If you use a Saito 100, don't use a perry pump! Been there,... done that. Your engine will stay flooded. Use the Cline. Coomarlin put me on to the cline and I've never been sorry.

I've been running the saito 100 in it's stock configuration WITHOUT a regulator or pump with absolutley no problems. Don't waste your money. Their not needed. I've got roughly 40 flights on it now.

Does anybody have a spare canopy for sale or does anyone know where i could get one. Mine broke apart in flight and towerhobbies keeps on moving back the date of availability of this part. I've been waiting for months. Thanks.

Neo, that explains why it runs fine, I want my tank on the CG. I"m going to use 5245 hitec digital on the elevator, that will save 1 1/2 ounces in the tail, then I plan to put a pull pull on the rudder, the weight of the servo (which will be moved foreword thus having less effect on the tail weight) will depend on how much weight I need if any. Thanks for your imput

When is GP coming out with a 120 size UCD? I think bumping this plane up 15-20% would make a great "giant" scale plane.Looks like it would be a fun project for this winter.
Any thoughts?

I think they should redesign the firewall and LG first. Sadly nothing was done for the UCD40 although they are aware of the issue. I have a UCD90 and had to do a fair bit of reinforcement. Wonder who runs the engineering dept at Great Pains uumm ...err..Great Planes ??

When I get the new canopy I'm going to use some double sided foam tape around the edge of the canopy and then I'm going to use about 13 screws (that's what I have in there now) to hold it on. I'm thinking about hacking up my Vlade Divac bobble head doll and stuffing him in there as the pilot. I think it would look pretty cool to see a bobble head going nuts on a low level fly by or hover
. Anyone else ever use a bobble head for the pilot?

The firewall came out on the same crash the LG did. I found the firewall was held in with pretty much nothing and probably would have pulled itself off from fatigue after enough flights. To reinstall and reinforce the firewall, I cut up some 1/2" tri stock and epoxied them up in an upside-down "U" shape along the sides and top of the firewall. To plug the gaps I used CA to glue in 1/16" small strips of balsa in between the gaps then sanded them flush to get an uninterupted "U" shaped rib to butt-up agains the fuse sides and upper stringers. Epoxied the assembly in and I dont think it will ever come out now. The fuse would break first I'm sure.
I don't know how you would go about accessing the firewall from inside the plane, but it wouldnt take much just to pull out the firewall. I think maybe if you used a heat gun to head up the glue holding it on, you may, with a bit of force, be able to "rip" the fuse out and make your custom reinforcement for it. Better now than to watch your engine fly off after a couple hundred flights or so. I know it's possible...I watched one guy with his ARF (not a U-Can-Do) on the run-in stand one day and the power from the engine pulled the firewall right out. The plane had never flown!
For all you U-Can-Do owners out there, I consider reinforcing the LG and the firewall a MUST for your and others safety and longevity of the aircraft.
If you don't have a U-Can-Do yet, I have a very in depth review posted in the product reviews section on this site if you want to check it out.

On the belly pan, I reinforced the corners of mine with tri-stock. I put a hole through one side removing the wing once. with the tri stock its very sturdy and works very well. I also removed the covering on the wing itself and epoxied the pan to the wing that way. Much better adhesion between balsa and balsa than balsa and covering.
If you don't want to build one, I'll do it for you. $25 covered and shipped sound fair? I would be building it based off the one on my plane which is the 60 size so if you have the 46 size I wouldn't be able to do it. I could have it done this weekend, and shipped on monday. Just PM me or email me or re-post on this thread to let me know. I'll even tri-stock the corners for you. Better than new.

Thanks, guys. Yea, I know it is really easy to build one, but if someone had a crashed UCD and I didn't have to build one, that would be great. Call me lazy......
