About the oil thickness. I run on a track with medium bumps and medium jumps. And some times I bash. I was thinking about 45wt front and 40wt rear, Associated oil. (35wt Losi = 37.5wt Associated). Or would this be to heavy?

Edit: I will be using the white four hole piston.

One more question if i choose this, is it a big improvment on the thunder tiger st-1 rtr and how does it compare to a caster k8t. I got one more monthe to go so im trying to make a decision so when i got the cash i can buy and be done
the hyper is about 1lb heavier (major issue) than the caster, and you may have to do some radio tray mods to get your elecs. to fit. i had a spectrum receiver and a hump pack all crammed into the tiny box with no on off switch and it worked fine. caster, nice big flat box. some people have complained of brake issues, i never had any. durability on the hyper is second to none (hope you are good with diffs). the new k8t's come with big bores as well as the old stock shocks for backups (jic). the shocks look like the jammin big bores but they use the clips instead of the pain in the ars threaded shocks. if you need to make an adjustment with threaded shocks it takes like 10 minutes all around to get it right, assuming they are clean already. or 4 clips in 5 seconds, done. caster parts are cheep and easily available online, most ofna parts fit in the hyper (lhs?) or you can look for hyper stock parts on ebay for very cheep (plcman1, good seller). i raced the hyper for 6 months with very good lap times, very few finishes, and a lot of fun. i've raced the caster 2 times so far (old blue version) and finally got the kinks worked out. its ready to do some hurtin'. i've been running the go 3 port race and this motor really impresses me very day. just when i think its running fast, i take a quick temp and realize i'm still under 200c, lean it a couple hours and its totally ballistic at 219c. awesome pop with good crisp acceleration and a rock steady idle, just awesome.

Droidswarm-
Thats the linkages i'm running on my hypers 8 and ST and thats how mine are set up as well and they work a treat.
But you may want to change to a better throttle servo and you will get all the braking you need : )

Hi, can anyone tell me the size of the Hobao side guards please? Width and length is what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Well This truggy is dam tough! Just got the OS .28 and dropping it in this weekend. Then off to Lake Park. I think that motor will be the final touch it needs.

I've just been racing yesterday, and it all went well. My new engine (Jammin 21) was plenty powerful enough, and I caught many people down the straight. The only minor thing was that I snapped the rear wing and wing mount. I fixed it temporarily with zip ties, but just wondering, has anyone else done this, or is it just my crappy driving/jumping?

I know a guy who broke his wing in half the first day out with his new Hyper ST Pro.. Mine's been good though. I didn't like the looks at first, but it's grown on me.. (I should say "grew", cuz I just sold my Hyper.. [] )

Yup stock wing sucks. Replaced with a Proline wing. No issues since.

I am installing my OS .28, wondering about the flywheel and clutch. Does anybody make a good high performance one or does it even matter.

I boiled mine to dye it black, and it has proven to be as tough as any other wings i have had, maybe that helped??

Since the Hyper ST is deemed as a heavy truggy, what are you guys doing to get over this? Any weight saving? Or just living with it?

I remember reading somewhere in this forum that some one had tried the Hyper 7 carbon fiber shock towers which do fit. There are pictures posted as well. That same person made the hyper 7 chassis braces and the hyper 7 upper plate fit. I haven't been able to find the carbon fiber towers so I would assume that they could be cut out of some carbon fiber sheet. I don't know how that project ended or how much more of a performance gain that provided. Rob Bender from Nitrohouse supposedly had some weight reduction projects line up for this truck. I have to check with him and see what he came up with. If I find out I will post. He runs the truggy with an old Ninja .21 and has no problems pushing the truck around. Now I believe he is using a Jammin .28 or a Picco .28. If this truggy was a lot lighter it would definitely be a lot better. It's sad to see that most of the Hyper st trucks that had pictures posted here have now ended up on ebay. I'm still going to hang on to mine but like Herrsavage I will be getting an RC8T.

I do like mine - I can carry on going when everyone else has crashed and broken.

I think I will try and lose some weight, but am going to get a Hyper 9 just for the fun of it and all out competition lol. Looks Amazing!!!!

That is the best part of this truggy it just keeps coming back for more. I do not think the weight is an issue. The OS keeps right up with all the other truggies
