I'm putting my hellcat together now and found a hot little item. Do you guys think a moki 1.35 with a pitts style muffler will fit inside the cowl? and will this have too much power?

Anybody going gas on their cat? I found a real nice engine,SPE 26 for $229.00 from eflightstuff.com including shipping.BCMA is selling the same thing for 279+shipping.Weighs 36oz, which is less than the G20 and has an advance spark ei for smooth idle. Will turn a 16/8 around 7800.ck it out.

You might just be wrong on the SPE vs. BCMA engine. BCMA does a bunch of work on the stock engine. I doubt that eflightstuff.com makes a better product. They just sell the stock engine. I didn't see anything about EI on the site. BCMA engines are also all test run to make sure that all is well. The best "price" doesn't always equal the best "value".

I bought me an SPE from Brillelli which Scott calls it 26 SS. Comes with a CH ignition. Scott also balances the crank and installs a CNC prop hub. Neat little motor. Very light. For 305 bucks it's a great deal. This motor is going in my GP P 6-E Hawk and my FPE 1.3 is already installed in my Cat. But still too cold for maiden (26° F)

Well thought I would try to get things going. Here is what I got done this weekend. Hope to maiden no less than one month but I am also finishing my 1/5th TF Corsair that is just about to maiden also. Thought by now we would have more finished pics by now from other builders. Not exactly up to Luke's standards but I am trying and having a ton of fun. This weekend will start markings and the weathering.

Randy,
That Hellcat looks excellent, you should be very proud. Did you also shorten the wing? Keep the pictures coming, I'm enjoying your work also!

Yes shortened the wing to next first rib which was a total of about 6". Best mod you can make. It puts the gear in the right place to give it the right stance. Looks so much better. Also if you can see did the flap and aileron mod. This is my second one, built the first stock except for paint which was also the 3 color scheme but this one is has the Cat mouth on it. Still need to make the tailwheel retract but that will be soon. Doing all of Luke's mods except for his cockpit which I missed out on but have everything else so I took a TF Corsair cockpit and modified it to look ok. Most will never know. Lukes canopy also makes a big difference. I will post some more as I get closer this weekend hope to get a lot of the weathering done but I always have 2 or more projects at once.

As far as I know that when Luke is done he doesn't make anymore and I sure wish he did so that I could order a spare just in case of a a dumb thumb sometime. I have a friend that purchased his parts also and we have been thinking of sending a set of the wheels covers to Stans Fiber to have a set of fiberglass ones made to have a bit more durability since mine started to crack from normal vibration. If I reuse my old ones I will have to put some glass or carbon on the inside of the covers to beef it up a bit.

Well, after almost four month building this "ARF" I am as good as done. I got carried away with all these scale detailing stuff and since the weather doesn't seem to be willing to cooperate I am in no rush to head to the field for the maiden. When it comes to that I will wait for the best weather possible. Tomorrow I am going to fire up the motor and tach it with the three bladed 14x9 prop. So far I am tickled pink with the end result. I know she's going to fly nicely.

How about some more pics of the cat assembled.
Did you notice the elevators? They seem to have washout built in to them, I can't imagine them both warping the same way... I'll post a pic tomorrow.
Nice Job.
