Sprink please use 4mm steel bolts for U/C Nylon will fail to easily
PS just finished 90 size. Just waiting for Carbon u/c and cowl.
Weighs 5lbs 12ozs at the mo

She is fully ready to go
Tempted to fly it without legs and front the wing loading would be very low!!

\Agree not to use Nylon on UC too risky. Kit supplies 5mm Metal which have worked fine for me...
Speaking on which I have just come in from the workshop after another late one...
Covering complete.... Spent most of the eve on the cowl with the dremel.... nearly there just to cut out any bits for the motor...
Hatori incowl scale smoke muffler (wont use smoke) fits lovely jubbly and looks the dogs with the ZN mount... will forward pics when I get a mo.
A tip - if you are going for rear mounted elev servos like me they need to be moved forward up to 1/2 inch as the servos interfere with the tail plane a tad in their current positions (either that or notch a 6x 4 mm section out of leading tail plane at root.)
Whats left !?
Engine re install and final cowl prep and fixing
Installation of the internals
Install of external servos/rods / horns etc
Final Dressing.
Installation always takes me twice as long as I expect !
I thought the colour scheme I did was growing on me now I dont know again ! I guess I can make my decision when I assemble it all - leaving that til last minute as my workshop is too small to be winging it around with everything attached !
One other Jersey C140ex is almost finished too....
Hey Baron---- France is gonna be a Capiche Test Fest !

France CPLR and BPLR!!! Two new models and a week on an airfield! How am I gonna cope
Well somebody has to do it
Looking forward to the 90 almost more than the 140 [:@] Only cos I have had a 140 for years

I just did calc for wing loading on the 90 @ 17ozs sq ft. To quote Jack Nicholson
" Tell me have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light"
See you Cherbourg[8D]

Only real test of the current demand is to fully charge the pack, go fly, then discarge it at the end of the day, and see how much was left. Most of my planes I am happy only charging up once every weekend or two. Only my C50 has cought me out doing that, not surprising the amount it got flown

This is with 4 645MG servo's and plenty of 3D stuff, such as blenders and flat spins and hanging around.

Im knackered !
I swore I would not do any last minute rush jobs before this show again and look what happened..!!
My 12 year old YS 120 SF is installed ( yes I know but Ive decided I will wait for the 160 but not long enough not to fly it !)
Incowl muffler etc, throttle set up, cowl cut and prepared - just need to do cowl fixing now that it has been dremelled, wet n dryed, polished etc...
Having a go at Dying Canopy - its still in a bin of dye now will check it in the am.
Poly Pilots arrived today so artistic lady started painting them today - will install tomorrow eve with canopy.
Wings complete apart from graphics...
UC - check - friggin big wheels ! I should be able to fly off the moon !
Tomorrow eve;
GLue tails on, elevs and rudder, and hook up ready made rods. (PS - despite all prev commentary I really think two elev servos will work well !)
finish closed loop
tank to go in
switch, batt, rx
tail wheel assy
pilot and canopy
graphics
photo (if its not dark !)
miscellaneous (charge jack, fuel dots and sockets, bits I forgot, check cg, fix cowl, remote glo, etc...)
Im fckt and back at work tomorrow at 7.30 !

Ar e you gonna have enough cooling there Luke !?
Well - I just came in from another night in the workshop !
Ever have one of those sessions when you know youve been working cos your knees / back is sore and youve been in the workshop for hours but you are not entirely sure ust what you have achieved in the timeframe...???
I had one of those...Its gonna be a 7 am start on it tomorrow and first time assembly with covering in the garden to determine cg.
The Moki 135 powered C140 I visited tonight - thats is 99.9% ready... with elev servos down the back (S3305) and an in cowl muffler the battery had to be positionned BEHIND the wing / aileron trail edge. Although after the spray job the cowl is a bit heavy on this one it shows that the "production" model is not prone to being tail heavy...
I flattened two half charged bench packs tonight setting up the rudder and elev throw....RUDE is one word ! I like that 8511 ! and with a 9206 on each elev those babies are never blowin back ! Aileron throw - Corr.... Its like a 2m+ shock flyer !
MAJOR PRob... anyone ever fitted a remote glo to a YS 4stroke !? Cant get mine to stay attached - well is too deep...and cowl too big for my glo sick to reach..
I am fkt

yes, i had that problem. get one of the sullivan headlock ones, slip a 2-56 or 2mm nut inside the clip unit and it will self center on the little brass part in the middle and then put it on the plug. the sullivan one works just like those push-n-twist glow sticks

How's the wing bolted on the C140, do you use plastics bolts into those funny clamp type bolts, a pic would be nice.

Luke, neet job you done there
Archie: what do you think of those 3305 servos? im thinking of getting them for my capiche 50. good torque, not the fasted but up with the 3004s and metal gears at a good price? are they any good?

They look okay - and as you say metal gears/shaft which is useful.
Bit slow.... I think I would go with the 3010s on the 50 - ample torque, faster, and lighter...
Put the 140 together for the first time today....everything seemed to fit !
Still got some work to do to finish it but will have to do that in France now - Van is packed !
Now that I have the engine on the model etc, I am feeling very positive about the ZN engine mount....feels just right n the flexibility front. Hatori system looks good too...
Saw the other C140 today too now its finished...(in the same van)... stunning with the graphics on !
Havent a clue what mine weighs, will take scales with me ! but it feels pretty light..

Fiddly but doable
Just keep fuzz "fuel tight"!
Luke you will need more space around that pipe to allow airflow also.
Archie I have packed my scales also so be warned
If you are over 10 you is in trouble
The 90 is very very light you wont believe how light it feels!!!!
YS 63 is gonna be more than enough for this big bird [8D]

Am gonna have plenty of air going through- will have an air ram scoop in the hatch and air exit holes.
As far as maintainance goes and connecting wings e.t.c, its easy peasy, the pipe only needs two bolts to take off and then it just pulls out of the plane.
The hatch will come off straight away after the first flight to see how hot it gets in there. The main thing i'm worried about as malc says is exhaust gases getting inside the fuz.
fingers crossed!!

i've had internal pipes on the Magnum and Dragqueen, Dragqueen got very hot but no harm came of it, Magnum has better cooling, not much air but what there is moves fast and very close to the pipe.
i've also lined the bay with foil tape.
have a look over on the speed threads at the pylon racers.
