this....

it's a 20 mb mpeg 4 quicktime movie - if it doesn't stream it might take up to 10 mins to download, the movie works fine on the macs I work with and I just viewed it on my Sony PC laptop where it also plays just fine in quicktime - Part of my daily work responsibility is helping people with "their" computer problems - so here goes....

if you are having a problem in windows, just do that right click "save target as" to you desktop - once the file downloads it will play just fine with audio and video.

Try updating your quicktime - you might be view this in a really old version of QT or windows media player -

I don't have the actual source files with me as I did this at the office - so if I have to put up a lower quality version for you guys with "normal" computers it will have to wait till next week - sorry bout that. Keith, I do have it on DVD so I would be happy to show it at the nashville meet. and I am packing the van right now to leave in the morning....

good luck ya'll,

dean

I just downsized the video to 10 mb and re-uploaded it - so give it another try. it should work on PCs better now, although the quality is not as great...

remember it's 10 mb, it's going to take a little bit to download...

I updated quicktime, rebooted, now it works. Or Dean changed something. At any rate, it works.

Pete,

I've snapped that airplane...when it is on...I'm not sure that steel zip ties would hold up over a long period of time...That is an impressive airplane in a snap...

it was most likely updating your QT Mike.

it's the same format I just reduced the quality settings and reloaded it, it worked before on my PC - it's just not as sharp etc....

fun little video, we will do more and better : )
