Hmmm. I just looked at my brand new SV27 and noticed the tabs don't have an adjusting screw. They are just bent pieces of metal. I looked in the manual, its not clear but I think the boat in the manual has adjustable tabs. I am aware I can adjust mine by bending them but do I have an older kit?
ORIGINAL: No Stick
I turned the adjustable tabs negative 1/4 turn to get the nose down a little and it made a difference in the big waves.

They must be popular or something. They always end up running out before their next shipment arrives.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27
Does anyone else find this thread slow to load. When I use the button "Go to first unread" it takes a long time to load and usually times out with an error message. If, however, click on the link in an email it works fairly fast. When I start with the first page and then navigate to the last page it works fine. It's just when I use the button "Go to first unread" that it takes a long time to load. Maybe we should break this thread into two with a link to the original.

This is a handy button. If you go to the main page for the forum you can see at a glance which threads have new posts. They are the threads in bold type. Just click on this buton and it takes you to the first entry that you have not yet read.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27
Oh, ok. I find it easier to subscribe to the thread I am interested in. As for the boat section I subscribe to the whole Speed-electric forum. That way when anyone post a new reply or topic, I get an email notification of that. Yes, I delete alot of emails, but I find it very handy and I don't miss anything that way. In other forums like the 1/16 and 1/18 scale forums I just subscribe to the threads I am interested in.

I subscribe that way also but it's much slower going through all those emails to pick what I want to look at. I use Internet Explorer 7.0 and run the main page of the Speed Electric and Rum Runner as tabs on the top of the browser. I click on a tab periodically and can see at a glance what threads have new posts. It saves me alot of time. That is what that arrow button is for. When you see a thread in bold you click on the arrow button and it takes you to the first post in the thread that you haven't read. It works perfectly on all but the threads with thusands of posts, like this one.
Give it a try and see what you think. It's really much quicker than the emails. I still get all those subscription emails but I don't use them anymore since I found this method.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27
140-145F on the batts is what I've been going with thanks to Grim. Getting close to this range means too much prop, binding somewhere, or not setup correctly. If she's setup good, not running wet, and your batt temps are close to this range, then you have too much prop.
The motor=cooler the better. On a good setup and not running wet, about 100-115. If you ever see 180F, you toasted the magnets.
Less heat, lower resistance, higher performance.

Check out the CRV and let me know what you think... I think we all need one of these, and I built this out of an old boat and $20 worth of PVC. Perfect for bringing home our SV27s.

That's awesome. Makes SJFE's look like a tug boat.. You are going pretty fast. I think we need to put another strut and rudder on the SV and see how fast it is on it's lid! Looks like it might handle pretty well.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27
A few Silly questions guys: Can you over grease the drive shaft? Should you attempt to remove the remainder of the old grease out of the shaft tube before you re-grease the shaft? If so, how? I'm asking because I have noticed higher battery and motor temps after I perform this maintenance. Also, there is always some grease left over in the shaft tube...it's just black in color. Also, the teflon tube inside the shaft tube...does it need to be replaced periodically...if so...where do I get one?? Thanks!!!

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27
Yes, you can over-grease. I too noticed a slight increase in temps when I first started.
First, when you're done running for couple of days, remove the drive shaft to let it dry out. You don't have to put that much grease on. Just a light film. A good indication there's too much grease is when it starts blobbing out the end by the coupler.
I haven't heard of anyone worrying about the old grease in the tube, but then again, no one has asked about that grease. (It all comes out in the end.)
I can't give you an answer on the teflon tube. If you grease like you should, I don't see why it wouldn't last for a couple seasons.

Over greasing the solid part of the drive shaft in the strut causes extra strain on the motor which = heat. I usually lightly grease the flex shaft portion and use 3 in 1 oil on the strut portion of the shaft ( I pull the shaft after I'm done running for the day). Otherwise you can VERY lightly grease the solid portion of the shaft with marine grade lithium grease or Grim's speed grease. That should do the trick.
