Sorry to read about your Angel Velco....
I've been flying Heli's for about 20 years and was at a fun fly this (oop's) Last summer and there was a guy there flying a giant scale Comp Arf Extra. Nothing new about that. Only he was flying sequence pattern maneuvers. Now I'm hooked. I got the Angel to use as a stepping stone toward a 2M pattern plane.
So I will have plenty of questions....

Velco ... oh man ... sorry to hear about your Angel. I agree, if you don't feel like it, just don't fly. The Angel is 'portable', the WindS 110 is a bigger plane so its like apple and oranges. I was more comfortable with my Angel I have to say, feels more connected for me than the Wind S 110 or the Ms Wind 50
JB ... I am flying my Wind S tomorrow morning, I will get a prop hanging pic for you, JUST FOR YOU! As for the reversed ailerons, I have done 3 of those. I could have sworn when I checked the ailerons they were right. Now, I call out the controls and do it with a friend. Talk about being dumb.

Just spent some time ironing and tightening the covering....
It looks like if I go with 6s and the 16/10 prop I'll have about two inches of ground clearance....

I fly from a very rough pasture patch in the middle of a sheep field using a 16x10 with the standard UC and spats, its now about two years old and still in fairly good condition, the UC has bent occasionally and the lift generators have punctured the side of the fus, nothing a bit of balsa and CA could not cure.
As to taking off with the ailerons reversed, I have nothing constructive to add in fact nine times out of ten its de-constructive, or is that re-kitting. LOL It does not matter how experienced you are at some time or another we all have, or will do it, the test is if you get away with it??????????

Well I spent the day watching it snow....
However, I did get the Angel finished.
I started to program the radio. I'll be looking for some help in this area.
Well tell me what you think....

How do you like the "Angel Dust"....
Thanks for looking.

I set up my Angel exactly as per the instructions, I have never had to re-trim or change anything from day one, the percentage mix for straight knife edge is exact, movements of the surfaces are just perfect, on the first flight my flying buddy could not belive the knife edge was so true, right hand off the Tx and end to end flight without any change in direction.
Get out there and fly it, one of the most true flying models I have ever owned and I fly a composite Edge and Extra, a QQ Yak 85" and all sorts of things in between, the Angel still fly's the best.

Yeah ... my Angel had no mixing other than for downline. Once I get the CG right, the KE has no mix on mine. The roll coupling was really negligible. Dave ... the yellow scheme looks so so hot!

Electric ... CG is a personal preference, I use the recommended CG as a guide to maiden only. Then I adjust it accordingly. I try to use the CG to suss out between normal flying and in KE. If that does not really help the KE then I give normal flying a priority and mix it out for KE. Looks like I will be getting an Angel soon too. It will be the yellow one. My Sebart collection is growing. Hehehehee ... this time I will prob go with a 6S set up and keep her light. Motor should be my AXI 4130/16.

I normally adjust the C of G until I can get a clean spin entry, this normally means a little back from the recommended, but the manual position is a good place to start, my 4350Mah 6S LiPo is hard up against the wing tube.
Good to see some more AXI's being used, none of mine have ever let me down.

JB ... stop hecking me and quickly build your Wind S Pro ... you better do it fast because I may just fly down to see you and try out your plane! Hahahahaa ... Seriously, I was so much more comfortable with the Angel than even the Ms Wind 50. But again, I am just a hobbyist and am non competitive. Also, I may be heading down your way to perhaps pick up a pylon plane. So I can meet you and we hang out with Henry?

I have decided to get a new one! Wind 110 will have to wait a bit
.
I have tried to figure out what has happened (apart that I really did not feel like flying), especially why I was flying low and making snaps down the (gusty)wind, and the answer is simple: I find Angel to be very good in windy conditions, hence I was not paying that much attention to the windsock. The only tendency I noticed is that the plane was trying to turn into the wind, but that is normal. All other maneuvers were easily compensated for.

Also another mistake I made was that on that occasion I increased the throws on control surfaces to the recommended ones (I usually start even with less than suggested low ones) but increased expo (I put 40% on elev) and probably I did not even pull enough on the stick trying to save her.

For a long time I have been flying 3d planes and these are much more wind sensitive and I did not have to pay any special attention to the windsock, I always knew what was going on in the air. I was literally shocked to discover how much more stable in windy conditions was Element 30 (1,6kg) than 50 size Yak55SP (2,9kg). I can only imagine how good can be a real 2x2 bird.

Angel is a beautiful plane and on suggested setup she is really a joy to fly.

As my Ms Wind 50 should arrive very soon, Wilson, or anyone who tried both planes, a very simple comparison between the 2 in one sentence if possible please.

Dave,
Thanks for sharing the great pics of your new Angel. Mine is still in the box and I have not started assembling it yet. After looking at yours, I am very glad I got the Yellow color scheme like yours this time. I had an Angel several months ago that was the red/green scheme. I had bought it 2nd hand to see if I would like electric flight. It was a beatiful plane also. but my old tired eyes will see the yellow/black scheme a lot better. The Angel flew very well and was very stable. That plane is what convinced me to go total electric. So I sold all of my glow fuel planes and gear, sold the Angel, and bought a new Miss Wind and a new Wind 110s and chargers, batteries, etc. I am flying both of those now and I am really enjoying them a lot and about to get them trimmed in right. I missed the Angel because it was so easy to grab and go and how well it flew too, so I ordered a new one like yours and have it in hand, just have not started the build yet. I am in the process of selling my home and going to have a new one built, so that has cut into my air time, etc...lol.. Anyway, I will have a complete compliment of Sebart planes when I am done..lol. Take care, and hope you get to fly your new Angel very soon...
Larry..

Velco ... I find both the Angel S and the Ms Wind fly very well. They track straight and feel light. For me the Ms Wind has a lot of drag (for obvious reasons), when you throttle down she slows down much faster than the Angel. I love how a bipe snaps, the two wings make it look really impressive. When I snap on the Ms Wind, she comes out and seems to hold still in the sky, I need to catch the throttle right to ensure she accelerates out nicely and not look like a STOP and GO. Rolls feel the same to me. Stall turns are a little different, if I do not get it right on the Ms Wind, she flops, its much easier to nail it with the Angel S but this is a relative comparison and not that the Ms Wind does not execute stall turns well. Both planes have a rudder with a lot of authority, I noticed that on Sebart planes.
Ooooopppss ... did you say one sentence? ROFL! I think I will get my Angel in March or April ...

Velco,
Miss Wind handles the wind better than the Angel IMHO. Doesn't feel as light in the air as the Angel does. Both track well. Miss Wind is harder to assemble. Miss Wind requires more power due to weight difference and more importantly, the drag factor...

Thank you guys, just was curious what could be the difference between the 2.

Still on vacation this week so today I have finally pulled the plane out of the car (sitting there since the "tragic" event
) and in detail inspected what can be salvaged. Well, the left wing is intact, of course the tail, landing gear together with the larger wheel spats I have. I think I will be using the old wing also on the new plane, so her "spirit" can fly again. I did the same thing with SU29 30E, I am on my second one with one wing from the first one
.
All the servos survived (InoLab HGD 650HB carbonite gear) and all other electronics too. Luckily I was using my old Kokams that day! The motor on first sight seemed OK but when I attached it back again it made bad noise, probably one of the bearings is gone as she went nose down. Luckily the replacement set is available at Hacker site.

My usual vendor doesn't have an Angel on stock right now, hope it arrives together with my Ms Wind 50 they ordered for me. Luckily I sold some of my old stuff today and have covered for the damage.

Thanks for the replies guys....
I got an AeroWorks custom Throw Meter and will start the programing tomorrow. I had an AirThunder 6s 5000 that I use in my T-rex so I put it in the Angel and it was about 3/4 inch forward of the wing tube. The 145 mm mark is just at the front of the tube. Actually there is a cross brace that's directly above the mark.
Velco I'm glad you can salvage some of you plane....

A word of caution for you guys who are running big packs. Please reinforce your battery tray. It can potentially come off when you start to execute negative snaps.

Good advise....
Do you know of any other areas that might need a little attention....?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to find any fault in the design.
However, your experience is pricele$$....

Just reading the instructions included in the manual help ......
Tips for Success-Please read before beginning assembly!!!
1. Read the instruction manual thoroughly before starting assembly.
2. We are very pleased with the level of craftsmanship exhibited by the workers in our factory. However, these are mass produced models. As with any ARF, take a few minutes to go over the model and add CA to high stress areas or any joints that appear to need more glue. Specific areas to pay attention to are servo mounts, landing gear mounting plate, firewall to fuselage side joint, wing root rib and motor box joints. A few minutes and a few drops of CA will help to insure the longevity of your model.

One thing that has happend to mine over the two odd years I have been flying it is the incidence pin holes in the fus have opened up, I CA'd a couple of Carbon sheet washers over the holes inside, you can get to the rear ones through the air outlet, seems to have stopped any more wear.
Other than that and the previous mention of the lift generators puncturing the fus, I have found nothing that needs to be attended to.
Wrong, forgott the canopy catch that needs to be put on, to prevent it flying off, it also acts as a handle to allow taking the canopy off without putting your finger nails under the edges and breaking them off, so one way or the other the catch is needed.

Mike,
Thanks for sharing the info. After your comment I think that I might go ahead put a couple of CF disks on mine when I do the build to maybe avert what you experienced. I already have a new hatch latch in hand just for this plane's canopy as I had read the previous posts on this problem some time back. Again, thanks for sharing,
Larry..
