Hey Don
Thanks mate , rough old strip dear boy???
Think I might have to toss a coin for which one to buy.
Pupmeister, thanks the guys at DA are very helpful and said that alot of fields have wild hare planes now and the Sukhoi is the most popular seller.Would you agree??

I had the first one in the air at my field and there is another that is currently been assembled. Only DA Australia would know which is the most popular, but I can tell you that there are a lot of WildHares currently been campaigned in IMAC in Australia and the chairman (Steve Richardson) of the [link=http://www.scaleaeros.com.au/]Australian Scale Aerobatics Association[/link] (the Australian version of IMAC) works for Howie at DA so they will definitely be able to guide you in set-ups for precision flying.

For the canister?
Any problem with me drilling a couple small 3/16 holes in the fiberglass tunnel and running the zip tie inside?, I will be using a small silicone pad between the can and the tunnel and some between the zip tie also. Reason for this is I found out tonight I am severely allergic to the fumes from the RTV and also to the touch ( airway and eyes swelled shut as well as blistered Skin on fingertips). I would rather not have the RTV on there at all because it's not something I can replace myself if I have someone else do it.

Pupmeister How does that baby sound? Do you have any videos of the engine running, I would love to see a vid of your maiden.
I want to get a vid of mine up but my buddy has been busy at work and can't find time to get to the field. (End of the Quarter)

Here is a short video that I shot with my cell phone of the first time that I started the motor.
[link=http://www.youtube.com/v/vmy4nedue-E]DL50 First Run[/link]
In general I am not really the movie type so I do not own a video camera (other than on the phone) and I did not have any body video the maiden (Personally I think videoing maidens is asking for bad luck)
And before any body asks the shoes were to stop the plane from running back. I had the plane secured with a strap to stop it from running forward, but I have read some nasty stories of people pushing the plane back while trying to start it, only to have the plane jump forward when the motor starts and take a nice chunk out of their arm.
Cheers

Dug around on you tube and found you guys videos. Know those cannisters sound awesome, and throttle response is truly instant on.
Just ordered my X9303 2.4GHz, had small glitches while flying with a 9cap. Definitly have to save up a few more pennys and get the cannister setup.
Thank's for posting..

I went ahead and drilled a couple small holes in the tunnel and ran a zip tie underneath I got a hold of some silicone strips about 1/16 thick by 1 " wide I will have a friend RTV to the underside of the tunnel for the can to rest against. I can slide another piece under the zip tie where it comes in contact with the can. this will allow me to take the can out if need be without having someone spread the RTV a second time. I picked up some batteries for my camera today and I will post some pictures later.
Getting really close to maiden now just a few more odds and ends to go

The Maiden flight of the Wildhare Sukhoi was yesterday morning at around 8:45 - 9:00 at Sanford Aeromodelers field.
After a GREAT range check I took her up for a few laps in the LOW sky.
She is a tad tail heavy, but flew fairly well for the first of several trimming flights.
She came in a bit heavy at 18 lbs. but the new DL seemed to have PLENTY of power for only the second run. And the canaster muffler sounds cool !
After a few minor tweaks I think this will be one awesome plane.
Looking forward to flight 2.... etc.

But the can is what accounts for the extra weight, it adds about 3/4 of a pound. Normal weight is around 17 lbs.

Great Video, As I stated before I love the sound of a canister system. It really seems to help the DL run even smoother than it already does with instant responsiveness.
I dont know if you are realy tail heavy, halfway into the video you did a roll which looked as if you didn't add any inputs except aileron and she dropped really quickly. Even though you were going fairly slow she should not have pitched down that fast. I'm pretty sure once you get a better day to fly her and opened her up you will be able to tell. The landings were off the hook, even though she came in nice and slow you still had plenty of elevator left to pitch the nose up without entering a stall.

great video ... congratulations! Please make me feel better though by not standing in or ahead of the plane of the propeller when reving the engine on the ground. It will be a long winter up here, my Sukhoi is nearly completed and it is all the way up to 0F outside today!

Then I hardened the holes and surrounding wood with CA.
It took 2 tie wraps hooked together to make the loop.
Put some silicone tubing on the tie to support the can.
On the tunnel I split a piece of tubing and glued it in place with RTV.
I also glued a piece to the top of the LG support bar so no vibration (metal to metal) with the can and this adds support there as well.

We determined that a thick coating of wet (freshly mown) grass fell off and it was still almost covering the whole side of the other pant.
Look what I dug outta the pants today !
