What do you hate about ARTF's?

Sounds like you got your hands on one of the old Thunder Tiger ARF....they will give you a bad impression.

I Need Speed And Can't Decide

If you need speed its hard to beat a Whiplash in an ARF or a Diamond Dust if you want an easy build. If you need something with a fuse then maybe a Weston Magnum. But if you want something more...

Magic Extra Weight

For some of you that asked about the weight of this plane.
I took all of the components and weighted them on a digital lab scale.
This is the equipment I plan to use:

JR & Fubaba xtals.

Most JR receivers in the US are single conversion and most Futaba are dual conversion, both ppm and pcm, so the xtals will not work when interchanged even if they are on the same channel in the 72...

I'm positive I saw the review here. I may be slowly going senile but I'm not totally there yet!
Erick mentions the review he did of the Creek Staudacher. In this review he changed a lot of...

Creek Hobbies Sukhoi Review????

What happened to Erick Royer's review of the Creek Hobbies 1.40 size Sukhoi. It appeared yesterday briefly in the RCU magazine section and now its replaced with an article of how to make battery...

Bridi Great Escape Pattern Plane

I bought one of these several months back from Joe Bridi along with the last of his Dirty Birdys. It was $75 for the GE plus $25 shipping for both kits from CA....what a deal but I believe he is sold...

GROUND FAULT!

Bugs,
If you have a single 2 conductor line W/ground leaving the lightbox as a switch leg or using the cbx sheath as ground then you cannot draw power from the switch box as you are drawing power...

Modeltech Magic Extra

Just got mine in from Quantum models. Fairly impressive for the sale price of $110. After reading the posts I believe I will go with HS 425 servos since I already have some of these spunky little...

Flite Streak Conversion

Actually, I belive it would be quite easy to convert the Flite Streak to RC. Probably easier with the kit than the ARF but can be done with a little bit of re-fitting & re-covering.
The trailing...

New pattern pilot seeks ship

The Champion 45L has poor covering and if you land even a little hard you tear the main gear mounts out of the wing. The Swallow is cheap for a reason....it's wing is not structurally sound as the...

Mystery Shim

That mysterious shim sounds like a ring expander. These are used as a companion to a ring in a lot of automotive 4 stroke engines. Its purpose is to help keep uniform tension on the ring shoving it...

Seagull Models Edge 540

Adrian,
We are getting a little off topic with these 40 size clones. But while we are here: the parts do interchange with OS and they are true ABC but if you look at them closely they do not have...

Seagull Models Edge 540

It's very easy. Just cut a patch out of 6 or 8 oz. cloth. Saturate it with 30 min. epoxy and stick it place from the inside of the cowl. Make sure you rough the surface inside with 100 grit sand...

Seagull Models Edge 540

Gricey,
Your concern about too much opening at the front of the cowl is valid. You should have at least twice the area of outlet as intake. The best place to cut is back at the bottom around the...

Another advantage of ARC is that you can check the framework for bad glue joints & make mods without having to uncover and then recover or patch. But the price of covering material must be factored...

Seagull Models Edge 540

They would work but you would be marginal both in power and quality for this type of plane. Someone spent good money on a fairly powerful and well recommended engine for this plane. You should use...

Power for Edge

I would have to agree that anything larger than the Saito 100 is overkill in this model. Also weight and wing loading becomes a factor. A 1.20 size engine will go over 30 oz. and Wolf 123 is right...

GMS .76 header?

Anyone know which header will bolt up to the GMS .76 engine? I know that it's not quite the same spacing as the OS .61 or .91FX as these are bolt thru and the GMS .76 has a bolt on muffler. More...
